  • Color: Rosso Corsa
  • Seller Type: Private Party
  • Location: Fort Lauderdale, FL 33331
  • Country: United States of America
  • Lot #: V-0055199-DT

Named after the location of Ferrari’s headquarters, the 550 Maranello was launched in 1996 featuring Pininfarina-designed bodywork underpinned by a 5.5-liter V12 paired with a gated 6-speed manual transmission. One of only 3,083 examples produced in total, this 2000 example is finished in Rosso Corsa over Pelle Beige leather interior upholstery. It features three-piece 18" modular wheels, Daytona-style seats with red leather inserts, and more. Showing under 14k miles on the odometer, this Ferrari is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Florida.

Mounted to a tubular steel spaceframe chassis, the 550 Maranello’s Pininfarina-designed bodywork features a prominent hood scoop, vented front fenders, rear quarter panels with top-mounted air intakes, a rounded trunk lid with an integrated spoiler, quad taillights, and quad exhaust outlets. This example is finished in traditional Rosso Corsa and rides on three-piece 18” modular wheels with yellow Ferrari center caps and new tires. Window tint has also been applied. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The cabin presents Pelle Beige leather upholstery and Daytona-style bucket seats with red leather contrasts. Features include a carpeted rear parcel shelf with leather luggage straps, stainless steel Ferrari-branded door sills, drilled alloy pedals, a perforated leather-wrapped steering wheel, a polished gated shifter, and full power accessories. The seller notes wear on the driver’s seat outer bolsters and climate control panel, bubbles on the steering wheel’s airbag cover, and delamination on the rear-view mirror. Additionally, loose upholstery is reported on the parking brake pivot housing, along with some stains on the driver’s door panel.

The naturally aspirated F133A 5.5L V12 produces up to 478 HP and 419 lb.-ft of torque, driving the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission and a mechanical limited-slip differential. Acceleration from 0-60 MPH takes place in approximately 4.5 seconds with a top speed of nearly 200 MPH. Factory performance features include variable assisted power steering, ventilated Brembo disc brakes at all four corners, dual-mode anti-slip regulation, and a four-way anti-lock braking system. A collection of service documentation will accompany the sale, and the CARFAX report shows a total of 14 service history entries.

This sale will include a clean title, two keys, one key fob, the owner’s manual in a leather pouch, service records, a tool kit in a leather pouch, a spare set of floor mats, and a car cover.

@petrus2000 private owner. I bought it in 2014.

  • spazz27 (seller) 1 monthago

@bhobson unfortunately no… previous owner didn’t have it. But they did not touch the opening. It’s all original in that sense.

  • spazz27 (seller) 1 monthago

@CoolClassicsIntl all good in my opinion. There is some wear of course given age, but not “sticky”. Got lucky!

    @1974bronco
No expert, but fellow 550 owner. Sticky buttons and leather shrinkage are common for these cars and other Ferrari models in the 1990s and 2000s. Yes, there is a "fix" for the sticky buttons but it usually involves removal shipping out and reinstalling them. If you undertake this, then you usually would also do the leather while the interior is apart.

@harbormotorcars The Ferrari 550 was built from 1996-2002. Euro cars built from 1996-2000 can already be and are being imported legally. There isn't much of a price difference. The demand for the gated 6-speed currently outstripping any knock on an Euro car.

Maybe some expert or seller can answer this. I read on allot of these the interior issue referred to here. Bubbling, shrinking, sticky etc. I believe I’ve heard there a fix for the sticky. The other issue with the leather, is this a sign of more to come due to age, can these be remedied or is this a re- upholstery of the entire car,$$$ not a job for the faint of heart or just live with it. Most of these seem to have the issues what’s the way forward? Or just a vintage Ferrari mystery

  • CoolClassicsIntl (registered bidder) 1 monthago

Have sticky buttons been replaced or addressed on the car?

  • spazz27 (seller) 1 monthago

@Cgt000 yup! I don't remember for sure what the cost was for those wheels, because it was an option one could add, but I vaguely remember/think it was around $8k in 1996 dollars - which is about $15k in today's dollars! So yeah, it was a pretty penny for sure! Was one of the reasons why I was so attracted to this car when I bought it (Daytona seats with red inserts was another).

The question is what will the 550 market be when the euro cars become legal to import in a year from now?

but to that point, USA cars always bring a premium price like in the 930 turbo market

@Odocommando Hi And yes the service records are all there. I even have the service records that were given to me by the original owner and as far as I can tell, those are complete as well. And regarding the steering, I don't know what is involved to repair that. My best guess is probably just replace the center cover. But what I can tell you is I never did it, because it never really bothered me. In fact, looking at the photo it looks a lot worse than it does when you're there... but I agree with you that if there was anything to modify that would be it...

@Porsche95 Hi! Never smoked in, never vaped, never water bottles, nothing... the only thing that ever entered this car while I owned it was me and my family members. Not even with jeans "just in case"... also, its always been in my garage on a trickle charger in florida. I've never driven it in the rain or snow or anything else. Just sunshine.

@1974Bronco hi! I just did the belt service again in December 2024, before putting the car on auction. And yes, John is a former Ferrari challenge mechanic and I’m sure he’d be ok with you calling him (I’d have to confirm first), and my reason for selling is I’m just not driving it and I think it needs to be with someone who will 🤷🏻‍♂️

  • 1974Bronco (registered bidder) 1 month, 1 weekago

Can you tell me the last belt service I think I see 02,11,15 but hard to tell.
Or is it okay to call your service provider on the receipts. How long have you owned the car? Reason for selling?
