Available for auction is a painting by DCart depicting the Porsche 935 Gr.5 Max Moritz Jägermeister DRM 1978 #5 at the Nürburgring driven by Manfred Schurti. The painting measures 32” x 24” finished on a high-quality canvas from Gerstaeker and the best paints from Marabu then finished with high-gloss synthetic resin. Handcrafted aluminum elements are used to recreate the effect of the various aluminum components found in the 935. An unusually thick layer was used to achieve the maximum depth effect in the painting and give the colors incredible brilliance and depth. To further enhance the depth effect, real leaves and fine dirt from the road were worked into some of the layers. The painting alone creates enthusiasm through its brilliance, but when discovering and dreaming of the 935, the viewer finally sinks into the fascination of the iconic Porsche racecar.
In the 1970s, the Max Moritz Racing Team made some of the racing cars that are still best known today. The different Porsches in bright orange Jägermeister livery are legendary. The legendary Porsche 935 with Manfred Schurti at the controls in flight through the green hell, the Nürburgring Nordschleife. Of course, in one of the most famous war paints of all, the Jägermeister livery. Max Moritz: in 1950, Max Moritz became one of the first Porsche dealers and, in addition to Volkswagen, also offered sports cars from Zuffenhausen. The Max Moritz car dealership became the most successful dealer for Volkswagen and Porsche in Germany, and in 1970 the third brand, Audi, was added. With the Jägermeister Group 5 Porsche 935, Manfred Schurti made it into the top group of the German Racing Championship. Here the small team of Max Moritz competed against the Cologne teams of Georg Loos and the Kremer brothers. Everyone put their trust in Porsche racing cars and the constellation in the big division made for some exciting races. Schurti was able to benefit from his experience as a Porsche test driver and annoyed the Cologne teams, who were mostly equipped with better material, time and time again.
Manfred Schurti is still the best-known and most successful racing driver in the Principality of Liechtenstein. He was born in Austria on Christmas Eve 1941, in the middle of the Second World War, and began his career in Formula Vee in the late 1960s. In 1970, a world championship was held for this racing formula, which Schurti won. In 1972 he won the overall classification of the Formula Super Vau Castrol Trophy and the International Castrol GTX Trophy. In the same year he was voted Sportsman of the Year in Liechtenstein. The entry and switch to Formula 2 was not very successful - there were only four starts here from 1973 to 1976 - so that Schurti turned to touring and sports car racing from 1976 onwards. He drove in the German Racing Championship and in the Sports Car World Championship. In the German Racing Championship, he was able to win a total of three races. In 1980 he drove in the Procar series, where he was victorious once.
Schurti started nine times in the 24 Hours of Le Mans; with the best result in 1976 when he finished fourth overall with Rolf Stommelen. The Liechtensteiner also wrote motorsport history at Le Mans. In 1975 he was part of the only five-man team that made the final classification. He finished fifth together with Gijs van Lennep, Toine Hezemans, John Fitzpatrick and Georg Loos. This unique and brand-new work of art is the result of the emotions of this golden era of motorsport. Real, brutal, and formidable racing cars driven by brave and talented racers on the most difficult and demanding circuits in the world.
