Step into the captivating world of Ferrari history with this exceptional model of the Nando Dell’ Orto Ferrari V12 Hydroplane. Behold a magnificent model that exudes the essence of Ferrari's legacy. Impeccably preserved and nestled within its original packaging, this masterpiece is a testament to the past. Crafted meticulously from wood, its dimensions of 21” in length, 9” in width, and 9” in height create a striking presence. The attention to detail is nothing short of awe-inspiring, with a genuine leather seat that beckons admiration. According to the seller, similar examples have sold for upwards of $10,000 on auction.
It's not only the craftsmanship that makes this piece extraordinary; it carries with it a tale as intriguing as it is enigmatic. In 1953, Achille Castoldi etched his name in history as he took to the waters of Italy's Lake Iseo with this very vessel. A transcontinental journey saw this American Hydrofoil type boat traverse the ocean to Ferrari's possession in 1951, where a 4.5-liter Type 375 12-cylinder engine was installed. This engine is the same heart that powered the inaugural Ferrari 375 race car to triumph in an F1 event. The years 1952 and 1953 witnessed the first glimmer of Ferrari's ascendancy as they clinched their maiden World Cups with this remarkable powerhouse.
Ferrari's innovation knew no bounds, and the transition from track to water was executed with finesse. The factory's ingenious modifications endowed the engine with aquatic prowess, birthing an engineering marvel that emitted a resounding 350 bhp. The boat's legacy continued its journey, ultimately purchased by Nando Dell’ Orto, an engineering virtuoso, who left his indelible mark as the final racer to harness its prowess.
In the year 2019, the baton of preservation passed to the current owner, who fully restored the boat for display at the esteemed Ferrari Classiche. The boat's 70th anniversary beckoned, and a global odyssey was conducted, gracing cities like Shanghai and Dubai, leaving a trail of wonder in its fully restored glory.
Today, this limited edition model stands as a testament to Ferrari’s iconic heritage, a vessel poised to traverse the realms of time and memory. With a legacy as singular as its form, this is an unparalleled embodiment of Ferrari's ingenuity and heritage. The buyer is responsible for shipping, handling, and fees.

I got my first Ferrari in 1972 and have loved the cars and their history ever since. I had never heard of this boat and acquired it in a large collection of items. I did a little research as to its' history and value and found that one was sold at Southebys 'Ferrari – Leggenda e Passione 2008' sale LOT 214 for 11500 Euros and you can presently pre=order one at the Factory Ferrari Store (store.ferrari.com) for $7,900.
