Available for auction is a large illuminated Mobil 1 sign. Each large letter measures approximately 31” inches in height, and 23” inches in length, with a depth of 6” inches. The sign's total length is approximately 14' feet and 9" inches. The sign is constructed of plastic and features 220v circuitry with fluorescent lighting. The sign features the Mobil 1 logo and reads in German “Porsche empfiehlt Mobil 1” which translates to Porsche recommends Mobil 1. Each letter is separately illuminated with most of the sign in blue and the letter “o” lit in red, reflecting the colors of their logo. The letters have been mounted on a metal frame and can therefore be hung as a group.
In an effort to preserve the sign's originality, the seller elected to keep the original fluorescent lighting and wiring. The seller states the sign is in great overall condition and all the lights are working properly. The seller notes the sign was originally installed on a building and the wires have been cut.
Originally named the Vacuum Oil Company in 1866, Mobil didn’t identify as Mobil until the mid-1960s when they officially changed their name to Mobil Oil Corporation. The company then launched a wide-reaching identity program to emphasize its new Mobil identity.

I only see 5 pictures; none of the wiring or backs. I think one of them is the sign lit up, but it is a little hard to see. So it's just the wires trimmed short on the back of each letter? Is there a ballast or transformer? I'm on the east coast (19711). Thanks.
@Metaphysician Hi, all letters are boxed up already. 2 letters per box. There are individual wires on each letter. It is all original and the Porsche 1 does light up as well. Please see all pictures. I have a guy that can deliver it. Or I can ship. What state are you in? Thank you
Can you please provide pictures of the back/frame and what's left of the wiring and ballast/transformer? Does the "1" square also light up? Is the frame original? Wondering if for shipping, would it be easier to remove the letters and box them up individually, rather than a single 15' long flat. Thanks.
