Ferrari’s flagship sports car throughout the 80s and 90s, the Testarossa features striking bodywork by Pininfarina and was the last Ferrari to be equipped with a flat-12 engine. This 1988 example is a European-market car that was delivered new in the United States, finished in Rosso Corsa over a Crema Connolly leather interior. It was acquired by the seller about 2 years ago who imported the car to Canada and oversaw a major engine-out service as well as refinishing the wheels and installing new tires. This iconic Ferrari Testarossa is now being offered for auction by its seller out of British Columbia.
The Testarossa’s Pininfarina-design bodywork is characterized by its aggressive wedge-shaped profile, straked side air intakes, pop-up headlamps, and flying buttress pillars flanking the vented rear engine cover. This example is finished in traditional Rosso Corsa and is identifiable as a European-spec car by its clear front turn lenses, round side marker lights, and the absence of a third brake light on the engine cover. It has also been fitted with U.S.-spec rear bumpers and rectangular marker lights ahead of the front wheels. Other equipment includes dual mirrors, front fog lights, a front spoiler, quad exhaust outlets, and 16” single-bolt wheels. The seller indicates that the wheels have been refinished and dressed in new Toyo RA-1 tires. Three small paint imperfections are noted on the driver’s rear quarter. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a damage-free CARFAX report.
The cabin is lined with red carpeting contrasted by Crema Connolly leather upholstery on the seats, door panels, headliner, and rear shelf. The driver is situated ahead of a black leather-wrapped three-spoke MOMO steering wheel and analog Veglia Borletti instrumentation with orange markings. Other accessories include power windows and mirrors, an overhead console, a trip odometer, air conditioning, leather luggage straps, and a gated shifter assembly. The seller reports all gauges and accessories to be working properly.
Power comes from a mid-mounted Tipo F113 4.9-liter flat-12 engine with 4-valves-per-cylinder, dry-sump lubrication, Marelli Microplex ignition, and Bosch KE-Jetronic fuel injection. Up to 385 HP is sent to the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The chassis includes front and rear double wishbone suspension as well as four-wheel ventilated disc brakes. The seller indicates a major engine out service was completed by a local specialist in 2022 at a cost of over $30k (CAD) within the last 250 kilometers. There are no outstanding maintenance items reported at this time.
This sale will include some documentation, a toolkit, a spare tire, and a clean title. The CARFAX report shows a not actual mileage title issued in 1992, however, the seller believes that the mileage shown on the odometer is likely accurate.
The seller would like you to know: “Here is your opportunity to buy a legendary Ferrari 12-cylinder with a manual transmission! Even though a big service was completed in 2015, we decided to go through the entire process once more resulting in another major service. Once the engine came out, we gave the repair shop free rein to replace anything else they deemed necessary such as any oil or fuel lines that looked suspect. The result was a major service costing just over $30,000 CAD. With brand new tires and the recent service, this car drives as it should and pulls very strong! Bid with confidence!”

@jbauto - I think so. When we went over the car there were a lot of dried up gaskets and lines which is a good indicator of a vehicle that was unused for a good period of time.
I went thru the Invoices and it shows a lot of work was done. Car sat in NJ for 13 years according to the Carfax. Car collection maybe.
@kancocorp - not sure...someone else noticed that and made a comment about seeing that before on another Euro car but we don't know for sure...sorry
Why is inside the front grill red?
@Russell41 - sorry for the late reply...I'm just waiting on my paint meter to post pics or the actual readings but my detail guy always takes a reading before beginning to polish and he said all panels read in the 18.5 to 21 range
