Produced from 1959 through 1967, the Austin-Healey 3000 Mk III earned acclaim in European rallying and remains one of the most celebrated British sports cars of its era. Representing the final iteration of the “Big Healey,” this 1966 example has reportedly remained in the same family since new and is now being offered from a private collection of nearly 60 years. Powered by a 2.9-liter inline-six engine paired with a 4-speed manual transmission, it is refinished in two-tone Healy Blue and cream over a blue vinyl interior. It comes equipped with twin SU carburetors, a blue soft top, 15” wire wheels, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, a cabin heater, and more. Recently serviced at Fitzback Garage with over $14k in mechanical work, this well-maintained Mk III is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Canada.

This example was refinished in its original two-tone Healey Blue and cream color scheme in 2012. Exterior details include a blue soft top, vent windows, a hood scoop, chrome bumpers with overriders, bright trim, and a single exhaust outlet. It rides on a newly fitted set of 15” wire wheels wrapped in 165-width Michelin XZX tires. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

The interior features bucket seats upholstered in blue vinyl with patterned inserts, along with matching carpets and door panels. A banjo-style wood-rimmed steering wheel sits ahead of the dash, which is accented with wood veneer and houses Smiths gauges, rocker switches, and a combined tachometer and speedometer cluster. All gauges and electronics are reported to be in proper working order.

Power comes from a 2.9-liter inline-six engine, generating a factory-rated 150 HP and 173 lb-ft of torque when new. The rear wheels are driven through a 4-speed manual transmission. The MKIII BJ8 variant introduced refinements, including a revised camshaft, dual SU HD8 carburetors, and a revised exhaust system. Stopping power is facilitated by front discs and rear drum brakes, while suspension consists of independent coil springs up front and a live rear axle with semi-elliptic leaf springs. Steering is managed through a cam-and-lever setup. The seller notes the vehicle recently received a full tune-up and inspection as part of a comprehensive service at FitzbackGarage.

This sale will include a toolkit, a spare tire, and a Canadian registration.

The seller would like you to know: “Sublime 1966 Austin-Healy 3000 BJ8 Mk3 is up for grab this week on our Favorite site. Powerful 6-cylinder Roadster impressive from Every angle, represents the quintessence of a great Era, believe it, or not, will be blowing out 60 candles very soon. Just came out from Fitzback Garage, received Spanking New wheels. New Michelin tires, a complete tune-up to make her purrs like the good old days! Fine tuning is done! Will shine in Every collection. Turn key & Enjoy! Cheers & GLWTA!”

    It is going to take money and effort to get the car into the US. That is probably why the bidding did not go higher. The easiest way to get in into the US would be to hire a customs broker

    @abruning Procedures are quite simple. ( for cars 25+ like this one ) ; 2 forms at the border 🛃 EPA 3520 & HS-7 ; And You pay import tax on Bill of Sale Value. ( 0.025 ) ; 250$ for each / 10000$

    30 minutes Zip in Zip out.

    In terms of tarifffs: there was no special Tariff from most recent transaction ( 1990 Porsche 951 that crossed Champlain border 1 month Ago ). But 25% for 2012 Turbo S that went to Dallas / Texas.

    2012 Turbo ‘S’ buyer took it with Philosophy & said: it is What it is… im Happy to Contribute to the Prosperity of my Country.

    I can Do it. I Just Do it. ✔️

    With POTUS’s schemes: it might fluctuates. God only knows what will be the scenario the day it goes from 🇨🇦 ➡️ 🇺🇸 budget Accordingly using the most pessimistic scenario, & Go From There.

    Tariffs increases the prosperity of 🇺🇸

    The New Normal probably/
    We just have to Adapt.

    I have the same color combo on my one owner '66 that has never failed me. Only 63,000 miles since new and shows well, gets lots of good comments. I would not hesitate to take it across country (except for my 80 years old bones! Idid have coilovers installed for a better ride (my original shocks after 58 years needed replacing).
    These are a great bargain for what you get!!
