Available for auction is an original painting of the iconic Ferrari F40 by artist Mike Zagorski. This artwork is finished in acrylic on canvas and measures 24" x 36" x 1-3/8”.

About the Artist:
Originally from Scotland, Mike Zagorski is a Colorado, USA-based artist focused on painting Formula 1 and automotive subjects in a style combining realism to capture the main subject and impressionism for backgrounds. In addition to obsessing over capturing small details, he gravitates towards painting wet races with intermediate or full wet tires, and airborne water droplets! Trained and licensed as an architect, after a 20-year hiatus from artwork while working in the AEC industry, he started painting during the pandemic in 2020. In a very short time, his work has made it into collections around the world and is owned by current and former F1 drivers, employees within the F1 industry, and fans of the sport.

"I grew up in Scotland, moved to the US in 2000, and now call Colorado home. Since 1995 I’ve been a competitive cyclist racing throughout the UK, USA, and Mexico. I’ve won 4 US national championships and a UCI master world championship in 2018. Professionally, I’m a licensed architect and have spent my career working in architecture, construction management, and real estate development. When I was in primary and secondary school in the UK (That’s K-12 for US readers) one of my strengths was art (definitely NOT art history). I always gravitated towards technical/complex images vs abstract/still life, although I really like landscapes. During my first year of studying architecture at university, I produced a few F1 sketches: Nigel Mansell, and two of Gerhard Berger in the Benetton Renault B196 and also the B197. Over the subsequent two decades, I barely touched a paintbrush other than the walls of our house, or our fence. When Covid-19 appeared and Work From Home became standard practice in early 2020 I decided to tackle a painting to maintain sanity. I spent my lunch hours and evenings tackling a 24″x36″ painting on Max Verstappen/Red Bull. It wasn’t exactly productive to work in short stints, but I got there in the end. In mid-November 2020 I was laid off from my job on a Thursday with my final day being Friday the 13th! So appropriate for 2020, right? I posted a progress photo of my Verstappen painting on Reddit (r/formula1) and within 12 hours it had more than 7,000 upvotes. Hmm, maybe I should get prints made! On Friday, I dropped off the original to be professionally captured, had prints made, and haven’t looked back."

One clarification - In the video the left edge of the canvas is partially painted. This area has been painted since the video was shot so that there is no white canvas showing on the edges. That would be lazy! :)

Just over 24hrs remaining. One note to add - I have not made any prints of this painting. If this winning bid meets or exceeds $2000 I will agree to not making any prints available thus giving the buyer a one-off Ferrari F40 painting!

Hi bidders! The majority of my work to date hass been Formula 1 related but I’ve been doing a limited amount of non F1 work. Being an 80’s kid I grew up with posters of the F40, Countach, Lotus Esprit etc on my wall… After seeing a couple F40’s up close in Colorado I finally decided to do a painting of one.

Good luck bidding and please ask any questions.
