Finished in Arctic Silver Metallic over a Graphite Grey interior, this 2000 Porsche Boxster S was the top-range version of the 986 model featuring a 250 HP flat-six engine paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. It rides on optional 17” Sport Classic wheels and showcases painted interior trim pieces. The car received an upgraded 997 shifter assembly under current ownership along with routine service and repair items. Showing just over 58k miles on the odometer, this first-generation Boxster S is now being offered for auction out of Tennessee.
This 986 is finished in Arctic Silver Metallic with matching roll bars, a grey convertible top, and optional 17” Sport Classic wheels dressed in Kumho Solus tires from 2020. Compared to a standard Boxster, the “S” model receives red-painted brake calipers and dual exhaust outlets. Cosmetic imperfections include cracks in the front bumper and some scratches throughout the exterior. Additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The Graphite Grey interior features power-operated seats, a three-spoke steering wheel, "Boxster S" logo door sills, and optional painted trim pieces for the door handles and shifter surround. Driver amenities include automatic climate control, cruise control, a cabin wind deflector, a central locking system, a CD storage compartment, and a HiFi sound system paired with an original Porsche CDR-220 radio. An upgraded 997 shifter assembly has been installed and the passenger window regulator was recently replaced. The sun visor vanity mirror covers are missing, and wear is present on the center console, shifter, steering wheel, and door panels. The seller states that the seats have been recovered in leather.
A naturally aspirated 3.2-liter flat-six engine delivers up to 250 HP and 225 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels by way of a 6-speed manual transmission. Routine oil changes have been observed and the seller states that both rear axles have been replaced in addition to the right rear wheel bearing. The seller adds that the suspension sounds creaky and likely requires replacement bushings.
This sale will include owner’s manuals and a clean title.

Just added a cold start video and they are uploading a driving video. We’ve had pretty nasty weather and it’s raining again now.
@KRISPYPORSCHE if it sits for a period of time there will be the puff of smoke on fire up that clears in seconds. It does not smoke while driving. AC/Heat work great. Pulls strong, shifts well with no grinding or pop out. 2nd gear syncros are notorious for wear in these, this one does not have an issue with that. I would drive the car to Florida with no concerns. Fresh oil change/filter change. I'm going to try to put 2 videos on if I can before auction end.
Its stated clutch feels strong. Any information you can provide as far as how the car is running? All the info is cosmetic but is the car in good running shape, any issues, transmission and engine are healthy and running like they should? If I buy this car will it be good to drive from TN to FL?
@Racer944 they may have overlooked that in the write up, it was included. They were recovered with leather. The replacements came from LSeats. Every 996 and 986 I’ve owned that didn’t spend most of its life in a garage has either cracked or the stitching has separated, in this particular case the Florida sun was very cruel to the factory leather. The seats were basically flaking apart when I got the car. As for a PPI, I would be open to you arranging for me bringing it in, but ending tomorrow unfortunately there is no way before hand. I have not had one completed. You are welcome to have one completed after bidding ends if you win. The suspension coffin arms/bushings are usually the culprit. My 50k mile 996 Turbo is doing the same due to age and I’m updating that at this very moment.
@JMac11 I didn’t verify the IMS is original, but with the lower miles and no documentation stating otherwise, that would be a safe bet. Previous owner said to her knowledge it had not been done either. She bought the car when she lived in Florida and moved it to TN when she came here for work. As for the undercarriage, it’s never leaked a drop on the driveway and I’ve not seen it wet. It is 23 yrs old and cleaning it thoroughly would definitely be a good use of time. No accident history or signs of bodywork/respray. Definitely had some parking bumps/bruises. I do not believe the bumper shell is actually cracked as worded but the paint is split. There is a deep scratch at that lower left front corner that probably flexed it enough to do that. As for the gap, I think that it’s just the angles of the pictures. Looking along the lines underneath the front hood, everything looks good and the paint is not marred or stretched by the bolt holes where they come together as seen in the open hood shots. Hope this helps, this is definitely not the garage queen my last one was, but being offered for substantially less due to these conditions.
@MC-Leather we drive frequently up there with the WTR PCA group. Some of the best roads in the country.
Seats look like they were re-covered; not common on a car with this low mileage. Any comments or information on this from the seller ?
Also, has the car been to a Porsche Dealer for a PPI or to evaluate suspension noise issue mentioned in the comments? Would seller agree to a PPI as a condition of final sale?
Questions: How did you verify that the IMS bearing is original? What is the source of the oil residue on the trans and other surfaces? RMS leak? Carfax says no accident damage, but the cracks in the bumper cover and the panels gaps between the hood and LF fender (as shown in the pictures) suggest some type of contact to the LF? Thanks!
If I win I'm going to burn those tires to threads on the Snake, highway 421.. I lived in Boone for years and really miss that area

@bubbazipper no history of check engine lights.
@bubbazipper the top has no leaks or tears. Window is clean. It does operate smoothly. The only planned maintenance is it will have a fresh oil change and new cabin filter when the filters come in.
@wmillertn Thank you again. For the top, it goes up and down smoothly? Any leaks? Cracks in the rear window or stitching especially where it folds when down? I tried zooming in the pics but can’t get that close. Any planned service or repairs in the near future? Any history of check engine light coming on?
@bubbazipper yes sir. Clutch, RMS, IMS are all original. No leaks. Clutch still feels strong.
@wmillertn Thank you for your reply. Clutch is original as well?
@bubbazipper prior to my ownership I do not have any of the service records. The IMS bearing is the original.
Hello,
Do you have service records and has the IMS been replaced?
Thank you
