Up for auction is this 2005 Ford Thunderbird 50th Anniversary Edition finished in Platinum Silver Metallic over Black Ink leather upholstery. The 11th-generation Thunderbird was reintroduced in 2002 as a two-seater convertible with a removable hardtop and retro styling harking back to the original Ford Thunderbird of 1955. Celebrating the model's 50th anniversary, this special edition was manufactured in June of 2005 and is reportedly one of only 1,295 examples finished in Platinum Silver Metallic. Kept in a climate control garage throughout the current ownership and only driven during summer months, this beautifully preserved final-year Thunderbird is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New York showing approximately 13k miles on the odometer.
This Thunderbird is finished in Platinum Silver Metallic (JP) with a power-retractable black convertible top, 50th Anniversary fender trim, a chrome windshield surround, integrated fog lights, a hood scoop, and dual chrome exhaust finishers. The machine-finished 17” wheels come mounted with Michelin tires. A scratch is depicted on the passenger side door as well as some bubbling on the upper chrome windscreen frame, detailed images are provided in the gallery along with paint meter readings and a clean CARFAX report.
The interior is upholstered in Black Ink leather with silver accents on the dashboard, door panels, and center console. Driver’s amenities include power-adjustable and heated seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, cruise control, and an Audiophile AM/FM stereo with an in-dash six-disc CD changer. Some light wear is depicted on the driver's seat bolster.
The 11th-generation Thunderbird is powered by a 3.9L V8 that generates up to 280 HP and 286 lb.-ft of torque, driving the rear wheels through a 5-speed SelectShift automatic transmission. Driven just over 600 miles a year on average, the CARFAX report shows annual safety and emissions inspections passed throughout the lifetime of the vehicle.
