This 2004 Porsche 996 Turbo Cabriolet comes finished in Polar Silver Metallic over a Metropol Blue full leather interior. This example features a 6-speed manual transmission paired with its 3.6-liter Mezger engine, Custom Tailoring, the Aluminum & Chrome Package, a painted rear center console, a factory painted hardtop, and much more. Benefiting from an engine-out service including welded coolant pipes, this 996 has also been upgraded with an APR tune & aftermarket exhaust. It is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California with approximately 78k miles on the odometer.
This 996 comes finished in Polar Silver Metallic with a Metropol Blue convertible soft top and a matching painted hardtop. The 911’s Turbo-specific bodywork includes wide fenders with rear side air intakes, a unique bumper with large front grilles, and a rear spoiler with a speed-activated wing. The 18” 911 Turbo wheels feature optional colored Porsche-crested wheel caps and come dressed in General G-Max tires from 2020. Some minor paint imperfections are noted, and additional images are provided in the gallery. The CARFAX report shows damage occurred in January 2006 and a True360 vehicle inspection was carried out in April 2016 showing minor damage to the right side.
The cabin presents Metropol Blue full leather upholstery with matching floor mats. Options include heated front seats, Porsche-crested headrests, a thicker steering wheel, a painted rear center console, and an aluminum/leather shifter and brake handle. The Aluminum & Chrome Package decorates the door sills and instrument dials, while Custom Tailoring indicates the car was appointed with special details outside the standard range of options.
The twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter flat-six Mezger engine produces 415 HP and 415 lb.-ft of torque stock, driving all four wheels by way of a 6-speed manual transmission. The seller adds that an engine-out service has been carried out including welded coolant pipes, and an APR tune & aftermarket exhaust system have been installed. A host of documentation is available for viewing in the gallery and will accompany the sale. Additionally, the CARFAX report shows a total of 29 service history entries dating back to 2004.
This sale will include a clean title, a matching painted hardtop, and service documents.
The seller would like you to know: “I acquired this amazing Turbo from a long-time PCA member. Unfortunately for me, my daughter is of driving age now and we can't keep the extra car. All pics and docs tell the story, there's a lot of good money in this car and I hope the next owner appreciates it. Happy driving!”

Correct, there is no IMS bearing in the turbos
Bid in the amount of $15,000
The Mezger engine in the 996 Turbo does not have an IMS bearing.
Quick question. Is IMS bearing an issue on the 2004 turbo? If yes (and I don’t know), Seller. Any info as to whether this has been addressed?
I’m available to answer everyone’s questions as best I can for these final hours of the auction…
I hesitate to give you my opinion on how much it would cost to address because I’ve never looked into it and wouldn’t want to mislead in anyway!
That scratch is pretty much surface paint.
@alpert911 can you provide an explanation of the scratching in the RHS wheel arch in pic #59. How deep is it? Paint or through to metal? What - in your opinion- would it take to repair? Thanks.

The car has been driven and loved a great deal since then!
@collectorcars No info on the accident back in 2006, that was long before I came into possession. Must’ve been something minor and cosmetic; someone even went through the trouble to get a true frame report just to satisfy the need to know that the frame is 100% in line.

@seller any info on accident
Bid in the amount of $9,962
@SilverRose I believe that refers to the porsche crests, etc.
Love having the hardtop and the rolling jig. Very nice.
@alpert911 - what is the custom tailoring?
@Autotrend if you’re referring to the side along the left arm, it’s a leather stain that was there when I purchased and can be repaired/painted for a minimal cost. I chose not to address it.
what happened to the drivers seat bolster? it is 2 completely different colors
Pictures of the hardtop sitting on the jig in storage have been added, scroll to the bottom to view…
@Jimlerbs Thank you. My name is Jeremy and I’ll make myself available as best I can throughout the listing to answer any questions. One thing I’d like to mention from the get-go is that the convertible hardtop also comes with the rolling transport jig that it sits on. Very convenient for storing in a garage…
Beautiful car and the 6-speed makes it special.
Good luck with your auction.
