A specially appointed version of the Mercedes-Benz SL-Class commemorating the 125th Anniversary of Karl Benz’s invention of the automobile, the Grand Edition features exclusive Designo Crystal Silver paint, prism pattern aluminum trim, titanium-colored 19” AMG alloy wheels, an SLR-design shift knob, commemorative badging, and a unique chrome/silver accent package. This 2012 Mercedes-Benz SL 550 is said to be one of only 600 Grand Editions produced worldwide and marks the final year of the R230 SL-Class generation. It comes equipped with a Red Nappa leather interior, bi-xenon headlights, Distronic cruise control, Parktronic parking sensors, Climate Comfort seats, Airscarf neck warmers, a panoramic roof, and Keyless-Go entry. Showing approximately 11k kilometers or just under 7k miles on the odometer, this highly collectible SL 550 Grand Edition is now being offered for auction out of Canada.
The Grand Edition is distinguished by chrome shoulder line trim, chrome door handles, twin square chrome exhaust tips, matte silver side vent fins, commemorative fender badges, silver brake calipers with Mercedes-Benz logos, and 19” AMG 5-spoke alloy wheels in titanium. The SL550 model comes standard with the AMG Styling Package which adds sharply contoured fascias and side sills. This example is finished in Designo Crystal Silver paint and includes a panoramic glass retractable hardtop, bi-xenon headlights with cornering illumination, Parktronic parking sensors, and power-folding auto-dimming mirrors. The cabin features Red Nappa leather upholstery and Grand Edition-exclusive prism pattern aluminum trim. Other special details include an SLR-design shift knob, silver AIRSCARF vents, an aluminum-framed wind blocker, chrome door sill plates, and Grand Edition logos on the floor mats and ashtray door. The driver is also provided with multi-contour Climate Comfort seats, a multifunction steering wheel with paddle shifters, dual-zone automatic climate control, Distronic cruise control, Keyless-Go entry, a garage door opener, a premium Harman/Kardon sound system, and COMAND APS with navigation.
Rated at 382 HP and 391 lb.-ft of torque, the 5.5-liter M273 V8 engine delivers power to the rear wheels through a 7G-Tronic 7-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes speed-sensitive power steering, cross-drilled disc brakes, Active Body Control (ABC) suspension, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and Anti-Slip Regulation (ASR). The seller indicates an oil service was recently completed along with replacements of both batteries and starter with OEM parts.
