A modern homage to the original 911R of the late 1960s, the 2016 Porsche 911R is a purist’s sports car based on the contemporary GT3 with special lightweight bodywork, a vintage-inspired interior, carbon ceramic brakes, and a 6-speed manual transmission paired with a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six engine. One of 991 examples produced in total, this 911R is finished in White with green racing stripes over a Black and Tarpan Brown leather interior with houndstooth cloth seat centers. It comes equipped with optional painted side skirts, LED headlights in black, the Front Axle Lift System, Sport Chrono Package, an extended-range fuel tank, black-painted 20” center-lock wheels, 2-zone automatic climate control, the Light Design Package, Porsche Communication Management (PCM), BOSE Surround Sound System, illuminated carbon fiber door sills, and extended leather upholstery on the dashboard and door panels. Showing under 1k miles on the odometer, this highly collectible 911R is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New York.

The 911R wears a lightweight carbon fiber hood, front fenders, and rear decklid along with a model-specific front splitter, a speed-activated rear spoiler, and an aluminum engine grille. It shares its double-bubble magnesium roof panel with the contemporary GT3 RS as well as its bumpers and side skirts. This example is finished in White with contrasting green racing stripes and Porsche script side stripes. It features optional painted side skirts, LED headlights in black, and black-painted 20” GT3 center-lock wheels complemented by yellow ceramic brake calipers. Other equipment includes Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS) headlamps, fog lights, LED taillights, auto-dimming SportDesign side mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, an under-body diffuser, and dual center-mounted tailpipes. The seller notes that clear paint protection film is applied over the full front end and side mirrors. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The cabin is appointed with Black and Tarpan Brown leather upholstery complemented by houndstooth cloth seat centers, carbon fiber trim, deviated stitching, and silver seatbelts and door pull straps. It features full carbon fiber bucket seats with 911R-embroidered headrests, a three-spoke Sport steering wheel in leather, optional extended leather upholstery on the dashboard and door panels, a leather-wrapped steering column casing, illuminated carbon fiber door sills, the Light Design Package, a Sport Chrono dashboard stopwatch, 2-zone automatic climate control, Porsche Communication Management (PCM), Online Services, the Front Axle Lift System, and a fire extinguisher mounted below the passenger seat.

Derived from the 991 GT3 RS, the 911R features a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six engine rated at 500 HP and 339 lb.-ft of torque. It drives the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transaxle and a limited-slip differential with Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV). The car comes standard with Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB), Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), Porsche Stability Management (PSM), an automatic brake differential (ABD), and rear-axle steering. Service in 2024 included new spark plugs, an oil change, and a brake fluid flush.

This sale will include two painted keys, a car cover, and a clean title.

20 minutes to go! Magnesium body panels, carbon fiber, naturally aspirated flat-six, manual transmission. This is the perfect culmination of the 991 generation with a legendary badge harking back to the 70s.

This 993 mile example presents in perfect condition today! Good luck everyone!

@ryangfriedman for the price of the vehicle, I would have to agree! Pretty sure swapping in some silver wheels is irrelevant here ;). Beautiful car!

Not sure about the SMFW switch. According to my dealer, there is engine management programming that make it difficult to switch from single to dual mass flywheels. I my opinion, it is a must have option - it transforms the car.

As the auction winds down, our sub 1,000 mile 911R truly stands tall among any collection. The green exterior stripes also help make this particular car that much more rare.

The naturally aspirated 4.0L flat-six engine from the GT3RS coupled to a 6-Speed manual transmission is truly one of the rawest modern 911s. There is a reason why these cars hold the value over a GT3 touring and after you get out from a drive you can really feel the difference.

On the interior, tarpan brown and black full leather dresses the carbon bucket seats along with center inserts in houndstooth. The gauge cluster and sport chrono have heritage green lighting which adds to the analog experience.

This 911R is protected with front end paint protection film with no visual flaws on the paint either. This presents like a brand new car!

We wish all bidders good luck on this auction ending soon, please give us a ring about any questions.

$cost of low weight single mass flywheel around $12k and labor around $3.5k; had it done for my 992 gt3 touring. Comes with extra noise and specialness and definitely desirable but it's a wear item and am sure you can always order it later. There is nothing to prevent you from replacing with smfw lw clutch will likely be <20$k and is a factory item, in a car likely selling for >450k it constitutes peanuts 🥜

@brownan It was an option you had to select. Dual mass standard.

What is a realistic value for this car?

My local porsche dealer in So cal told me that SMFW could not be converted, are they just brushing me off?

  • brownan (registered bidder) 1 week, 5 daysago

I can't recall if these came with the SMFW and you had to opt for the DMFW, or vice versa. Clearly the SMFW cars are the more desirable ones, but my understanding is $12k or so will cover conversion from dual to single.
