Available for auction are two wooden boat models that represent Ferrari’s little known history in producing boats.

The first is an American Hydrofoil that was shipped over to Italy and sent to the Ferrari factory.  In 1952, Ferrari installed a 4.5-liter Type 375 12-cylinder engine—the same engine found under the hood of the first Ferrari 375 race car to win an F1 event. In 1952 & 1953, Ferrari won their first World Cups with this engine. Ferrari made unique modifications so the engine would be suitable for the water, and the result was unlike any engine ever built. This engine produced 350 bhp. The boat was eventually purchased by Nando Dell’Orto, an engineer, who was the last person to race it. The current owner conducted a complete engine rebuild and restoration of the boat at Ferrari Classiche in 2019 to ensure it was in top shape ahead of its 70th anniversary.

Ferrari’s second venture into boats was more commercial and almost as obscure. In 1970 they entered  into a partnership with the Italian boat manufacturer Riva. Riva was the leading builder of luxury yachts in Italy, and together they built approximately 40 speed boats together. The early boats had the Ferrari engine installed in the existing Riva design while the later boats became more streamlined and distinctive. Powered by the Ferrari Testarossa engine they were known as the Testarossa of the sea. This beautiful model is all wood with real leather seating in Ferrari Red.

They each measure approximately 22” long, 6” wide, and 6” high with the stand. The buyer is responsible for shipping, handling, and fees.
