Available for auction is an original Giclee print that has been created using fade-resistant, pigment-based inks on heavy, 305gsm Hahnemühle FineArt paper, typically used for long-term exhibitions and art collections. The piece measures 50” x 39.5” and is finished by hand with chalk pastels and wax-based Prismacolor pencils for a truly original, one-of-a-kind piece of automotive artwork. This piece is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity signed by the artist Stephan Koch. The piece shows a pristine Porsche 356 near the sand dunes of Sylt, an island off the northern coast of Germany. Sylt plays host to the annual Petro-Surf festival that brings together 356s, 914s, air-cooled 911s, and a whole bunch of like-minded Porsche owners for three days of seaside shenanigans.

A U.S. Army brat, Stephan spent much of his childhood in Germany, where his father was stationed. He fondly remembers traveling the Autobahn in his family’s 348 V8 Chevrolet Kingswood station wagon, all the while being passed by German cars often doing 120 mph! His great Aunt owned a house on Germany’s island of Sylt where, if you wished to bring your automobile on the island, you had to load it on the car train or “autozug”. Because the Kingswood was often 20+ inches longer than the average German car (the Mercedes-Benz 280SE, for example, measured ‘only’ 193 inches in length), his father was always charged double the price! It is this heritage and appreciation of his automotive past that Stephan brings to his work. His style of art is very colorful and bold. It is heavily based on the design principles of the Bauhaus movement that he studied in college, which emphasized Swiss functionality, simplicity—and vibrancy.

The seller states the Giclee will include shipping unframed within the United States in a heavy-duty tube. Buyers outside the continental United States are responsible for shipping, handling, and fees.

Ecosse – thank you for your interest and bid. Very much appreciated. With this piece, once my original digital art is output to archival paper, it is signed and numbered as a ‘one and only’ giclee’ print. To take it a step further, I add the final embellishments and vibrancy with colored pencils and chalk pastels, for a truly original, one-of-one piece of Porsche artwork. Please let me know if I can answer any questions.

Thank you for your interest in my original, hand finished Giclee of a pristine Porsche 356 around the sand dunes of Sylt. This is the first in a series that combines the beauty of the wind-swept island with iconic models from the storied history of Porsche.

As noted in the description, the piece includes shipping unframed within the United States in a heavy-duty tube. This allows you to frame it as you wish.

Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any questions. Happy bidding!
