Available for auction is an original art piece by DC art depicting the number 186 race-winning Porsche 959 Dakar Rally car driven by René Metge. The basis is a high-quality canvas measuring 28” x 55” x 1 ½”. Highlighting this incredible piece is the use of original desert sand from one of the original routes of the 1986 Dakar Rally. A faithful Porsche 959 Paris Dakar drives on the sand, driven by René Metge. Dynamic, at the limit, leaving its mark in the sand. In 1986, three Porsche 959s plowed through the African sand, finishing 1st, 2nd and 6th. After 13,800 km in 22 days only 67 participants of the 488 starters arrived in Dakar. Porsche took first place with René Metge/Dominique Lemoyne and second place with Jacky Ickx/Claude Brasseur and sixth place with Roland Kussmaul and co-driver (the third vehicle was only intended as a support vehicle). After this success, Porsche saw the mission of the Paris-Dakar Rally fulfilled and did not compete in any desert rallies in the years that followed.



After hours in the Porsche Museum and a visit to the original 959 Dakar Rally, the fascination simply had to be brought to canvas and one of the personal highlights of the artist behind DCart was created.
