The 997.2 generation Porsche 997 GT3 RS was introduced in 2010 featuring a naturally aspirated 3.8-liter flat-six engine along with a close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission, dynamic engine mounts, a titanium rear muffler, aggressive aerodynamic spoilers, carbon fiber bucket seats, and wide 19” center-lock wheels. This 2011 example is one of only 541 sold in the United States and comes finished in Grey Black over a Black leather interior. It was ordered with optional Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB), Sport Chrono Package, Sound Package Plus, carbon fiber door sills, clear taillights, a lightweight battery, and Front Axle Lift System. It has also been upgraded with carbon fiber side mirrors, a carbon fiber GT3 RS 4.0 air intake, a Dimsport flash tune, a single-mass flywheel, a TPC active side muffler bypass, a Porsche Tequipment roll bar, carbon fiber interior trim, and more. Previously fortified with a replacement engine and a rebuilt transmission, this rare and generously equipped GT3 RS is now being offered for auction out of South Carolina with approximately 16k miles showing on the odometer.

Compared to a standard 997.2 GT3, the RS model features a wider rear end, front fender extensions, a larger front spoiler, and a fixed carbon fiber rear wing. This example is finished in Grey Black, a rare nonmetallic color offered exclusively on the GT3 RS. The paint is complemented by red accents on the lower front grille, mirror bases, wing end plates, and 19” center-lock wheels. Other details include yellow ceramic brake calipers, carbon fiber mirror caps, optional clear taillights, bi-xenon headlamps, clear LED side marker lights, a custom hood crest badge, and GT3 RS 4.0-style front dive planes. The seller indicates the full exterior is preserved under clear paint protection film and ceramic coating, and the wheels are dressed in new Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. The car has also reportedly seen some track use and a few minor imperfections are present around the exterior. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The cabin is appointed with Black leather and Alcantara upholstery including carbon fiber bucket seats. A brushed aluminum Porsche Tequipment roll bar has been installed along with carbon fiber trim pieces, aluminum Rennline pedal covers, a short shifter, and a fire extinguisher mounted in an aluminum bracket. Other accessories include seatbelts and door pull loops in Guards Red, a Sport Chrono stopwatch dial in Guards Red, a three-spoke Sport steering wheel in Alcantara, an Alcantara gear knob and handbrake lever, optional carbon fiber door sills with model insignias, automatic climate control, cruise control, Sound Package Plus, a universal audio interface, and a Porsche CDR30 stereo.

Rated at 444 HP and 317 lb.-ft of torque stock, the naturally aspirated 3.8-liter flat-six features titanium connecting rods, VarioCam variable valve timing, dynamic engine mounts, and a titanium sport muffler. The engine was replaced under warranty by Porsche Charleston at 7,922 miles and has been upgraded with a GT3 RS 4.0 carbon fiber air intake, TPC active side muffler bypass, and a Dimsport flash tune with a handheld device. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The gearbox is said to have been rebuilt by Autometrics Motorsports in 2013 and is paired with a single-mass flywheel. An optional lightweight battery came equipped from the factory along with Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB). The seller adds that the cooling lines have been pinned and all service has been performed by Autometrics Motorsports over the past 10 years and corresponding documentation is available.

This sale will include owner’s manuals, a window sticker, a toolkit, a car cover, a battery charger, a handheld flash tuner, and a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “This is a meticulously maintained and highly upgraded example of the legendary 911 GT3RS. With its rich history, exclusive features, and performance upgrades, this car stands out in any collection or on any track.  This car is many people's dream car and they are projected to go up in price.  Less than 600 of these models were delivered to the U.S. Please note, in the video, there is a radar detector mounted – the radar detector is not included with the sale of the car.”

    Hi everyone,

I wanted to take a moment to clarify some information regarding the transmission and engine replacements on the 2011 Porsche 911 GT3RS (997.2) I'm selling.

    Transmission Rebuild:
Initially, I relied on details from the lead mechanic at Autometrics Motorsports, who was trying to recall the specifics from almost 10 years ago. At that time, I did not have the receipt for the transmission rebuild. I'm happy to announce that I recently received the receipt. The rebuild was done for cause, and there were some upgrades made to the transmission. While I am not a mechanic and cannot explain the technical differences between one transmission and another, I have attached the receipts for your review.

    Engine Replacement:
The engine was also replaced for cause. The previous owner heard a loud noise coming from it, and upon inspection by Porsche Charleston (aka Baker Motors), an oil sample was collected and found to contain a high amount of metal. Additionally, the bolts in the cam actuator were found to be loose (backed out). Due to these issues, Baker Motors replaced the engine.

Thank you for your understanding, and feel free to reach out if you have any questions!

    I apologize for the confusion.

    James

@TheKosherstogie I agree, and thank you!

  • TheKosherstogie (registered bidder) 4 months, 1 weekago

If I didn’t just buy mine I’d be lining up here. Hope it goes to a good home. I’d look at the engine / gearbox as a win. Fresh stuff to drive the snot out of. Whoever wins, enjoy her!!!

  • jj911c2 (registered bidder) 4 months, 1 weekago

I read through service receipt on transmission and it does look like rebuild due to failure. The R&P was replaced with the GT3 cup which has 4.0 ratio vs stock RS 3.89 which is 2.8% shorter.

  • Por4mance (seller) 4 months, 1 weekago

@vin_tra Yes, beautiful spec’d car with some tasteful upgrades. Thank you!

  • vin_tra 4 months, 1 weekago

If not having red mirrors is a deal breaker for the buyer, i'll trade ya. Looks like a solid car! Engine replacement is great considering it will have update cam bolts and plenum flappers.

  • Por4mance (seller) 4 months, 1 weekago

@Jreifler I am trying to represent this car as honestly as I can. I will never misrepresent the car or its history. However, I cannot edit previous posts on here, I tried.

For the engine, according to the work order, the engine swap was due to owner complaining of a loud knocking noise. The dealership found metal in the oil and bolts in the cam actuator loose. Engine was replaced.

And you are correct about the trans.

  • Jreifler (registered bidder) 4 months, 1 weekago

I understand that. But you now have documentary evidence of the actual reasons for the motor swap and the trans rebuild. And I've explained that 3.8RS and 4.0RS transmissions are the same. So, the proper thing to do would be to amend the earlier misinformation. I'm not suggesting you should have perfect knowledge of the car's history, but you now have several earlier comments with factual misrepresentations . . .

  • Por4mance (seller) 4 months, 1 weekago

@Jreifler This is not my car! I am representing the owner and until two days ago, I did not have the work order for the transmission rebuild. I spoke with the lead mechanic for Autometrics, and that is what he explained to me.

  • Jreifler (registered bidder) 4 months, 1 weekago

@Por4mance - You're not helping your cause here. 3.8 RS and 4.0RS had the same gear ratios / final drive. Your explanation that Autometrics rebuilt the transmission to upgrade its 4.0 gearing is not only incorrect, but also clearly contradicted by Autometrics' own work order. It was rebuilt due to damage of some sort. And it also clearly indicates a GT3 Cup R+P was installed, which is not the RS 4.0 part. All you have to do is read the repair orders to understand what happened.

Also, the motor was swapped because the cam bolts backed out and presumably grenaded the engine. Not, as you say, because the lifters were making noise. Again - clearly explained in the work orders.

@switchcars Yes, from what I am reading, when they first introduced them they did not have the proper air bags so they were shipping them with the sport seats and once they arrived at the dealerships, the dealership would intstall the carbon buckets.

  • switchcars (registered bidder) 4 months, 1 weekago

Buckets were a standard option on the 3.8 RS so they aren't listed on the sticker.

@jaredrayman Hey, I hope all is well. I uploaded pics of the receipt for the engine swap (see attached).

As for the seats, I contacted the original owner about this and he stated that this car came with those carbon bucket seats, despite what the window sticker states. He said he never changed these seats and they are the original seats.

As for the exhaust, the original (OEM) exhaust is on the car. The TPC bypass has been removed.

As for the air intake, when the owner installed the carbon fiber 4.0 air intake, the decklid had to be cut out a little bit to match the size of the new air inlets. Also, the old air intake is no longer available. From what I understand, the air intake is fairly easy to find, if you wanted to buy one but the bellows are not easy to find.

    Hello,

I am curious if the seats are original to the car. I am looking and on the window sticker, I see nothing mentioning carbon buckets.

Also, can you produce a receipt/service invoice/etc. of why engine was replaced.

And do you have all original parts? Intake, exhaust, etc.

    Thank you

@jj911c2 Hey, the gear box was upgraded to the 4.0 Final drive. From what I understand about the 4.0 final drive, the drive ratio is shorter. Porsche introduced this in the RS 4.0. I am headed into a meeting now, but will upload the info and receipt in an hour or two.

@orangebox let me correct that, the exhaust is all stock.

  • Por4mance (seller) 4 months, 2 weeksago

@orangebox All stock, it should pass the smog exam.

  • Por4mance (seller) 4 months, 2 weeksago

One other important note, the exhaust is all stock. The owner removed the TPC bypass. @orangebox. There should not be any issues passing the smog test.

  • orangebox (registered bidder) 4 months, 2 weeksago

@doobooloo Hey. I uploaded additional pictures of the car on the lift and of the roll bar. I will answer your other questions below:

    1. double sided 3M tape. They are on the PPF, so we chose to keep them on there so we did not damage the PPF trying to remove them.

    2. Yes, I believe you are correct. It should be steel. I cannot find the receipt for that at the moment but I will verify it and respond as as soon as I do.

    3. There are surface rust spots on the roll bar. I used Gyeon's "Metal Polish" and those rust spots were immediately removed.

    4. See attached photos for additional pics of the undercarriage and roll bars.

@Por4mance Thank you for the quick response. A few more Q’s:

    1. Are the canards attached with adhesive tape, or bumper drilled & bolted on from the back?

    2. The listing description mentions the Tequipment roll bar as being brushed aluminum, but it should be steel?

    3. On photo #67, is that rust on the roll bar?

    4. Any way we can get better underbody photos with the car on a lift?

    Thanks again.

  • Beandip83 (registered bidder) 4 months, 2 weeksago

I think a picture works but it depends on the region I think. I have a 996 gt3 right now that serves at track duty and it was an arm and leg to get some sort of proof from the shop.

  • Por4mance (seller) 4 months, 2 weeksago

@Beandip83 I asked Autometrics to find the receipt for this. Autometrics is looking for that receipt now. The coolant lines were pinned by the original owner. I can upload a picture of the pinned lines but I don’t think that is what you are requesting.

  • Por4mance (seller) 4 months, 2 weeksago

@doobooloo hello, all original paint and no known issues with the FAL. I tested it the other day.

  • doobooloo (registered bidder) 4 months, 2 weeksago

  • Por4mance (seller) 4 months, 2 weeksago

@Chi_PT Hey, the Gearbox was to upgrade to the 4.0 final drive by Autometrics Motorsports. As for the engine, from what I understand it had a lifter noise so the dealer just replaced it instead of investigating it.

  • Chi_PT (registered bidder) 4 months, 2 weeksago

Why was the engine replaced and gearbox rebuilt?

  • Por4mance (seller) 4 months, 2 weeksago
