Lauded as “the most beautiful car ever made” by Enzo Ferrari, the Jaguar E-Type was derived from the 24 Hours of Le Mans-winning D-Type race car. This 1967 Series I example comes finished in Opalescent Silver Grey over a Dark Blue interior and features a 4.2-liter inline six-cylinder engine paired with a 4-speed manual transmission along with a black convertible soft top and 15” wire wheels. The E-Type featured unitary construction, disc brakes, and an independent suspension. This roadster version is said to have undergone a rotisserie restoration including a fully repainted exterior, a reupholstered interior, and a rebuilt engine. Having spent its first four decades under the stewardship of one family between Texas and Georgia, this XK-E joined the seller's collection in 2012 and is now being offered for auction out of Florida.

This late-model Series I E-Type Roadster is said to have been refinished in its factory-specified shade of Opalescent Silver Grey as part of the restoration. Equipment includes a black convertible soft top, split chrome bumpers, glass headlight covers, dual exhaust outlets, and a set of 15” chrome wire wheels with two-eared knock-off spinners. A spare tire is included and the wheels are dressed in a set of 2012 Vredestein Sport Classic wheels measuring 185mm x 15". Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

Inside, the cabin is trimmed in Dark Blue leather with matching door panels and carpets. The seller reports the interior to have been reupholstered to the vehicle's factory specification during the restoration. Features include a three-spoke wood-rimmed steering wheel, a suite of Smiths instrumentation including a 160 MPH speedometer and 6k-RPM tachometer, roll-up windows, and toggle switches for various functions. The seller states that all gauges and accessories are working properly.

Power comes from a triple-carbureted 4.2-liter inline six-cylinder engine which drives the rear wheels by way of a 4-speed manual transmission. Standard features include an independent coil-spring rear suspension, power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes, and a synchromesh gearbox. The larger of the two Series 1 engines offered, the 4.2-liter block was completely redesigned from Jaguar's 3.8-liter, made longer to accommodate 5mm (0.20") larger bores with a crankshaft modified to use newer bearings. This example is said to have undergone an engine restoration and the seller notes that both the engine and transmission numbers match the accompanying Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate.

This sale will include a toolkit, documentation, and a spare tire.

The seller would like you to know: “This is a Concours-level restored E-Type. A truly wonderful vehicle for someone who enjoys an all-original car that is as nice as it was when it rolled off the factory floor.”
