Available for auction is this original painting by automotive artist Michael Ledwitz. This 36" x 48" art piece is finished in acrylic with brush and marker. This original painting, "My 356" captures the iconic yet simple shape of the Porsche 356. This acrylic painting composes pastel accents, with actual Silver leaf for the hub caps then topped off with resin and acrylic. This painting was inspired by the pure function and simplicity of the Porsche 356.

Michael Ledwitz is known for his abstract style similar to Peter Max and LeRoy Neiman. His love for the arts started with drawing cars at a very young age and was inspired by Hot Wheels. Michael's art is coveted in the automotive industry and has led to many high-level pieces including the artwork done for Carrol Shelby's 85th birthday celebration. Michael's professional career in automotive art started after he was in a near-fatal car accident in 2005. He was forced to slow down from work in franchising in order to heal. His painting began as a hobby; a way to relax and reflect. Soon after, people started to notice Michael’s talent and began requesting commissioned pieces of their own. Since then, Michael’s accomplishments include silent auction pieces for Zoo Atlanta, commissioned paintings for Carroll Shelby’s 85th birthday in Las Vegas, Shelby Licensee, and was the featured artist for the 2018 Atlanta Concours d'Elegance at Chateau Elan.

@automotiveartist - I had not been thinking along those lines ... after 2-3 minute of thought I began to realize that I have no imagination worth putting to paint, other than the obvious notion Ferrari's ought to be painted with a putty-knife, because most seem to be so angular.

I recognize "My 356" (which I think is a 356 C) has a personality that a photograph cannot render, yet I don't know what to do with that extra dimension.

I'd rather buy a lithograph or serigraph before putting down serious money on something that might not be my cup of tea.

The only class I ever failed was "Italian Renaissance Art to 1500", probably because I majored in mathematics, and dealt too much with abstract concepts.

My answer is I don't know if commissioning a painting is what I should be doing. But I will review your work and if anything comes to mind I'll let you know.

I love the painting style, technique, subject and colors ... but 4 feet by 3 feet is pretty darn large. It would dominate any wall.

Hello everyone. Thank you for your interest and bid. I sincerely appreciate it. This painting has a lot more layers to it. The biggest addition to this paintings from my others is that I have put RESIN on top of the paint to cover and expand the depth of this painting. I have also accented the painting with chalk pastels throughout the body of the car prior to the resin pour. Finally I have accented on top of the resin with acrylic paint to really make it pop. If you have any questions, please ask.
