Among the most beloved enthusiast cars, BMW’s original M Coupe was the high-performance fixed-roof version of the Z3. It boasts improved chassis rigidity, the venerable S52 inline-six engine and brakes from the E36 M3, an upgraded suspension, and more aggressive bodywork. This 2000 example comes finished in Imola Red over Dark Beige Oregon leather upholstery. It is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California with just under 8k miles showing on the odometer.
This M Coupe is one of 355 S52-equipped examples to have come finished in Imola Red. Details include black Shadowline trim, M-badged fender vents, M-specific bumper covers, rounded aero mirrors, and quad exhaust outlets. The car rides on factory silver-finished 17” Style 40 “Roadstar” wheels. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The cabin is trimmed in Dark Beige Oregon leather and includes power-adjustable and heated sport seats. BMW Motorsport features include a leather-wrapped M-Sport steering wheel, an M shift knob, M-branded door sills, and chrome-trimmed instrumentation with auxiliary gauges in the center stack. Other amenities include a glass sunroof, air conditioning, an alarm system with keyless entry, and a BMW Business CD stereo system.
This M Coupe is powered by a 3.2L S52 inline-six engine borrowed from the E36 M3, which produces up to 240 HP and 236 lb.-ft of torque. The rear wheels are driven by a ZF 5-speed manual transmission and mechanical limited-slip differential, allowing acceleration from 0-60 MPH in approximately 5 seconds. The M Coupe was built with a wider front and rear track than a standard Z3, and received a lowered ride height, modified front suspension geometry, firmer springs and shock absorbers, strengthened semi-trailing arms, and a reinforced subframe. The brakes were also carried over from the E36 M3.
This sale will include a clean title, owner’s manuals, a tool kit, and a spare tire.
The seller would like you to know: “Recently purchased from its most recent southern California owners with a clean CARFAX report to confirm both its low mileage with no history of any accidents! An obviously always babied and pampered example if there ever was one! The all-original factory 'Imola Red' color paint is in absolutely beautiful condition and the gorgeous 'Dark Beige' Leather interior is also in beautiful condition throughout with virtually no signs of any wear and all the options are working as they should including the ice-cold A/C! The car drives exactly like such a well-maintained and babied low mileage model should and must be seen and driven to be truly appreciated! The engine is extremely strong and as new with no oil leaks, the transmission has a very smooth transmission through all the gears and the temperature always remains cool! You will surely look long and hard to find a finer example of this very rare and extremely low-production 2000 BMW Z3 M Coupe with only 7,959 miles for the ultimate BMW driving experience and collectability available anywhere else!”
