We are pleased to present this collector-grade 2001 Plymouth Prowler Mulholland edition. As a follow-up to the groundbreaking Dodge Viper, the Chrysler group gave their designers and engineers free rein to create a sports car inspired by classic 1930s-era hot rods. The result was the Prowler which bore the revived Plymouth namesake, Indy racer-style open front wheels, and a lightweight aluminum construction. This 2001 example is one of only 1281 Mulholland Editions which are distinguished by special Midnight Blue paint, a blue soft top, chrome wheels, and a hand painted pinstripe. Originally sold in Ohio, this Prowler made its way to the West Coast in 2004 and is now being offered for auction by its seller in California while showing just over 11k miles on the odometer.
This Mulholland Edition is finished in special Prowler Midnight Blue paint. The exterior is said to be like-new having always been garage kept, detailed images are provided in the photo gallery along with a clean CARFAX. This special edition also features a blue convertible top, a factory hand painted pinstripe, and 17”/20” chrome wheels that are currently dressed in healthy GoodYear Eagle tires.
Inside, you will find a black interior with leather-trimmed bucket seats and modern amenities including power windows and door locks, air conditioning, keyless entry, and an AM/FM stereo. Some unique details include embroidered Prowler seat logos, a Midnight Blue painted central instrument panel, and a separate tachometer situated directly in front of the driver. All gauges and accessories are reported to be fully functional, and the cabin is said to be in great original condition with the only flaw depicted as some bubbling on the passenger inner door trim.
This Prowler is equipped with a 3.5 L V6 aluminum-block engine that sends over 250 HP to the rear wheels through a 4-speed Autostick automatic transaxle which also offers a manual shifting mode. The drivetrain arrangement and lightweight aluminum construction helps the Prowler to achieve a desirable 50/50 weight distribution. Routine maintenance is said to be up to date and the seller reports that the battery was replaced recently along with oil pressure gauge sending unit. This example is described as being in excellent running and driving condition with just over 11k miles traveled from new.
This sale will include a clean title. A very interesting and unique piece of American automotive history, this special Mulholland Edition Prowler is a true collector’s item.
