Launched in 2000 as a more powerful version of the first-generation Porsche 986 Boxster, the Boxster S features a 3.2-liter flat-six engine rated at 250 HP. This 2001 example is finished in Orient Red Metallic over a black interior and comes equipped with the optional Sport Package, 18” light alloy Turbo-look wheels, xenon headlights, Porsche Stability Management (PSM), and a 6-speed manual transmission. Originally sold in Michigan, it spent time in Pennsylvania and Colorado before it was purchased by the seller, its third owner, in 2024. Equipped with new tires, an upgraded IMS bearing, and an updated Porsche Classic (PCCM) head unit, the Boxster S is now being offered for auction out of California with approximately 25k miles showing on the odometer.
This 986 is finished in Orient Red Metallic with a black convertible soft top. It features optional xenon headlights, headlamp washers, integrated fog lights, heated power mirrors, side air intakes, dual roll hoops, and a speed-activated rear spoiler. It can be distinguished as an “S” model from a standard Boxster by its red-painted brake calipers, dual center-mounted tailpipes, and silver rear model designation. The car rides on optional 18” light alloy Turbo-look wheels with colored Porsche crest center caps and new Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. The seller indicates some minor stone chips have been touched up on the front end, although the car remains in excellent cosmetic condition. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The black interior includes partial leather seats, air conditioning, cruise control, a remote alarm system, and an updated Porsche Classic (PCCM) head unit with navigation and Apple CarPlay. All gauges and accessories are confirmed to be in proper working order.
The naturally aspirated 3.2-liter flat-six engine delivers up to 250 HP to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission. The car is equipped with Porsche Stability Management (PSM), force-sensitive power steering, four-wheel independent suspension, front and rear anti-roll bars, and four-wheel disc brakes with vented cross-drilled discs at each corner. The seller indicates the IMS bearing was upgraded under previous ownership and the car has been maintained with routine oil changes.
This sale will include a window sticker, a tire inflator, a car cover, and a clean title (lien).
The seller would like you to know: “I have been a car enthusiast for over 50 years, when I buy a car, I always look for the best that I can find. This car is one of a kind. I am only selling it because I bought a new sports car, and I have no storage for two. Whoever gets this car will not be disappointed.”

@leigh thank you for your nice comment. I really doubt anyone could find a cleaner one with these miles. The interior shows no wear at all. It’s a time capsule, that’s why I bought it originally for my wife .
I have a low mileage 2002 Boxster S I bought new. It is my favorite of many sports cars over the years. This is the lightest of the Boxsters, so predictable, tossable and easy to drive. It drives better than a 993 or 996 from my experience. This appears to be a lovely example. GLWTA.

@Oneconnoisseur So far unable to get the car on a lift but I did add some photos of underside what I could get. There isn’t even any surface rust. A friend has a lift I’ll be able to use this afternoon. I will add more pictures then .

@Oneconnoisseur I can probably get underside photos uploaded today or tomorrow. This car was driven so few miles and never in bad weather . A weekend warrior, less than 1k miles per year. And always garaged.
@XHILLR8 I have uploaded the receipt from previous owner on IMS bearing being upgraded to dual row at 18k miles in 2015. It’s a bit hard to read but if you enlarge it you can see it was done down at the bottom.

Any photos of the underside and suspension links ? Being a Pennsylvania and Colorado car, curious tonsee if there is any corrosion. Have you or did PO had a boroscope?
Bid in the amount of $5,000
@XHILLR8 I will be posting that info tomorrow, along with receipt for brand new Michelin pilot sport 4s tires.
Interested. Would like to see documentation around IMS replacement. Thanks in advance.
@SVTJayC The stereo is not after market . Is is pccm unit from Porsche that is made for the car , includes apple car play and navigation. I have receipts for it , plus all original radio and cup holder that came out.
@Drdaddio There should be a sticker either in the door jam, or under the hood or trunk.
@estiles001 My wife felt the car was too small for her and wasn’t happy with it , so we are purchasing a newer sports car , probably 911.
@SVTJayC Bearing was done by previous owner but I believe I do have a receipt for it, not sure about the number, I will check
Is there an IMSR number for the replacement bearing? Or any documentation? Same for the aftermarket stereo. Thanks!
wow, looks like a beautifully kept example. i'm curious as to what's replacing it after only 5 months of ownership!
