This 2002 Porsche 986 Boxster S comes finished in Lapis Blue Metallic over a Savannah Beige interior and features a 6-speed manual transmission paired with its 3.2-liter flat-six engine. It was acquired by the seller from the original owner’s family and has since received a new convertible top, window regulators, drive belt, crankshaft position sensor, and more. Showing approximately 65k miles on the odometer, this Boxster S is now being offered for auction out of Florida.
The exterior is finished in Lapis Blue Metallic with a newly replaced Metropol Blue convertible top. Compared to a standard Boxster, the “S” version is distinguished by red-painted brake calipers, grey front air intakes, silver rear lettering, and dual exhaust tips. This 986 rides on factory 17” Boxster S wheels dressed in Continental tires from 2016. The front bumper is said to have been previously refinished and currently shows some imperfections and scratches on the underside. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The Savannah Beige partial leather interior has been refreshed with new OEM floor mats and cup holders, window regulators, and plastic gears for the convertible top mechanism. All gauges and accessories are said to remain functional, although the screen for the original radio needs to be repaired.
A mid-mounted 3.2-liter flat-six engine delivers up to 250 HP and 225 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels by way of a 6-speed manual transmission. Recent service includes the replacement of the crankshaft position sensor, drive belt, and axle boot. The original clutch and IMS bearing are equipped, and additional maintenance history is said to be available dating back to 2013.
This sale will include a clean title.

Does this car have PSM? It was an option in 2002, but every portion since 2003 is coupled with the standard.

I'm not sure what "equipped" means. Was the IMS replaced?

This is a stunning car! Are you able to post cold start video, driving video, and top operation video?
@WRENCH.56 The 2 cup holders that pop out of the dash when pushed in would not stay flush so I replaced both. I never used them but wanted a perfect fit and look. Thanks
And one more small thing: The description mentions cup holders. I didn't know that a 2002 Boxster S had those. Is this a misprint or are they really there?
@WRENCH.56 Just looked over again some the services performed by Dixie Auto Service. They are not primarily a tire service shop, they also performed oil and filter changes, coolant fluids, window regulators alignment, water pump, headlight bulb replacement, etc. and performed system diagnosis. Thanks
@WRENCH.56 to my knowledge no, but the service center where I had the car serviced did a point to point inspection and addressed those items described in the ad. From 2013 - present in addition to tires other regular maintenance was performed.
@WRENCH.56 you’re right! Sixth week!! Thanks
It would appear from the Carfax records that that all service since 12-30-2013 has been related to tires or at least performed by shops primarily involved with tires.
Is that the case?
Has the car had the full blown 60,000 mile service performed? I did that on my 996 when I acquired it and it involves a lot of work, addressing just about all systems in the car.
Very nice color combo!
Small thing and please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that the tire date code of 0616 indicates the sixth week of 2016, not the sixth month.
@BobG Good morning, yes the radio works, all stations including CD player. The display panel needs to be repaired. Regards
Hi -
Could you please expand on the radio screen issue? Does the radio itself still function?
Thanks

@Richard356 Good morning Richard, thank you for your interest...
I have service records from the 2nd owner, however the original owner purchased the vehicle from The Collections in Coral Gables and the car has been serviced at the dealer up until he sold it to his brother. The Carfax reports shows the service history as well as all the services performed at The Collection. The Collection can probably print all the invoices minus personal information for the next owner.
The tires are date stamped 0616 (June 2016). The Owners Manuel are complete. Two keys. I am selling because I am going to help my daughter restore her VW Bus and need the space in the garage.
Please let me know if you require additional information.
Best,
I have a couple of concerns, Can you produce the service records for the last 28k miles (CF shows last service 2/2/14 eight years ago). There are some very important services that must be completed during that time. Also the tires show they were installed 6 years ago, correct. Are the Owners Manuals in the trunk complete? And how many keys? Finally, I see that you purchased the Boxster in February of this year, why are you selling it so soon?

@mavzy14 Good morning, correct, appears to be an oversight. Original owner, who is a friend told me that approx. 6 month after purchase someone backing up bumped the front bumper requiring minor repair and respray. Frame and brackets are perfect. Thanks for pointing that out, will ask PCar to make correction. Regards
It says clean carfax in the inspection, but based on what I see the carfax has an accident on it.
Great example. I truly love my '02 986 S. These are the best valued Porsche on the market and should continue to appreciate.. Bid with confidence, car will not disappoint. Good luck!!
