Available for auction is a rare Porsche Dauer 962 LeMans crest. With relatively high construction numbers and excellent parts availability, Porsche’s 962 inevitably became the Group C platform of choice for street-legal conversions. This paved way for a variety of well-known tuning companies to offer their own interpretations of a road-going 962. Perhaps the most successful exponent was Dauer Sportwagen, the firm established by ex-962 racer Jochen Dauer after closing his racing team in early 1991. Dauer purchased several unused chassis from Porsche who by this time had almost completely wound down the 962 operation and within a couple of months, Dauer had a standard-bodied red prototype up and running. Porsche was helpful in an unofficial capacity assisting Dauer in sourcing parts and providing technical advice. The collaboration was later stepped up a notch when the two companies joined forces to manufacture a contender for the 1994 Le Mans 24 Hours. The result was the dominating 962 LM ‘Sport’, an enhanced GT1-class competition version that duly won the race outright and was banned from participating in 1995. Rare Dauer collectible piece doesn't present itself to the public often, don't miss your opportunity to add a piece of Porsche history to your collection. This crest measures 22" x 16", has a convex curve, and weighs 8lbs. Buyer is responsible for shipping, handling, and fees.
