Available for auction is a Rothmans Racing Porsche shield. Crafted from 1/4" thick aluminum with a curved design, this Rothmans Racing piece measures 22" x 16" and weighs approximately 8 lbs. The back of the crest features an official Porsche tag from the Porsche Experience Center in Italy.
Rothmans Racing, a renowned name in the automotive industry, joined forces with factory Porsche race teams starting in 1982. This collaboration played a pivotal role in the triumph of the iconic Porsche 956, securing a 1-2-3 finish at the 1982 24 Hours of Le Mans. Throughout the 80s, they went on to clinch the championship three more times. In 1985, Rothmans-Porsche claimed the World Sportscar Championship title before eventually withdrawing from the series in 1987. In 1984, Porsche specially manufactured the 911 SC RS rally car for Rothmans, partnering with the newly formed Prodrive team led by David Richards. The rally dominance continued as Rothmans also sponsored the victorious Porsche team at the 1986 Paris-Dakar Rally. Towards the late 80s, Rothmans Racing concluded its involvement with Porsche. The buyer is responsible for shipping, handling, and fees.
