The pinnacle of the R230 SL-Class model range, the Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG is revered for its monstrous V12 engine, sophisticated design, and high-end amenities. Powered by a twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter V12 paired with a 5-speed automatic transmission, this 2005 example is finished in Cubanite Silver over Black leather upholstery. It features the AMG Styling Package, a Vario-Roof retractable hardtop, bi-xenon headlamps, multi-contour heated and ventilated front seats, a COMAND infotainment system with navigation, a Bose sound system, and more. Showing approximately 35k miles on the odometer, this SL65 AMG is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California.
This example is finished in Cubanite Silver and features AMG styling cues to the front spoiler and side skirts, along with a power-operated Vario-Roof retractable hardtop, fender air vents, bi-xenon headlamps, and fog lights. It is equipped with tinted windows and rides on refinished 19” AMG double-spoke wheels wrapped in Continental ExtremeContact Sport tires that were mounted in September 2022. The seller notes a ding on the hardtop, detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The interior is appointed with multi-contour heated and ventilated front seats upholstered in Black leather, accented by wood trim on the door panels and center console. It has a leather-wrapped multi-function steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, COMAND infotainment paired with navigation, and a Bose sound system. The vacuum pump was reportedly replaced in July 2022.
Power comes from a twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter M275 V12 engine, which delivers a factory-rated 604 HP and 738 lb.-ft of torque to rear wheels through a 5-speed automatic transmission. It features an advanced Active Body Control (ABC) suspension system that automatically adjusts to minimize body roll, electronic stability control, Automatic Slip Control (ASR), and an AMG High-Performance Braking System with cross-drilled rotors. In July 2022, the battery was replaced.
This sale will include a clean title.

I was an unprepared bidder. Probably wouldn't have met reserve anyway but nice SL65. I've been detailing cars in SoCal for 40 years and have loved these since they built the first one.
Bid in the amount of $29,000
Well I've owned only 1 SL(08 SL55 AMG) and it's been very reliable over the past 5 years. HOWEVER, plan on spending $1-$2k/yr on proactive maintenance of the various systems, including the ABC system, as another individual mentions below. Otherwise you're playing Russian Roulette.

The most powerful Mercedes SL of all time, perhaps.
I had one but it was a maintenance nightmare so was sold quickly.
Problems are always the hydraulic suspension, the braking system and the top operation.
One always assumes there will be no problems, but of the seven SL's I own or have owned, the only reliable one is my 1979 Euro 350 SL. Because: that s a simple car.. No electronics, roll up windows, no computer to show "Check Engine ' light, four speed manual trans, Etc.
But I love the power of the AMG SL's, having owned four, but now none.
So as a buyer in hopes this car will have had the normal defects fixed, I am again a serious bidder.
Count me in!!

Hi, we only have member storage. If you are the winner you could probably find a storage facility close by and you could have the car picked up and taken there.
Thanks 🙏
Hi! Interested but have a question: can dealer store vehicle for a time; say three months if needed before shipping to NY? Thanks 🙏

Hi, hard to see, please look at photo 5 and 12. Please look toward the rear of the hard top, slight indentation maybe the size of a pinky nail. We will have PDR correct for the winner. Thanks!
I may have missed the photo of the ding on the hardtop. Can you please point it out for me?
