Available for auction is a Mobil Dienst neon sign thought to be from the 1960s. Dienst, meaning service in English, was a widely used advertisement at Mobil stations throughout Germany and Europe. The “Mobil” portion of the sign measures approximately 82” inches in length and 28” inches in height while the “Dienst” portion of the sign measures approximately 98” inches in length and 28” inches in height. The Mobil Dienst sign features neon tubing that illuminates most of the sign in blue, with the letter “o” lit in red, reflecting the colors of their logo. The individual letters have been mounted on a stainless-steel backing and can therefore be hung as a group.
Each letter is constructed of a blue metal enclosure with neon glass tubing. The seller states the glass tubes are probably original and their construction is consistent with neon tubes from the early 1960s. The seller states the sign is in great overall condition, all the neon lights up brilliantly giving off a warm glow. The sign was restored sometime in the 1990s by the previous owner and the wiring was refreshed. The sign is wired for 220v European circuitry with a European plug.
Originally named the Vacuum Oil Company in 1866, Mobil didn’t identify as Mobil until the mid-1960s when they officially changed their name to Mobil Oil Corporation. The company then launched a wide-reaching identity program to emphasize its new Mobil identity.
Don’t miss your opportunity to own this beautiful neon Mobil Dienst sign as ones like this do not come up for sale often. The buyer is responsible for shipping, shipping insurance, handling, and transactional fees.
The seller would like you to know: “The previous owner got the sign in 1990, restored it once, and renewed the electronics, the glass tubes are probably still original from the early 60s. Very thick and solid glass tubes. Very rare to get.”

@Francosgarage Hi, sure. I'll take care of everything, the shipping won't be too expensive either.
@mcoupejeff Thank you very much, a really special piece. I can help with shipping, it doesn't cost too much shipping to America
If I paid you extra would you be able to crate these for international shipping ? I live in Texas
What an amazing piece of garage art, but I can’t fathom how I could get this to the states for anything reasonable.
