Now available for auction is this 2012 McLaren MP4-12C Coupe finished in Graphite Grey over a Saddle Tan leather interior.  Representing the first-ever road-going vehicle to have been entirely designed and built by McLaren, the 12C features a carbon fiber MonoCell chassis, F1-derived technology, and a twin-turbocharged V8 engine that sends over 600 HP to the rear wheels.  This 2012 example highlights optional carbon fiber details, contrasting brake calipers, custom powder-coated wheels, and a factory ECU update for increased horsepower.  Originally sold from McLaren Philadelphia, this 12C is now being offered for auction by its seller in California with just over 9k miles showing on the odometer.

This McLaren is finished in the understated shade of Graphite Grey, and the paint is said to be in showroom-quality condition with clear protective film applied over the front end, mirrors, and in front of the rear wheels.  Detailed images are provided in the photo gallery along with a clean CARFAX.  Noteworthy optional features include a carbon fiber rear engine compartment, McLaren Orange brake calipers, and the Stealth Pack which includes a black airbrake mechanism and black exhaust finishers.  The 20" lightweight forged wheels have been custom powder coated in McLaren Orange and come dressed in Pirelli P-Zero tires.

Inside, you will find a beautiful Saddle Tan leather interior accented by optional carbon-fiber trim.  Other premium features include power-operated and heated seats, carbon fiber door sills, and the Meridian Surround Sound Package.  Both of the door-mounted climate-control displays were replaced by McLaren under the current ownership in 2019.  The cabin is said to be like-new while retaining the full functionality of all gauges and accessories.

This McLaren carries a mid-mounted twin-turbocharged 3.8 L V8 engine that received an ECU update by McLaren for an output of 625 HP.  The rear wheels are driven by way of a 7-speed dual-clutch “SSG” transmission allowing for a 0-60 time of under 3 seconds and a top speed of over 210 MPH.  The 12C makes use of advanced technology including an F1-derived brake steer system, a ProActive Chassis Control suspension, and rigid MonoCell carbon monocoque chassis.  All maintenance is said to be up to date and the seller reports that this example was brought to McLaren of Newport Beach upon their purchase to undergo a full service that included new mass airflow sensors and a new intake plenum box.

This sale will include a set of 2 keys, owner’s manuals, a car cover, toolkit, and a clean California title.  A true supercar in every sense of the word, this low-mileage MP4-12C is ready to be enjoyed by its next owner.

@Robert.parker911 True and Agreed to a. I'm sure if you could afford a McLaren, you can also afford a new set of tires to keep the vehicle on the road safely.

If you need it and depending on where you live I may be able to help with delivery. I have a Motorhome and an Enclosed Trailer and a need for a road trip. :-)

These are pure exotics. I sold mine several years ago to get back into Porsches. To own this car count on buying the extended warranty that is available for ten years. It is highly recommended and will save you a bundle. Think of the warrant as insurance that you have to renew every year. It makes owning this car and driving it more fun knowing that you're covered. This was McLaren's first car and it has some gremlins that you have to account for. This owner took care of some already with the replacement of the door AC controls that affected all these 12C models. The other has been the rear taillights that get condensation and eventually have to be replaced at a premium. You also have to be very careful that you don't damage the underbody when you go over unexpected objects as it is very costly to replace the covers, I know. The biggest issue with these cars is that there aren't many other shops you can go to other than a limited number of McLaren shops. It's not like Porsche in so many ways. Just a heads up about owning one is more than you realize. A Great car otherwise. Wish McLaren was more like Porcshe in reliability and service.

@Robert.parker911 Thanks Robert, as the seller I'm not supposed to engage like that. The tires have 9k miles and been in the Garage the rest of their life, have no weather cracks, It's a personal choice.

Such fixation on the tires. Who cares spend 2k and buy new ones. Beautiful car

  • m430 (registered bidder) 3 years, 9 monthsago

Wow 10 years and they haven't changed the tires

  • HJSarafian (registered bidder) 3 years, 9 monthsago

Date Stamp on tires are (4311) = 43rd week of 2011. If you zoom in to the pictures of the wheels you can see them.

  • Dsandwick (seller) 3 years, 9 monthsago

@maxvdh I looked on the tires and cant find the date stamps the tires show no sign of weather and are likely 80 to 90% tread.

  • maxvdh (registered bidder) 3 years, 9 monthsago

    Still original tires on it?

Here's the History. The first owner put the Majority of the miles on it. He kept it up on maintenance at McLaren in Palo Alto Ca. I maybe put 1000 miles on it (i have several sports cars and do not drive any of them enough that's why I'm selling it) I took it to McLaren when I bought it for a service and a full inspection. They replaced the door handle temperature control display, a mass air sensor and a couple other things (I have receipts for everything) Some months later I ran over something in a construction zone and damaged the right rear wheel.
I took it to Raging Bull Performance in Costa Mesa Ca. (a highly respected McLaren repair shop I found on the McLaren Chat Site) I asked them to thoroughly inspect the entire car and fix anything that wasn't perfect. The replaced the RR shock, Spindle, wheel and fixed some scuffed paint in lower rocker panel. They aligned front and rear. They did a perfect job on the car and as of now its in perfect condition, it need nothing. It also has had the HP Upgrade from McLaren. All service up to date. This is a Buy and Drive Car.

    Any current *

  • m430 (registered bidder) 3 years, 9 monthsago

Can you discuss all the issues its had, and what has been replaced to date. Are there are current issues or is the car 100% operationally perfect?
