Debuted at the 2009 Los Angeles Motor Show as the lightest Porsche production car on the market, the original Boxster Spyder is a purebred driver’s car featuring minimal amenities, stiffer suspension, carbon fiber bucket seats, and a specially tuned flat-six engine producing 320 HP. This 2011 example is finished in Black over Carrera Red Natural Leather. It was optioned with 19” Turbo wheels, a 7-speed PDK transmission, the Sport Chrono Package, Sound Package Plus, a SportDesign steering wheel, and much more. Cared for by 4 owners and modified with a Tubi exhaust, this Boxster Spyder is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Nebraska with approximately 45k miles showing on the odometer.

Compared to its contemporary Boxster S counterpart, the Spyder distinguishes itself with lightweight aluminum door panels, a larger fixed rear spoiler, and a single-piece aluminum rear decklid featuring dual fairings that conceal the manually operated soft top. Its distinctive design includes minimalist LED front daytime running lights and omits horizontal slats on the side air intake grilles. Finished in Black with a matching soft top, optional features include exterior-colored roll bars and 19” Turbo wheels wrapped in Yokohama Advan tires introduced in 2023. Other equipment comprises dual roll hoops, LED brake lights, and dual center-mounted exhaust pipes flanked by twin diffusers. The seller notes a recent polishing along with the repair of a 4” scratch beneath the passenger’s side air intake. Detailed gallery images and a clean CARFAX report.

The cabin presents premium Carrera Red Natural Leather upholstery spanning the Sport Seats, dashboard, and door panels with matching carpet below. Lightweight RS-style fabric door pulls come standard on the Spyder along with a painted center console and an exposed instrument binnacle. This example is optionally equipped with Porsche-crested headrests, a three-spoke SportDesign steering wheel, the Sport Chrono Package, Sound Package Plus, PCM with navigation, and automatic climate control.

Power comes from a naturally aspirated 3.4-liter flat-six engine producing as much as 320 HP and 273 lb.-ft of torque, an increase of 10 HP over the Boxster S. Equipped with the optional Sport Chrono Package Plus and 7-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission, the Spyder can reach 60 MPH from a standstill in approximately 4 seconds. The seller adds that a Tubi exhaust has been connected to the factory catalytic converters and exhaust manifolds. services performed since the seller's acquisition include a PDK transmission flush by a Porsche dealer, installation of new brake pads and rear brake rotors, a brake fluid flush, replacement of the engine air filter and Castrol synthetic oil filter, installation of a new serpentine belt, and replacement of spark plugs, coils, and the cabin filter.

This sale will include a clean title, two keys, a window sticker, and owner’s manuals.

The seller would like you to know: “Up for auction is a very nice 987.2 Boxster Spyder.  With all the maintenance and TLC done to her, this Spyder is ready for many carefree miles.  I wouldn't be afraid to hop in and drive her across the country.  My hobby is to find nice Porsches that need that little extra to make them great and pass them on to their next caretakers.  Many times, Boxsters and Caymans have lots of owners, but this one is only a 4-owner car.  All original paint, including the bumpers.  She also has the Sports Steering Wheel from the factory so you can paddle-shift the PDK.”

@fawsittmotors - no ppf on the front. A few chips for a car that's been driven that have been filled in. Windshield is perfect.

Late questions, is there any ppf on the front end? If not what is the extent of rocks and road rash? Thanks.

Thanks everyone for the bids. This is a truly sharp looking Spyder and drives as great as she looks. You'll get rock star parking at your Cars & Coffee or Porsche event with her.

I'm taking my 928 S4 to an all-day car show, so will have spotty access to any ques until this evening. Keep on bidding!

Hello, the vehicle is equipped with Sport Seats. This is noted in the third paragraph of the listing.

  • husker_boxster (seller) 5 months, 3 weeksago

    Hello @Havenhearth.
I totally agree with your comments and that the description is deceptive. I sent an email to Pcarmarket on last Tue morning (6/25), asking them to clarify that my car has Sport Seats and also fix a typo (Cared instead of Card). I gave them suggested verbiage for the seats. Late Wed they fixed the typo but left out my suggestion on the seats. I was busy yesterday and didn't follow up. Utimately this is MY ad and MY responsibility to be sure it's correct. I apologize for the confusion and will work with Pcarmarket authors to get it right ASAP. I certainly understand the differences economically between LWBS and Sport Seats and do not want to decieve bidders.

Wrote a comment a moment ago, but it has not appeared. Hm.

I raised an important discrepancy in PCarMarket’s writeup of this car, namely that the listing states “ ...a purebred driver’s car featuring minimal amenities, stiffer suspension, carbon fiber bucket seats…”

In viewing the window sticker, which is a Great thing to have, line 7 states “Sport Seats”. These are the heavier, and more heavily upholstered. Were further confirmation needed, the price assessed for the seats was $0.

Carbon Fiber seats are a Very expensive option made for the purist who wants a car that is stripped to the minimum ( for such folk there’s even another exorbitant indulgence, a lightweight battery that cuts weight by 22 lbs but also costs $1,800! (!) )

I know this because my 2011 Spyder has these seats and at 6’6” it’s a tight fit.

The factory CF seats are somewhat differently shaped. First, they are more deeply bolstered beside the thighs and the torso, but they also carry less padding and ‘feel’ rather more comfortable, at least to me.

In light of this clarification, may I request that @PCarMagazine amend the listing by removing 'carbon fiber’ and adding ’Sport Seats’?

I think it will better serve both the Buyer and the Seller.

Fantastic! Missed that on window sticker.

  • husker_boxster (seller) 5 months, 3 weeksago

@hlai - the turbo wheels are the original wheels. If you look at the window sticker, they're listed as a $2440 option.

  • hlai (registered bidder) 5 months, 3 weeksago

Do you have the original rims?
