Introduced in 1955 at the request of American importer Max Hoffman, the iconic Porsche 356A Speedster is a lightweight, open-top driver’s car known for its distinctive low-profile silhouette. From the final production year of this series, this 1958 Porsche 356A 1600 Speedster is finished in Aquamarine with red leather upholstery. Cared for by the previous owner for approximately 12 years, this example is now being offered for auction by the selling dealer out of Connecticut.
The Reutter-built body was reportedly refinished in 2006 in its original Aquamarine color, a rare Porsche shade available on the 356 from 1957 to 1959. Accented with chrome trim and gold-finished badging, the exterior features a blue convertible soft top paired with a matching tonneau cover. Chrome 15” wheels are fitted with Vredestein Sprint Classic tires. Detailed images are available in the gallery.
The cabin is appointed with red leather upholstery and matching square-weave carpets, featuring fixed-back bucket seats with contrasting piping. Additional equipment includes black and red Coco floor mats, a white-finished two-spoke steering wheel, a body-colored dashboard, and green-lettered analog gauges.
This 356A is powered by a replacement 1,600cc air-cooled flat-four engine. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual transmission, bearing stamping #16387 that corresponds to the Kardex included in the gallery. The seller notes that extensive servicing totaling approximately $41k was completed between 2012 and 2013, with documentation also available in the gallery.
This sale will include a clean title and a copy of the original Kardex.
