Finished in Jet Black Metallic over Black leather upholstery with Platinum Grey stitching, this 2016 Porsche 981 Cayman GT4 features bi-xenon headlights in Black with Porsche Dynamic Light System, full carbon fiber bucket seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, PCM with navigation, and much more. Modified with a Soul Performance cat-less exhaust, a GMP roll cage, Schroth Racing harnesses, a Soul Performance ECU tune, GiroDisc brake rotors, and RSNV rear wing risers, this GT4 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Tennessee.
Based on the 981 Cayman, the GT4 features a unique front end with a lip spoiler and larger grilles, side air intake scoops, and a rear diffuser with dual center-mounted tailpipes. This example is finished in Jet Black Metallic and features bi-xenon headlights in Black with Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS). It rides on Satin Black-painted 20” GT4 wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. Modifications include an OMP front tow strap and RSNV rear wing risers. Track use is reported, and a ding is noted on the driver's rear quarter. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a CARFAX report noting front-end damage in September 2017.
The cabin presents Black leather upholstery with Platinum Grey stitching, full carbon bucket seats, and Silver Grey seatbelts. Additional options include dual-zone automatic climate control, the Light Design Package, a fire extinguisher, SiriusXM® Satellite Radio Receiver & HD Radio® Receiver, auto-dimming mirrors with an integrated rain sensor, PCM including navigation, and illuminated carbon fiber door sills. Schroth racing harnesses and a GMP roll cage have also been fitted. The seller notes some signs of wear including some loose dashboard upholstery.
Power comes from a replacement mid-mounted 3.8-liter flat-six engine, reportedly fitted at approximately 8k miles in April 2018. The rear wheels are driven through a 6-speed manual transmission and limited-slip differential. Additionally, an extended-range fuel tank (16.91 gal) has been selected. Modifications include Soul Performance cat-less headers, a Soul Performance exhaust, and an ECU tune. The seller states the oxygen sensors were replaced and the oil was changed in 2024. The seller reports heavy track brake pads have been fitted, which are said to squeak until they have reached optimal operating temperature. Additionally, the front rotors show surface cracks, although they are said to have plenty of life remaining.
This sale will include a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: "This GT4 is incredibly fun to drive. Whether on the mountain roads or at the track, it is a true performance machine."

Can we come take a look at it?
Offer in the amount of $80,000
Thanks to all for the bids and comments! We were a little off on this one. Feel free to reach out with any questions. And please feel free to make an offer...I think many of you may be surprised.
Cheers,
Miles
$81.5k was probably top dollar in this market. This was exactly the spec I'm looking for but I have to factor in the unknown track history. I could get a low mile example in the 90s with a clean DME and no track history. Upgrading brakes and adding harnesses plus roll bar is cheap compared to engine rebuilds, clutches, and transmissions.
The market for these have dipped from the days of Covid. A lot of current owner are left holding the bag.
Seller needs to get realistic on the price. Market here and BAT has spoken.
Does it seem like a majority of bids are ending up in the DealTank? Seems like every car I am interested in has a significant gap between Reserve, Final Bid and BIN price.

Ok, thanks. Does TN use an OBD2 type device for emissions checks? Also, can you touch on the front end damage? What happened? Have pictures? Thanks.
@Blubusdrvr No it was coded out. Does not throw an engine light now.
Thanks!
Miles
So without CATs was it throwing a CEL and was coded out with the tune? Just wondering about it passing inspection and emissions testing.
Hi All,
Please let me know of any last minute questions or requests in the remaining hours of the listing. Ill be around the car throughout the auction end. Shipping and storage is available. Please reach out for a quote.
Thanks!
Miles
@cdmotor1532 Although rarely used, it is for race track towing. Generally they are more of an aesthetic piece to make the car look more racecar like. It can be removed along with the tow hook.
Thanks!
Miles
@cdmotor1532 Tow strap. Usually required for track days/DE.
What is the red fabric “handle” affixed to the front bumper used for? I’ve seen it before on other Porsches, but don’t know the purpose.
@DDMF17 These just bolt up in place of the factory ones. Really not much different. No hole drilled
Thanks!
Miles
were any holes drilled to get the aftermarket wing risers installed, or is switching back to OEM pretty plug-and-play?
@drillfillbill Have to check the dates. If I recall, they were 22 or 23. Ill see if I can get the codes off them and post that. Still at Porsche, believe the switch is the culprit! Lifting on the dash is not very noticeable. But it is just in front of the gauge pod. You will notice a slight "bubble". Happens to most Porsche leather dashes.
Thanks! Miles
@ajspeaker Nothing has changed on the car. It is at Porsche right now to repair the parking brake. I think it was a switch issue. Should know tomorrow. Thank you! Miles
@ajspeaker coming from a guy that races gtb1 w pca n has other Porsche street cars
Including a 981 spyder set up w ipd plenum gt3 tb / kline manifolds mated w Cobb tune makes big difference
this car is great set up appeals to most buyers if resale value is something your thinking about down the road easy to convert to stock or modify w perf upgrades ( which is worth every penny ) gets u to about 415-420 hp at the crank / mods over come the stock set up where the hp curve flattens out above 5k
The other gt4 is track use only and you could buy a cayman gtb1 car for less than 90k and it would put down faster lap times
If it were me this would be the car I would bid on
Glwa
Cheers
@Ddesimone17 IMO It's all the same buyers across the major sites... BaT, C&B, and this one. All things equal I wouldn't expect a car get radically more or less on one site vs another. There are other variables, for example... I see sellers stall their auctions by not responding or being defensive :)
@ajspeaker This is the smarter play the other is for a limited one off buyer
Bid in the amount of $65,000
Anything change on the car since the BaT listing? Lots of good information in the comments so I don't have to ask again on here. Surprised a deal wasn't made post auction but on the bright side I get a second chance. Great spec and tasteful upgrades - Good luck!
Couple questions. 1-What are the expiration dates on the harnesses. 2-Can you point out where the dash is lifting, I see a couple of marks on the dash but I don't notice any lifting. 3-What was wrong with the parking brake that needed repair. Thanks.
Bid in the amount of $30,000
@drillfillbill The car is at Porsche this week. Should have it back by the weekend. No issues with the seat belts. Light comes one when you are not buckled. I was using the harnesses in the video.
Thanks!
Miles
Gosh the 981 gt4s are just superb. I am interested in seeing if these will ever be considered more valuable than the 718s over the years.

Bid in the amount of $250
Have the parking brake and seat belt lights been addressed? Can you take a video of the dash while the car is started to show any other dash lights. Thanks
@cheungms Unfortunately I do not have any stock items. I am happy to help source them out for the new owner. The exhaust swaps out quite easily on these.
Thanks!
Miles
That’s what a driving video should be like!
Does it come with OEM items like the exhaust?
