Finished in Atlas Grey Metallic over a Stone Grey interior, this launch-year Porsche 987 Boxster S is equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission paired with a 3.2-liter flat-six engine. The car was sold new in Connecticut featuring optional equipment including heated front seats, automatic climate control, a Bose sound system, and Bi-Xenon Headlamp Package. Previously sold on PCARMARKET, this Boxster S is being offered for auction once again as the original sale could not be completed on the buyer's end.
This 987 is finished in Atlas Grey Metallic and is distinguishable as a Boxster S from the base model by its red-painted brake calipers, silver side air intakes, and dual centrally mounted exhaust tips. Other equipment includes a power retractable convertible top, a speed-activated rear spoiler, optional bi-xenon headlights, and factory 17” Boxster S wheels with colored Porsche crest center caps. Noted imperfections include worn front-end paint protection film and a crack on the windshield.
The Stone Grey interior is appointed with optional heated seats and automatic climate control as well as a Bose sound system and Windstop. Some wear is noted on the leather-wrapped three-spoke steering wheel.
Rated at 280 HP, the naturally aspirated 3.2-liter flat-six engine drives the rear wheels by way of a 6-speed manual transmission. Acceleration from 0-60 MPH takes place in approximately 5 seconds while stopping power comes from fixed 4-piston brakes paired with ventilated and cross-drilled rotors at each corner. The CARFAX report shows extensive maintenance carried out by G.T. Precision Imports including a considerable service in May 2022 with a new catalytic converter, front brake pads, battery, and steering gear boots.
This sale will include a clean title and an unopened car cover.

Sold for $23,000
$23,000 offer from Brooklyn, NY (11211)
Can you please provide info on the IMS. We can determine which bearing it is if you provide the engine number. There is no way to determine the value of this car without that information.
Offer in the amount of $22,000
What is the build month of the car? It’s the number on the top right of the sticker on the bottom side of the driver’s door (ex: “03/05” being March of 2005)
Can you post or DM me the engine number, please?
Offer in the amount of $19,000
@PCARMARKET sorry about that . It was an obvious mistake . Good job on the quick fix . Def went into panic mode for a bit there. Again my apologies for the confusion.

In noticing the recent comments, we contacted the seller to answer promptly. We have learned that the seller is in the hospital due to a medical emergency and will not be able to answer any questions at this moment.
Porschelover30 - absolutely. Already mostly agree with your IMS take. Just a general comment about extra eyeballs and Q&A potential on these sites. Most sellers/dealers spin things ultra-positive - my guys check everything and it's the best I've ever seen for this year. So a little balance goes a long way.
@Scottsala Yes it is true that other watchers can help ellicit problem but at the end of the day these are old cars and are not going to be perfect and anyone not expecting deferred maintenance on these cars is not being realistic. When it comes to the IMS again you have absolute believers that feel that a non corrected car is a time bomb. Of course that is ridiculous. The failure rate at most was 8% and with many of the cars potentially fixed it is possibly a little lower. I have never had an IMS changed and feel totally comfortable that the statistics are on my side. Please do not let such commenters dissuade anyone from bidding on a very reasonable car and please take them with a grain of salt. Most of us are buying these cars to drive and a couple of blemishes and issues make them only more endearing.
@Quackbury this is why I like these bid sites. You get knowledgeable minds putting eyes on things. Like taking your wrencher friend to a test drive. I'm appalled when I shop on regular old car sites where dealers cut and paste descriptions with 5 photos.
Bid in the amount of $14,000
@gtimports: Have you replaced the clear bra and the windshield as you indicated you would 4 days ago? Those items are really holding down your price.
@Scottsala: The top needs to be tightened on both sides. A common problem and an easy fix, but this is about as bad as I've seen. And I am more concerned with the discoloration over the support bars. This car was likely stored with the top down - and wet - for extended periods.
It's worth noting that this car may have either the early style or later style IMS bearing. Knowing the engine number would help determine that, but even that is not a fool proof test; you need to open her up to find out. Given the condition of the top and the clear bra, I suspect the IMS was never upgraded, the clutch is original and the AOS was never replaced. A successful bidder should be prepared for +/- $5,000 in repairs.
@audios22 Sorry, need more espresso "My '04 986".
@Scottsala My '04 984 is the same. Porsche made the top with a relief panel so that it folds correctly when the top is put down. It is a factory design. (from my 40-year Porsche workshop, Autobahn, in Ohio)

Looks like a solid old 987……..no downside here (ok…..very little) for someone looking to jump in with their 1st Pcar?
Bid in the amount of $2,200
The vehicle has been garaged since new
@gtimports this car has been garaged for it’s entire life
RC Yes I will be getting a detail and getting the clear protective hood bra removed & getting a new windshield This car still feels like a new car tight as a drum perfect performance!!!
Photos 25 and 26 show a mess of cracking or hazing in the finish. I assume that is a very old PPF subjected to a lot of weather expiosure.
So two questions please:
1. Has the car not been garaged and spent most of it's life parked out in the weather? and
2. Are you willing to have the old PPF removed and then post new photos of the front hood?
I also share CAPPY1988's posted concern re. the reported broken windshield: No photos? Are you having it repaired?
Thanks for considering these questions.
Is there a picture of the crack on the windshield? Did you look into repairing it ? Thanks for your time .
