This 1964 Volkswagen Beetle was acquired by the seller from a long-term previous owner and is accompanied by service records dating from 1989 until 2024. The car is finished in red and features black velour seats, a two-spoke steering wheel, chrome bumpers, 15” chrome wheels, an upgraded 12-volt electrical system, and a replacement 1,600cc flat-four engine paired with a 4-speed manual transaxle. This classic VW Beetle is now being offered for auction out of Florida.
The car was completely refinished in red under previous ownership. It features chrome trim and bumpers, dual side mirrors, running boards, and aftermarket 15” chrome wheels with Wolfsburg crest center caps. The seller notes minor paint bubbling toward the rear door latches and signs of regular road-going wear around the exterior. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The reupholstered interior features black velour seats with matching door panels, dark grey carpeting, a beige headliner, and a body-colored dashboard. Accessories include drilled chrome door handles and window cranks, a black two-spoke steering wheel, sun visors, rear passenger grab handles, an analog speedometer, a fuel level gauge, and black carpet floor mats.
Power comes from a replacement 1,600cc flat-four engine that drives the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual transaxle. A 2021-dated invoice shows the engine purchase along with a new Solex carburetor, an EMPI chrome dog house fan shroud, a chrome crank pulley, a chrome dress-up kit, an electric fuel pump, and a new muffler with chrome tailpipes. The seller adds that the electrical system has been converted from 6-volts to 12-volts.
This sale will include service records and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “Nice overall VW Beetle out of longer-term ownership. Well, maintained through the year and ready to be enjoyed by the next caretaker!”

Thanks for the extra photos but I wanted the battery box under rear seat and photos right in the front where the tire sits. Right down in the well area.
@marshall_lewis Additional pictures were sent to the auction, we expect for them to be uploaded shortly.
I see it needs at least 1 floor pan replaced. Any photos of battery box and where the spare tire rests in front ?

We had a brief call with the owner of the VW; The engine was upgraded solely for the reason of having a more powerful engine in the car, as previously stated the new engine has only 100 miles since installed into the car.
He states that the odometer is original and he has not had any work to it since he has owner the car. He used this car to just drive the car seldomly to car shows.
The car has been maintained by two independent VW specialist here locally. We would be happy to put anyone in touch with them to further discuss the car.
The owner of the vehicle states that he purchased the four tires currently on the car two years ago, but unfortunately has no receipt. The date codes on the tire are 2706 (27th week of 2006) but show in like new condition tires.
Current owner of this VW has owned this car since 1989.

Has the speedometer been fixed - it looks like it wasn’t working in the video. Engine was new in 2021? Why and when was the recent rebuild?
