This 2006 Porsche 987 Cayman S has been transformed into a track car, pairing its 6-speed manual transmission with a 3.6-liter flat-six engine installed by Porsche Motorsports North America. It sports a matte black vinyl wrap with subtle Martini Racing livery, along with a GT3-style front fascia, lightweight Lexan rear windshield, and Crawford carbon fiber rear wing. The stripped interior includes a 10-point chassis-welded Chromoly roll cage, a Recaro Hans driver’s seat, and additional racing safety equipment. This high-performance Cayman S is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Georgia.

Factory specified in Arctic Silver Metallic, this Cayman S received a matte black 3M vinyl wrap with a subtle “ghosted” Martini Racing livery in February 2021. Upgrades include a GT3-style front fascia, lightweight Lexan rear windshield, and adjustable Crawford carbon fiber rear wing. It sits on 18” BBS E88 3-piece wheels fitted with Pirelli racing tires. Upon the seller’s acquisition, this example attended three Road Atlanta events. The seller notes front-end wear from towing and track use, along with a minor bump on the rear driver's side. Detailed images and a clean CARFAX report are available in the gallery.

The cabin has been extensively stripped and equipped with racing safety features, including a 10-point chassis-welded Chromoly roll cage, a Recaro Hans driver’s seat, a passenger racing seat, a Sparco 6-point harness, and a fire suppression system. The driver benefits from a quick-release OMP steering wheel, carbon fiber control panel, cool-suit system, and MoTeC CDL3 Club digital dash display with data logging capabilities. All gauges, electronics, and accessories are confirmed to be in proper working order.

This Cayman S was reportedly fitted with a 3.6-liter flat-six engine in 2014 by Porsche Motorsports North America, including the factory X51 Power Kit, GT3 throttle body, performance ECU tune, and packable exhaust. The rear wheels are driven through the original 6-speed manual transmission, enhanced with a Cartonic Motorsports sequential shifter mechanism, performance shift linkage, Aasco Motorsport lightweight flywheel, new Sachs race clutch, and Auto-Blip system. The suspension features MCS 2-way adjustable coilovers, 900/750 spring sets, GT3 lower control arms, GT3 inner joints, an RSR subframe, and reinforcement tie-ins for added rigidity. Additional upgrades include transmission and steering fluid oil coolers, a power steering underdrive pulley, and a Bosch Motorsports M4 ABS system. The seller notes that routine service has been performed by ACI Motorsports.

This sale will include a clean title, one set of wheels with tires, an additional set of wheels, and a car cover.

The seller would like you to know: “For any enthusiast looking to get out on the track, this highly competitive Cayman S is ready to be enjoyed for HPDE sessions, PCA events, NASA, IRL, and more.”

I have the exact car with a 3.8L

    The value here is unbelievable
You can’t get a motor for twice this…
Hope someone sees the value and releases the reserve!

    @juanvorlp *Motec

  • juanvorlp (seller) 4 days, 3 hoursago

@993David - Yes, if you look in the pictures, right next to the Motel there is a circle gauge. That tells you the gear you are in. It goes 1, N, R as you push the shifter forward.

  • 993David (registered bidder) 4 days, 3 hoursago

@juanvorlp Thanks. Where is neutral and reverse, all the way forward and one back from all the way forward and is there an indicator to show what gear you are in?

  • juanvorlp (seller) 4 days, 3 hoursago

@993David - with the sequential shifter you need to press the clutch and pull backward to shift up, and push forward to shift down. It makes it very easy to shift compared to a regular shifter. The auto blip is off the clutch and can adjust to what it will blip for.

The spare wheels are the exact same (BBS). The removed parts are not available unfortunately.

  • 993David (registered bidder) 4 days, 3 hoursago

Hi, I late to the party but what is the sequential shifter mechanism and how does it shift? Is the pattern just forward and back and you don't have to use the clutch pedal for all of the shifts or is it the regular shift pattern? Is the auto blip part of the sequential or does it key off of the clutch? Are the other wheels also BBS? Are the removed parts available, specifically the lights and markers? I agree with @siliev1991 that having pictures of the previous and current condition could cause confusion. Thanks in advance.

  • d4nimal 4 days, 3 hoursago

Absolute crime that this isn't getting more interest. 3.6L motor, track prep but not so pristine that you're afraid to drive it. Hope someone swoops in!

  • juanvorlp (seller) 4 days, 5 hoursago

@siliev1991 thank you for your comment and totally understand your concern. The car does show signs of track usage as expected as it's been raced and taken on track weekends. The front bumper will be the one showing the most wear, and it's also the one that can be quickly replaced (and it's designed to). All the mechanical runs perfectly and have been properly maintained. It is a very good looking car ready to be taken to track right away.

  • siliev1991 (registered bidder) 4 days, 6 hoursago

Car looks great on the main picture, but not so much on the additional photos. Really turned me off looking at what I assume are the current photos with tape between the bumper and headlight covers, no side marker lights, etc. Yet the main photo shows the car with headlights, side marker lights, and very clean looking front end. Slightly deceiving to include previous photos of the car in better condition that it is now, let alone for the main photo.

  • juanvorlp (seller) 5 days, 5 hoursago

@gregmhtd thank you! The newer engine is from 2014, I don't have the exact hours on it though. No service due as it was serviced earlier this summer and only has 1 track weekend on it. The AC unit was removed. Plenty of thread left in the pads and tires (see pics) as they only have 3 track weekends (2 of which were lightly used as I alternate vehicles). The sale comes with two additional sets of wheels (one of the sets has 4 brand new tires in it).

    Happy bidding!!

  • gregmhtd (registered bidder) 5 days, 6 hoursago

fun spec! how many hours on the car, and how many on the newer engine? Any service needed or due? Is ths AC still in place or was it removed? What is the tire tread and break pad wear, and are there any other parts that come with the sale?

  • juanvorlp (seller) 5 days, 10 hoursago

@BLH944 thank you! To make it street legal it would depend on the state, but you may need at a minimum add a horn, windshield wipers, 3 point seatbelt, and headlights. The car currently is a full-blown racecar.

  • BLH944 (registered bidder) 5 days, 17 hoursago

Congrats on a really nicely spec'd car seller! How far from street legal? GLWTA

  • juanvorlp (seller) 1 week, 2 daysago

@vichang4 - here’s where the car was raced:
NASA ST3 - Car was consistent 2nd or 3rd and never broke down.
ST4 would be perfect for that car
But ST4 doesn’t allow aftermarket ABS. You can revert to Porsche ABS and be super competitive in that class.

    NASA also has GTS series….
It will fit in GTS2 or GTS3

  • juanvorlp (seller) 1 week, 3 daysago

@vichang4 getting that response for you. I only took it on HPDE events in Road Atlanta with PCA, Chin Track and Just Track It. The previous owner raced it out of Illinois. Waiting for his response on the specific classes and will get back to you.

Nice build. What classes has this car run in and where?

  • juanvorlp (seller) 1 week, 3 daysago

Hi everyone, Juan here. Just wanted to let you know I’ll be around for any questions. The car is currently close to the Atlanta airport in case anyone wanted to come see it in person. Happy bidding!!
