Available for auction is a Driver Development Simulations racing simulator with motion and force feedback. This setup includes a 3DOF motion system controlling pitch, yaw, roll, and simulated rear traction loss. The driver sits in an FRP high bolster racing seat mounted to hydraulic rams. An Intel i7 computer with Nvidia graphics and a 5.1 surround sound system is used to operate the unit. Among the available features are an HPP pedal assembly with adjustable spring assemblies, as well as a direct drive steering wheel with paddle shifters. Below is a video showing the setup in action.

By replicating real-world physics variables such as tire grip, traction, suspension geometry, and aerodynamics, this simulator provides remarkably realistic driving experiences. Today's simulation software provides advanced tire models with slip angle and sidewall deflection physics, detailed suspension geometry, as well as extremely detailed tracks thanks to laser scanning. As a result, it provides the most accurate representation of driving a race car.

I see that the unit has three paddles. I sometimes like to drive in manual mode. Does the unit come with a manual shifter? Of not, can it be purchased and installed as an option and how much will be the cost? Thank you!

  • porscheklaus (seller) 2 years, 3 monthsago

@RockyS of course ! We want everyone to enjoy the machine!! As Jake stated, we wanted the unit to be easy to operate and to set up. There are only 6 plug ins, steering, seat, pedal assemly, monitor, sound, key board.

  • RockyS (registered bidder) 2 years, 3 monthsago

@porscheklaus I am not a computer guru either and that makes me nervous. If I need help getting it up and running will you assist via tel con?

  • RockyS 2 years, 3 monthsago

Bid in the amount of $5,200

  • porscheklaus (seller) 2 years, 3 monthsago

@RockyS again, the sim comes with all needed software for it to run the steering, pedals, seat movement, but, you must select your own "driving sortware" whether it be "I race" , " project cars" etc. We will also supply the monitor with the machine , should you care to change or add to the monitor, I am certain you are far more familiar with how to do that. I'm the driver. I show up and get in, rather like my racing career. It could be that you're over thinking this ... it's really quite simple....if I can run this, anyone can . Really ! ?

  • RockyS (registered bidder) 2 years, 3 monthsago

@porscheklaus Can you provide the computer specs as the software you suggest has computer requirements for the new software they are offering? Can you add monitors on either side to create a full cockpit feel?

  • porscheklaus (seller) 2 years, 3 monthsago

@RockyS there is a freight co here in town who can package the machine up and I'll be happy to help deliver it to them etc.

  • porscheklaus (seller) 2 years, 3 monthsago

    @RockyS you'll fit just fine!

  • RockyS (registered bidder) 2 years, 3 monthsago

Is the seat position adjustable for longer legs? I am 6'-1" 190lbs

  • RockyS (registered bidder) 2 years, 3 monthsago

Can you advise on the crating and shipping? Will you be crating and making it ready to ship? Will you work with the freight company to load?

  • Sedrak 2 years, 3 monthsago

Bid in the amount of $5,100

  • porscheklaus (seller) 2 years, 3 monthsago

@Brcjets the demo is being auctioned as is. I'm shorter but stocky at 210lbs and fit comfortably

  • Brcjets (registered bidder) 2 years, 3 monthsago

Sorry if it’s been discussed already. Are there seat size options available?
    Thanks

  • porscheklaus (seller) 2 years, 3 monthsago

@RockyS Please read the 3 page reply, All of your questions will be answered. Thank you

  • RockyS (registered bidder) 2 years, 3 monthsago

What is the footprint of the area needed to set up and operate the machine? Is there a warranty? How difficult is set up? Is everything included ie. computers, cables, monitor etc.

  • porscheklaus (seller) 2 years, 3 monthsago

@lando We are retailing this sim new for $28,750.00 plus shipping. Comparable sims (even without rear movement) can retail for as much as $50,000 +

  • lando 2 years, 3 monthsago

what is the approximate cost of this simulator brand new?

  • porscheklaus (seller) 2 years, 3 monthsago

@TheBlueBeast The Sim includes all of the hardware needed, frame, seat, pedals, steering rear seat movement monitor and sound bar. The needed software to operate all of these components is included, but, yes, you will "down load" or subscribe to what-ever driving software you decide on. The driving software is licensed, we don't own that. You may, for example want to use "project cars' but, not want to "I-race" or visa versa. In addition, the driving software is constantly up-dated, particularly on "I-race" . We do not provide that access. We provide the machine that makes all of that an addiction. Make sense? :)
Perhaps I should stress, this is not really a toy. Personally, I think of it as a fantastic piece of training equipment... it is a blast though :)

  • TheBlueBeast (registered bidder) 2 years, 3 monthsago

@porscheklaus So am I to understand that there is no software built-in to it? And this must be a subscription based program with a monthly fee?

  • porscheklaus (seller) 2 years, 3 monthsago

@TheBlueBeast We are currently running a number of different software systems (iRacing, Project cars, Assetto Corsa) I am a fan of Project cars as I like its ease of use (I am NOT a computer guy, trust me here) but, you will need to decide which software you will want to run and "subscribe" to.

  • TheBlueBeast (registered bidder) 2 years, 3 monthsago

@porscheklaus Good afternoon, how many vehicles and tracks are loaded in the program ? Are street vehicles like 2019 ZR1 corvette or Corvette C8 preloaded. How about tracks like Sebring and Daytona autocross ?

  • porscheklaus (seller) 2 years, 3 monthsago

I need to emphasize that I am NOT a gamer, truly not. I couldn't play a video game to save my life. THIS is nothing like a video "game".

  • porscheklaus (seller) 2 years, 3 monthsago

@Jdellavalle I am not certain I understand the question. The software we are running does include rally cars and certain tracks. I must admit, I am a smooth pavement guy and have yet to try them. I have had a couple of rather large shunts that were pretty violent, the Sim does not seem to mind. Thank God for a reset button rather than writing off million dollar cars :)

  • Jdellavalle (registered bidder) 2 years, 3 monthsago

How much vertical motion does the rig support. I am considering fro a rally sim.

  • TheBlueBeast (registered bidder) 2 years, 3 monthsago

    @porscheklaus Thank you.

  • porscheklaus (seller) 2 years, 3 monthsago

@TheBlueBeast We shipped one to St. Louis a couple of years ago, About $300. With increased shipping costs, an "estimated" $450 - $500 ?

  • porscheklaus (seller) 2 years, 3 monthsago

@TheBlueBeast Sorry, not a clue. there is a shipping company here in town from whom I may be able to get a quote... but, they are closed until Tuesday. Will try...

  • TheBlueBeast (registered bidder) 2 years, 3 monthsago

Any idea what the cost to package and ship to West palm Beach Florida ??

  • porscheklaus (seller) 2 years, 3 monthsago

Additional content has been added to the gallery for this listing.

  • porscheklaus (seller) 2 years, 3 monthsago

@beachedferrari of course. I just got out of it...5 laps of the Nurbergring.... enough! ?

  • beachedferrari (registered bidder) 2 years, 3 monthsago

Would a list of hardware be included so in the future if something breaks or needs replaced we can source it?

    Part 3

I know it is bit long winded but, we wanted to make certain we answered everything.

This is exactly what we built. To answer some other questions.
The unit complete weighs around 200 pounds.
On this unit we use a Bose sound bar. This sounds great and makes the portability easier.
There is not a website. We have built these units for other people in a similar situation as us purely on a word of mouth basis. Our new units carry the factory warrantee from the hardware suppliers. We began building them in 2018 and have built 5 units.
The Motioncontrol software is updatable and the unit is compatible with all the major sim racing platforms. (iRacing, Project cars, Assetto Corsa ETC)
The Unit includes all drivers and controllers necessary to run the system. The owner will have to open his or her own iRacing and Steam profiles.
Floor space required is 4 foot by 7 foot area
All of the hardware can be purchased from the manufactures. What we did was design and build the most versatile rig we could that is extremely robust, portable, economical in comparison to other offerings in the marketplace and paired it with the components that we tested and found to be the best in terms of quality, reliability and realism. We believe that there is nothing that can match the quality and versatility of this unit at this price point. Like I stated earlier the unit closest to this we found was over $50,000.00, did NOT have a rear traction module and was not nearly as portable.
This is a turn key full motion simulator.
If you want to know more about Gabe Tesch and his story you can find him at www.Gabet48c.com , on Facebook at Do Something Extraordinary, or his personal page Gabe Tesch

    Sincerely,
    Jake Tesch

    Part 2

    4. We found in our testing that simulators where the seat moves separately from the wheel and pedal box were also more intuitive than simulators where the wheel and pedals moved with the entire unit. With the seat moving separately from the wheels and pedals the driver actually experiences something similar to G forces under breaking and acceleration where his or her arms and legs push against the wheel or pull away from it. While you cannot actually simulate real G forces, this cues the driver to the fact that the vehicle is loading and in which direction. Other units were numb in this area and felt more like a carnival ride than an intuitive training tool.
    5. Most units we tested were ergonomically wrong. Even though they all had nice racing seats they felt like you were driving a truck. The pedals were too low the wheel was too straight up and down and the seat sat too upright with very little tilt adjustment. What we did was to build a wood model and brought in a 4 time SCCA national champion and factory test driver to make our cockpit feel like a race car.
    6. Since my son is an aspiring racing driver who is constantly seeking sponsorship we wanted our investment to serve a dual purpose. Not only did we want it to sharpen his driving skills but also as a ROI we could offer sponsors and a promotional tool we could use at events for non profits. As a result the unit needed to be easily set up torn down and transportable. We can disconnect, partially dismantle and load this unit in a standard pick up in less that 20 minutes, we then can unload, reassemble and be up and running in less than 30 minutes. On a dolly the sim can be rolled through a 32 inch doorway. We have ran the simulator at charity events and car shows with close to a hundred people a day driving the simulator without a hick up. We have auctioned off a private 2 hour party using the sim for over $750.00.

To answer all the question you had, I spoke to Jake Tesch today who actually built the Machine and rather than repeat what was said, please read his response below. It will be in two parts. Hopefully this answers any questions you may have had.

In 2017, My son Gabe Tesch was racing karts and aspiring to cars. We saw the benefit of a high quality full motion driving simulator and want to acquire one for him to train with. Unfortunately the units we were looking at were well beyond our budget with our number one pick starting at $55,000.00. Over the next several months we did a massive amount of research on professional grade full motion simulators. We created on paper exactly what we wanted. These were our requirements.
    1. The highest quality hardware (Wheel base, Pedals and actuators) that would be accurate, reliable and durable.
    2. Realistic motion that is not like a carnival ride. We found through testing many units that too much motion is distracting to the operator and does not give the driver accurate cues as to the dynamics of the vehicle they are driving.
    3. 3DOF. In addition to a dual actuator seat mover like the favorite simulator on our demo list we also found some sims had a rear traction loss module that simulates rear traction loss. This was the most intuitive feedback we got from any sim we tested. Rear traction simulation is what we feel allows non gamer types to be able to adapt to and drive our unit. This is a seat of the pants que that allows the driver to actually “feel” in his or her butt when the rear of the car began to break free.

  • cerb1958 (registered bidder) 2 years, 3 monthsago

@cerb1958 I meant to ask total weight, not total cost.

  • cerb1958 (registered bidder) 2 years, 3 monthsago

is there a website? floor space required? Total cost? Number sold? software updates? who designs the software? Speakers included? Guarantee/ warranty? years company has been in business? so much more people will want to know for this sort of investment.

  • porscheklaus (seller) 2 years, 3 monthsago

... I keep thinking of stuff.... this machine is totally portable. It will fit through any 3 foot doorway and can be quickly assembled. Perfect for events, parties.....
