Up for auction is this original painting by artist Michael Ledwitz. "The Home Stretch..." is an incredibly unique painting based off of the legendary Porsche 917 "Hippie Car". While it was the red #23 Porsche 917 that claimed the first ever trophy for the Stuttgart manufacturer in 1970, it was the second-placed #3 Hippie Porsche that set the racing world alight with its psychedelic livery. The "Hippie Car" would go on to become one of the most iconic racecars in automotive history. This pieces captures the moment that #3 flies down the home stretch at the 24 hours of Le Mans. The theme of this painting is derived from the abstract and eye-catching colors of this impressive vehicle produced by Porsche. This original and bespoke automotive art piece will make for a wonderful addition to any automotive enthusiast / art collection.
Michael Ledwitz is known for his abstract style similar to Peter Max and LeRoy Neiman. His love for the arts started with drawing cars at a very young age and was inspired from Hot Wheels. Michael's art is coveted in the automotive industry and has led to many high-level pieces including the artwork done for Carrol Shelby's 85th birthday celebration. Michael's professional career in automotive art started after he was in a near fatal car accident in 2005. He was forced to slow down from work in franchising in order to heal. His painting began as a hobby; a way to relax and reflect. Soon after, people started to notice Michael’s talent and began requesting commissioned pieces of their own. Since then, Michael’s accomplishments include silent auction pieces for Zoo Atlanta, commissioned paintings for Carroll Shelby’s 85th birthday in Las Vegas, Shelby Licensee, and he was the featured artist for the 2018 Atlanta Concours ‘d Elegance at Chateau Elan.
This piece is sized 36" x 48". The buyer is responsible for shipping, handling, and fees.
