Commemorating 30 years of Saab’s turbocharged cars, the 9-3 Turbo X was produced in 2008 and limited to just 600 units. The manufacturer's flagship vehicle, the Turbo X offered a more powerful turbocharged V6 engine, larger brakes, unique wheels, and Saab’s new XWD all-wheel-drive system. Exclusively available in Jet Black Metallic, each example presented a host of sport-oriented appointments including a revised front grille, titanium grey-finished accents, a thick leather-wrapped steering wheel, carbon fiber interior trim, and more. This rare Swedish sports sedan is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Colorado with approximately 72k miles on the odometer.
The Turbo X was offered exclusively in Jet Black Metallic and presents a slightly lowered ride height and larger front grille opening along with unique 18” alloy wheels in a titanium grey finish. This example rides on Michelin Premier all-season tires. Prior to current ownership, the CARFAX report shows the car was involved in a side-swipe collision with another vehicle in May 2018, and airbags were not deployed. The report also notes minor damage in February 2019. The current owner indicates front-end repair was performed due to a collision with a raccoon in August 2022 and respective repair documents are available. Additionally, the seller indicates some small scratches and minor dents commensurate with the age and mileage of the vehicle. Some cracks are present in the grey plastic trim along the lower part of the front bumper and the left-side headlight has some fading. The rear bumper also has some small scuffs. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a CARFAX report.
The cabin is upholstered in black leather and features power-adjustable heated front seats, a thick leather-wrapped steering wheel, driver’s seat memory, cruise control, dual-zone automatic climate control, a turbo boost gauge, and a Bose sound system. The dashboard, shifter, and door panels are accented with a unique carbon look trim pattern. The seller adds that an upgraded touchscreen head unit with Apple CarPlay and a backup camera has been fitted, and the original head unit is included in the sale. The seller states the XWD service light will occasionally come up on the dash, however, all XWD components have been serviced and recently replaced. Copies of service records from Foreign Affairs is are provided in the gallery.
Power comes from a turbocharged 2.8L V6 which produces up to 280 HP and 295 lb.-ft of torque. Compared to the standard 9-3, the limited-edition Turbo X receives an additional 25 HP from increased boost pressure. The Turbo X also debuted Saab's XWD system, which drives all four wheels by way of a 6-speed automatic transmission and an electronically controlled limited-slip rear differential (eLSD). The suspension comes stiffened and lowered from the factory and larger disc brakes are fitted at the front and rear. The seller has provided the following maintenance history:
This sale will include a clean title, owner’s manuals, and a toolkit. The seller is a licensed Colorado dealer offering the vehicle or sale on behalf of the owner, with whom the car currently resides in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The seller charges a $299 dealer handling fee and provides the buyer with a 60-day temporary Colorado registration.
The seller would like you to know: “The Turbo X was introduced to commemorate 30 years of Saab's use of turbocharging technology in production cars. Saab has a significant legacy in pioneering the use of turbochargers in mainstream passenger vehicles, and the Turbo X pays tribute to this heritage. Saab has a notable history in motorsports, particularly in rallying events during the 1960s and 1970s. The Turbo X draws inspiration from Saab's racing roots, incorporating design elements and performance features that echo the brand's involvement in competitive racing. @amor1064 Correct the vehicle will be picked up from the Minneapolis area. The transaction will run through Cult Cars, a licensed Colorado dealer. The dealer board requires we charge every customer the same fee, regardless of where/how the vehicle is sold. You will also get 60 day temporary registration and discounted shipping (should you choose to use our recommended shipping carrier).
Just to clarify, if the successful bidder the car would be picked up from Minneapolis somewhere, and a separate $299 check/ paperwork process for the CO dealer, outside of the PCar buyers fees? Thank you.
These have actually aged really well.
Welcome to our 9-3 turbo X auction. In an effort to provide full transparency you’ll find copies of recent repair invoices and a carfax included in the photo gallery.
