Available for auction is a handcrafted Ferrari 250 California Spyder wooden body buck, as seen in the Wilson Collection—a historic restoration tool and rare display piece with direct ties to the legendary Ferrari 250 California Spyder. Originally used in a ground-up, passion-driven build by the renowned Wilson Collection in Florida, this buck played a vital role in shaping the alloy bodywork of a bespoke 1960 Ferrari California Spyder recreation, based on a 1962 Ferrari 330 GT 2+2 chassis.

Cited by trusted sources including FLATSIXES, Hagerty, and the Pelican Parts forum, it was essential in producing accurate body panels using factory diagrams and dimensions. Displayed prominently in the Wilson Collection and later acquired for showroom display, this piece has captivated car enthusiasts and collectors alike.

Larry Wilson stated the Buck was originally acquired from Pininfarina. Now offered due to space constraints, this is a rare opportunity to own a tangible part of Ferrari restoration history—ideal for collectors, restorers, museum curators, or passionate enthusiasts.

The seller states it is in nice condition overall, with signs of use consistent with its functional history. The buyer is responsible for shipping, shipping insurance, handling, and transactional fees. PCARMARKET is not responsible for anything lost or damaged during shipping.

@PorschePhil — I don’t have the exact weight, but it is on the heavier side. The good news is it’s sitting on casters/dollies, so it’s easy to move around. When we've transported it before, we used a car trailer and strapped it down, so shipping costs are about the same as for a car. I can get it shipped to your area for $1,500.

Is there any estimated weight of this thing?? Wondering how much it would cost to ship to Pensacola?

We are very excited to offer this wooden buck! As mentioned in the description, we purchased it from the Larry Wilson collection, and it has been on display in our facility ever since.

Larry claimed it was purchased from Pininfarina and referenced this in a YouTube interview, which you can watch here:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=_nvvh9LbAj8 (at the 11:30 mark).

While he did make this claim both in the video and at the time of our purchase, we want to be transparent in saying there is no concrete proof of that provenance—and frankly, we find it highly unlikely. That being said, it remains an amazing piece, one we know Larry used to build at least one body, and most likely others.

We’ll be posting some photos of the car that was created using this buck. I’m really looking forward to seeing where this unique item ends up, and I’ll be available throughout the auction to answer any questions!
