Available for auction is this 1998 Chevrolet Tahoe finished in Beige Mystique and Onyx Black over a Neutral Custom cloth interior. Based upon the GMT400 platform shared with the Chevrolet Suburban and GMC Yukon, Chevrolet’s Tahoe replaced the Blazer for the 1995 model year and was offered in both two and four-door configurations. This 1998 example was originally delivered by Home Motors of Santa Maria, California in November of 1997. It is said to have remained within the same family from new and comes factory equipped with the Preferred Equipment Group 1SB, high back reclining bucket seats, a locking rear differential, heavy-duty trailering equipment, and more. Accompanied by a comprehensive collection of documentation, this Tahoe is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California while showing just over 26k miles on the odometer.
This short-wheelbase Tahoe is based upon the GMT400 platform which is derived from the Chevrolet Silverado full-size pickup truck chassis and is constructed from two-sided zinc-coated galvanized steel. This example is finished in a premium two-tone combination of Beige Mystique with a Black Onyx lower body. The finish is described to be nicely preserved and the seller notes a limited number of small imperfections can be seen throughout. A collection of detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report. Details include chrome front and rear bumpers, roof rails, “barn” style Panel rear doors, folding side mirrors, a receiver hitch, and 15” aluminum wheels dressed in a set of newer Cooper Discoverer tires.
The cabin is upholstered in Natural Custom Cloth and equipped with factory-optional power-adjustable high-back reclining bucket seats. Amenities include floor and overhead consoles, power door locks, and the Preferred Equipment Group 1SB which adds air conditioning, power-operated windows and mirrors, ComfortTilt steering, cruise control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, an electrochromatic rearview mirror with compass and thermometer, and more. An upgraded Sony head unit with Bluetooth connectivity has been installed and the seller confirms that all gauges and accessories remain functional.
Power comes from a Vortec 5700 L31 5.7-liter V8 engine which produced up to 255 HP and 335 lb.-ft of torque when new. The rear wheels are driven by way of a 4L60E 4-speed automatic transmission with a heavy-duty auxiliary cooling system, a rear locking differential, and 3.42 gears. The Tahoe came equipped as standard with speed-sensitive power steering, four-wheel ABS, and independent front suspension. The seller has provided several service invoices dating back as far as 1997, and the brakes were reportedly serviced with new pads and rotors in July 2022.
This sale will include owner’s literature, a window sticker, a promotional kit including a flashlight, thermos, and a clean title.
