A favorite amongst enthusiasts since its debut in 2006, the Porsche Cayman has been the premier mid-engine sports car in Porsche’s lineup, and the 981 generation combines modern amenities with visceral driving engagement. This 2016 example is finished in Black and features a naturally aspirated 3.4-liter flat-six engine paired with a 6-speed manual transmission as well as the optional Sport Exhaust System, Guards Red seatbelts, a SportDesign steering wheel, and the Convenience Package. This Cayman S was acquired by its seller in August 2022 as a Porsche Approved Certified Pre-Owned vehicle and is now being offered for auction out of New York while showing approximately 19k miles on the odometer.
This Cayman S is finished in Black and rides on 19” Boxster S wheels dressed in Pirelli tires from June 2021. Exterior details include side air intakes, a speed-activated rear spoiler, and the optional Sport Exhaust System which adds dual sport tailpipes. The black standard leather interior features an optional SportDesign steering wheel, Guards Red seatbelts, the Convenience Package, and a fire extinguisher. Additionally, it has been modified with an aftermarket Kenwood DMX7704S head unit featuring built-in Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, and an In-Dash Digital Media Receiver. The factory stereo system is said to accompany the sale as well.
This Cayman S is equipped with a naturally-aspirated 3.4-liter flat-six engine that sends up to 340 HP to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission. It also came from the factory optioned with the Sport Exhaust System which includes louder mufflers with electronically operated valves. Acceleration from 0-60 MPH takes place in approximately 4.6 seconds while reaching top speeds north of 175 MPH. The seller notes the car is up-to-date on maintenance with the last major service performed in June 2023. The Porsche CPO warranty remains in effect until August 2024.
This sale will include two keys, a clean title, a toolkit, an air pump, owner’s manuals, and extensive documentation.
The seller would like you to know: "Thank you for visiting my auction. I have owned this car since August 2022, only selling due to an RS America that became available. I had to do very little to bring this car to concours standards."

@GTPORSCHE From the Porsche Warranty Section as part of the official Porsche site "Full transferability if sold privately or to a Porsche Centre" Second from the bottom bullets.

@porschenova re: CPO being transferable , where did you confirm that? That will be a condition of sale/purchase.
@GTPORSCHE Is Porsche Certified Pre Owned warranty transferable?
In the event of a resale, the Porsche Approved Warranty even enhances the value of your Porsche, as it is fully transferable provided the car is sold privately or to a Porsche Centre.
Will you facilitate the sale through a Porsche dealer so the CPO transfers to next owner?

@991c4s Thank you 1carnut, The 2016 Cayman S has a 3.4 liter- 325 hp engine.
Engine specifications listed by seller are correct.
Did you upgrade the engine with the GTS version? A Cayman S should have a 2.7 litre, 275 HP engine.
@Gthopefull Appreciate the props! A major service was done June 23,2022, pictures are in the gallery. In addition a complete CPO was given with a checklist of 19 pages. The clutch, brakes/pads/rotors were visually inspected and considered to be in excellent condition. The Cayman at inspection had 18975 miles indicated, currently 19,311. I asked one of the technician who did the inspection, how many miles did this car act like and he said without hesitation not more than 7000 miles, take that for what its worth However I made the decision to pay a premium for the Cayman based on my test drive and his professional assessment.
Great car!
Seller what is the current condition of the clutch?
Also, what is the condition of the brakes/pads/rotors?
Thanks.
@plresultsman Quick Reply: NO- If I was going to buy a car from a dealership and pay more than I should , CPO etc. it better be excellent and have a history. Porsche, Freeport sold the car new and the second owner purchased it also from them. They were able to confirm that the car had never been tracked and both owners treated the Cayman very well. The car looked and drove great, reminded me of my 914 with power and sound. I felt it was concour worthy and treated it that way in my year of ownership, taking first place in my class in a Metro NY event.
@porschenova: thanks for the quick response.
@Seller: Do you know if the car has been tracked?
@richjs43 I don't have any records as to when the PPF was installed on the hood, fenders and front clip. I can only tell you in all my PPF cars this has to be one of the best applications. There are no chips, that I can observe, under the PPF. The PPF will give high readings when measured .
richjs43 My purchase date has been corrected to August 2022, thank you. You are very fortunate to have the experience of driving many cars. As Mr.. Porsche once may have said my next car will be my favorite, enjoy
@porschenova: when was the PPF installed, and are there any chips under it. Also 2 of the paint meter readings seem high (pictures 106 and 108). It looks like one is the front fender and the other is the hood (frunk). thanks
@porschenova: you indicated that you owned the car since August 2023…should that have been 2022??
Awesome Cayman! You are going to love the RS America. I owned one back in 1993, it was the NY Autoshow car, in Ferrari Fly Yellow, one of three that color in the US. I have owned over 65 cars in the last 40+ years, it was by far my favorite. The RS had an MSRP over $65k, the market for that car was very weak at the time, bought it for $50k!! Best deal ever…Of course, today the value has skyrocketed. Good luck with this auction and safe/fun miles with the RS.
Bid in the amount of $25,000
I will be happy to answer any questions to give you a better understanding of my Cayman S. I've had the pleasure of selling a few cars thru PCAR. The most recent was a 2016 GT3RS with 7090 miles. I can assure you that this Cayman is as fresh as a 7000 mile car. I hope you can get a sense of the optional Porsche factory exhaust, my first test drive reminded me of the low tones and engine gurgle of my GT3.
