A tribute to the iconic Porsche 356 Speedster, this custom widebody replica was acquired by the seller approximately 16 years ago. It comes finished in metallic silver over black upholstery and features an aluminum tonneau cover, polished roll hoop, removable steering wheel, and a fire suppression system. Power comes from a 1,915cc Volkswagen engine paired with a 4-speed manual transmission, with additional equipment including dual Weber 40 carburetors, Bosch ignition, front and rear sway bars, Koni shocks, 912 disc brakes, and more. Consistently garage stored, this custom 356 replica is now being offered for auction by the seller out of California.
Constructed upon a 1969 Volkswagen Beetle tubular chassis, this Speedster replica is said to wear a custom fiberglass body by the former Classic Motor Company (CMC). Sporting pronounced fender flares and a low, aggressive ride height, it showcases a metallic silver finish and a matching aluminum tonneau cover. Details include a fender-mounted rearview mirror, chrome trim, headlamp grilles, a chrome roll hoop, and polished Fuchs-style wheels wrapped in 2014 Kumho tires. The front end and lower fender areas are protected by paint protection film. Additional photos are provided in the gallery.
The cabin is appointed with black upholstery accented by body-colored surrounds. Features include a removable three-spoke steering wheel, classic low-back bucket seats with red lap belts, a fire suppression system, a concealed battery shutoff, custom aluminum dashboard and door panels, and a Pioneer stereo system. The seller recommends recalibrating the fuel gauge.
Power comes from a 1,915cc Volkswagen flat-four engine featuring dual 40mm Weber carburetors with velocity stacks, hydraulic lifters, a bolt-on valve cover, an electric fuel pump, and a 12V alternator. Ignition is managed by a Bosch system with a blue coil, complemented by a balanced and welded internal fan. The engine runs at approximately 185 degrees Fahrenheit and is paired with a 4-speed manual transmission utilizing a hydraulic clutch. Suspension upgrades include front and rear sway bars, dropped front spindles, and Koni shocks on all four corners. Stopping is facilitated by Porsche 912 disc brakes at all four corners.
This sale will include a clean title and a car cover.
The seller would like you to know: “Thank you for visiting my auction. I have owned this Outlaw for 10 years and have had some of the best times driving this vehicle. What I love about this Outlaw is you get all the attention of the original ones, but are not scared to drive it. This is a fair-weather ride; it has no top. Always kept up on all issues with top-notch maintenance and parts. This Speedster was kept in a garage under a cover. The next owner will have his/her own stories to share. Good luck!

While I have ridden cross country 3X by motorcycle, I wouldn't put that many miles on this Speedster on it's maiden voyage! South Carolina is a long way from the left coast!!!
Bid in the amount of $3,969
Hi @Merlinst2 - In case a non-local breve bidder wins that auction and decides to drive it home on a 2k miles road trip, would you foresee any issue?
I understand the fuel gauge calibration needs attention and no top is available. Anything else we should take into consideration? Thanks!

@TJ7 hello, yes it’s a CMC Fiberglass kit car I will take some pictures of underneath, the original builder was a salt flat speed racer out of El Cajon California, a very well built vehicle . I have had many VW vehicle this by far is the best running of them all . I have never raced this vehicle, I just drove it and enjoyed it. No issues with the tyranny or engine. I’ll post start ups
Very interesting car, well kept nice condition. Who built this car or is it a kit car originally? I have been chasing a 1955 Beck Spyder replica for some time. Did you race this car? What is the condition and maintenance on the engine and drive train? Do you have any chassis and under carriage pictures? Any start up and walk around, drive around videos available? What size are the wheels and the tires?
Spring time is cruising time , the weather is nice , people are smiling , woman are winking :) what better way to spend the day/weekend than driving a Speedster! Good Luck
