As a limited-production model with only 1,450 units built for the U.S. market, this 2002 Mercedes-Benz SL500 Silver Arrow marks the final special edition of the R129 series. Finished in exclusive Silver Arrow Metallic over a two-tone black and silver Nappa leather interior, it is powered by a 5.0-liter V8 paired with a 5-speed automatic transmission. Showing under 62k miles on the odometer, this Silver Arrow is now being offered for auction by the selling dealer out of Florida.
This limited-production example is finished in Silver Arrow Metallic (777U) with a black convertible soft top and a removable body-color hardtop. It features bi-xenon headlights, an exclusive AMG styling package with a revised front spoiler and side skirts, and “Silver Arrow” badging on the front fenders. It rides on staggered-width 18” Albireo two-piece alloy wheels produced by BBS, which are wrapped in Continental ExtremeContact tires bearing 2019 date codes in the front and 2016 in the rear. The seller believes the hood and front bumper to have been refinished and reports minor imperfections visible on the hood. The interior offers model-exclusive two-tone black and silver Nappa leather upholstery, accented by special birds-eye maple wood trim. The door concealing the ashtray ahead of the gear selector showcases a Silver Arrow insignia with a Mercedes W125 race car silhouette. Amenities include automatic climate control, cruise control, a deployable roll bar, and a Bose sound system with a cassette stereo and a remote 6-disc CD changer. All gauges and electronics are reported to be in proper working order, with no warning lights illuminated.
Power comes from a 5.0-liter M113 all-aluminum V8 engine, which delivers a factory-rated 302 HP and 339 lb.-ft of torque to rear wheels through a 5-speed automatic transmission. Braking is facilitated by 4-wheel disc brakes with ABS and Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), while the suspension features an independent double-wishbone front setup and a multi-link independent rear design, enhanced by an Adaptive Damping System (ADS) for improved ride quality. The seller notes that the hydraulic top cylinders and hoses were recently replaced.
