Specified for the Japanese market, this 1998 Mercedes-Benz E320 Wagon is equipped with a host of desirable options, including rare Viola Metallic paint, Avantgarde body styling, and the 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system. Additional features include Black and Graphite Cuir leather upholstery, a glass sunroof, heated power-adjustable front seats, cruise control, dual-zone automatic climate control, self-leveling suspension, 18” AMG monoblock alloy wheels, and more. Acquired by the current owner and imported to the U.S. approximately two years ago, this W210 is now available for auction out of New York showing just over 70k kilometers (under 44k miles) on the odometer.
This wagon is finished in striking Viola Metallic (339U) and features Avantgarde-specific styling elements including unique bumpers, side skirts, fender badges, and blue-tinted glass. Other standout features include xenon headlamps, integrated front fog lights, power-folding mirrors (not available on U.S. models), a power-operated glass sunroof, roof rails, an eccentric-sweeping monoblade wiper, and twin chrome-finished AMG-branded exhaust outlets. A set of 18” AMG monoblock wheels have been installed and mounted with new tires within the last 2k miles. The seller notes minor signs of wear as expected with age and paintwork from prior ownership. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The cabin features Black and Graphite Cuir leather upholstery with polished wood veneers. The front seats are heated, power-adjustable, and equipped with the Memory Package. The second row includes a bench seat backed by a folding rear-facing third-row bench. Amenities include a leather-wrapped steering wheel, an Avantgarde-branded shifter, cruise control, dual-zone climate control, and an upgraded VDO Continental stereo with Bluetooth streaming. A small blemish is noted on the wood trim above the center air vent along with minor imperfections on the trunk carpet.
Power comes from a 3.2-liter M112 V6 engine driving all four wheels through a 5-speed automatic transmission and 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system. Performance features include a self-leveling suspension, Automatic Slip Control (ASR), and four-wheel ventilated disc brakes. Maintenance in May 2023 included an oil and filter change and new brake pads and rotors. Maintenance completed in May 2024 includes exhaust system servicing, spark plug replacement, and a new mass air flow meter. A collection of service records is available in the gallery.
This sale will include a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “Very hard to find European/ROW example finished in Rare Viola (purple) and equipped with the Avantgarde package, both of which are never seen on US production models. This is one of the coolest vintage German family Estate Wagons you could possibly buy to take to cars and coffee with the whole family. It runs perfectly and gets compliments wherever it goes. Please come see prior to bidding if local. You won't be disappointed.”

@hansjorg @hansjorg suspension is factory, was just slightly lowered so can be put back easily. The car came with a set of OEM CLK430 wheels which quite frankly looked "ok" but sort of out of place which is why I went with this look. I had a friend who needed them for his CLK and they went to him. I had no use for them. If you don't want the AMG wheels, I am sure you can find the smaller stock size and sell these for considerably more.

Sorry for the last moment questions:
Do you still have the orig. Avantgarde wheels and can the suspension easily changed back to factory settings?
Thank you

@Merlyn E60 sounds unreal, thank you for the comment. Will be sad to see this go!
I have the same shape estate car but as an E60, the W210 is a wonderful, I had an Violan E320 estate when they were new, moving from an E300 124 estate, it was wonderful how Mercedes Benz had listened to the owners of the 124 and corrected all the little issues in the 210
If I was told I could only have one car for life, it wouldn't be any of the Ferraris or Porsches I've owned, it would be a Mercedes wagon
Thank you all for the bids, comments and interest so far. I will be standing by for any last min questions.

@jhess Hi and thanks for the interest. I know it can be taxing going through all of the comments but if you refer to the one on Sun, I noticed it wasn't opening all the way when a bidder requested the video. I have it scheduled to go to my mechanic on Sun when he returns from a trip to get it sorted out so the new owner will not have to deal with it. If the winner is in a rush to get the car immediately, I can leave it as-is an offer a $500 credit on the sale. Hope this helps.
Is the moonroof fully operational? Seems to be some sort of an issue there from the video. Do all the electronics in the car work?

@Mikedusaf I would refer to the receipt, none of it needed replacement, it was brought in because the front looked like it was sitting too high (mainly for asthetics). I haven't experienced any rubbing, however, I only take it on lower speed local roads that are quite smooth. Depending on where you may take it, an adjustment may be necessary. For the record the car still rides exceptionally smooth and the wheel size has not compromised that distinctive Mercedes-Benz feel.
Is there any rubbing? Were the struts replaced or only springs? Also was an alignment completed?
@mhenry1124 yes
@11JM it stands for winter versus summer modes. Essentially the winter mode starts the car off in second gear.
@cotom that is for the different transmission modes.
what does the W/S switch next to gears operate ?
@AndyL215 thank you! Was nice seeing you at the event. Your Spyder looked awesome as always.
I saw this car and owner over the weekend.
It’s absolutely gorgeous. This color is amazing. The condition of the car is unreal. If I had the room it would be mine. Bid with confidence on this one.
@RoyalCX my pleasure, at the end of this my hopes are that expectations are exceeded by the buyer. Hard for any older car to be a million percent perfect. But this is a cool one and someone will enjoy it for sure!
@11JM I appreciate your efforts and transparency in showing and describing the car.
Bid in the amount of $7,250
@DLC I don't know how I missed that. Just took it off and uploaded a photo of the area. There is a small imperfection. if you refresh it should be the last photo in the gallery
what is the "tape" on the driver's door frame at 1:17 of the latest video?
Thanks
@DLC video has been added. Appreciate you asking as when checking it, noticed it is stopping half way and not fully opening. It does tilt. I will have it in to my tech and it will be remedied before the next owner takes possession.
@RoyalCX took the video as you requested and it is being uploaded right now by PCAR. As I feel that I highlighted everything already, this can just provide extra assurance. If you are local and want to see it before auction closing, I welcome that. I have never applied protective film as I only drove it around my town locally on weekends occasionally. I am not on roads with trucks or high speed hazards. The paintwork is common on cars sold on Japanese market, I have never been told the firm reason why they paint the cars as common practice but I can assure you I don't see any evidence of any panels being replaced or taken off of the car for any reason. A very discerning person will see some areas of minor imperfections in the finish that are invisible in photos and if wet sanded will most likely be remedied completely. I would rate this as a very high-quality driver with low mileage and a very rare spec. I hope it works for you and appreciate all of the bids so far.
@11JM Seller Is there or has there ever been protective film on any parts of the body?
@DLC yes absolutely
Will get a video loaded first thing tomorrow
@11JM Seller Could you please comment on the paintwork from the prior owner(s). Can you see evidence of the paintwork (e.g., tape lines, orange peel, mismatch of exact color)?
can you take some pictures of the headliner? Does sunroof work properly?
Thanks
Bid in the amount of $7,000
@RoyalCX hi. Did my best, I can take a video over the weekend and try to get close up on anything I see. It has normal wear and tear, but nothing that requires refinishing etc…. Stay tuned, I’ll make a comment when it’s added

Seller, is every paint defect highlighted in the photos? If not, could you please specifically point them out. Thank you.

Absolutely love this, a real head-turner. Someone will be very happy with this one. GLWS!
@Sodo-moto definitely would have bought it if I didn't have this one. It was a cool spec.
@11JM - yes - E420T RWD - but similar Avantgarde trim; VIOLAN metallic paint (339U). As well as a few factory AMG touches – body kit & ‘shell modification’ for 8 & 9 Monoblock.
thanks
@Sodo-moto I think I saw that car while it was over there, is it a rear wheel?
@DLC Japan makes both available because the market for purists is very much present and that is how they want the car. Thankfully it is LHD or I would not have brought it in to the US
@DLC Rest of World, meaning it is a European spec. Thank you for the interest.
@jglobe @jglobe the wheels on the car are factory E55 18" monoblock wheels. If you would like, they can be swapped out for a set of 17" AMG wheels that are on a CLK430 (factory facelift wheels). It would be your choice.
@DLC A/C is ice cold! Works perfectly. It is digital factory dual-zone climate control.
Bid in the amount of $3,000
Bid in the amount of $2,750
Nice wagon, @11JM - looks identical to an E420 I imported earlier this year. Also Japanese-market LHD.
@DLC - most Euro cars in Japan this era were LHD from the factory for the cache. Lower-end models and mercedes vans were more commonly RHD for the practicality.
GLWS.
thank you...........Specified for the Japanese market.............doesn't that mean right hand drive?
@DLC - Rest Of World
what is ROW?
Does it come with the original set of wheels?
does AC work?
