Available for auction is an authentic illuminated Shell Oil sign believed to be from the 1970s. The sign measures approximately 5’ feet in length and 5’ feet in height with a width of 8” inches. An Underwriter Laboratories Inc. sticker can be seen on the side of the sign which was a company that certified products tested by UL investigators. The sign is constructed of a metal backing and frame with the iconic Shell logo molded from polycarbonate acrylic.
The internal sign components are accessed via the sign's removable face. The sign's original fluorescent lighting has been updated to energy-efficient LED lights and is powered by 110 v circuitry. The seller states the sign is in good overall condition but does show signs of aging in the form of light scratches on the polycarbonate face and some corrosion on the metal frame.
