A custom two-year restoration completed in 2024, this 1997 Porsche 993 Turbo has been refinished in Porsche’s modern Arctic Grey paint color and features a rebuilt twin-turbocharged flat-six engine with an upgraded 3.9-liter displacement. The car has been modified with a front spoiler, LED projector headlamps, Turbo S-style fog lights, LED taillights, a custom rear decklid spoiler, dual center-mounted tailpipes, and 19” BBS LM wheels. The new interior features custom black leather and Alcantara upholstery with yellow stitching, yellow seatbelts, a yellow tachometer, a custom four-spoke steering wheel, and a Porsche Classic (PCCM) stereo. Restored and tastefully modified from the ground up, this 993 Turbo is now being offered for auction by its owner out of Connecticut.
This 993 has been completely refinished in the modern Porsche color of Arctic Grey. The car reportedly sustained damage under original ownership from an accident in 2001 and was repaired by J&B Body Work. However, the repairs were never paid for and the car was subsequently issued a rebuilt/salvage title. The seller commissioned the specialists at Abreu Motors to perform the new paintwork along with the installation of LED projector headlights, Turbo S-style fog lights, a front lip spoiler, side skirts, LED taillights, a custom ducktail-style rear decklid, and dual center-mounted exhaust tips. Yellow-painted brake calipers are mounted behind three-piece 19” BBS LM wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires.
The interior has been completely redone featuring black leather upholstery and deviated yellow stitching covering the dashboard, door panels, center console, rear seats, and power-adjustable front Sport Seats. Black Alcantara is used for the headliner, dashboard trim, and instrument cluster surround. Other accessories include a custom four-spoke steering wheel with carbon fiber trim and yellow stitching, a black aluminum gear knob and brake handle, drilled black aluminum pedals, yellow seatbelts, a yellow tachometer dial, custom “twin turbo” polished door sills, custom embroidered floor mats, a Porsche Classic (PCCM) head unit, and upgraded speakers.
The original twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter flat-six engine was rebuilt by Emagontronic of Bridgeport, Connecticut, at approximately 21k miles including a 3.9-liter displacement upgrade with Mahle pistons, rebuilt turbochargers, and a custom exhaust system. Power is delivered to all four wheels through a 6-speed manual transaxle. The seller states the output could be tuned to 560+ HP.
This sale will include owner’s manuals and a rebuilt/salvage title.
The seller would like you to know: “Truly a wonderful car.”

@993David Pcar should have much higher incremental bidding at this level.
Initially, this was entertaining but now it's just painful to watch the minimal bids go by.

A 1997 993 Turbo low miles with out title issue would be over $300k. I just had a friend drop 350k on one. This is very unusual car, will be interesting

"The repairs were never paid for and the car was subsequently issued a rebuilt/salvage title", as far as I know, a vehicle is reported as a total loss by the insurance company that paid for the claim. An owner can retain the vehicle for a reduction on the settlement from the insurance proceeds or they would sell the car at an insurance auction. Whomever ends up with the vehicle can repair it and apply for new title at DMV, and they'll issue a rebuilt/salvage title after the car passes a light safety inspection which mainly is operation of lights and indicators.

A stated value policy is always an option. I use Hagerty and they have been good to deal with for multiple autos over the yrs
@seller - understood regarding the financing for this Porsche bc of the rebuilt title. This will always be an issue going forward. Thanks
Bid in the amount of $130,000
@theiii Porsche Auto Insurance says they won't insure a rebuilt salvage title car and other carriers may, but liability only. Is there a workaround
@P1Automotive this is what my research found. No, you cannot simply "change" a salvage title on a car; once a vehicle is declared a total loss and given a salvage title, it usually cannot be legally titled as a clean car again in most states, but you can potentially have it reclassified as a "rebuilt title" if you repair the vehicle and get it inspected to meet state standards after purchasing it.
@seller did you try and get Carfax to remove the salvage brand or appeal the salvage title for just a hood and fender and wheel well? Curious to see if they gave you a response.

@Jhochwalt The car is registered and I drive it on the street.
@ Jhochwalt - A rebuilt / salvage title doesn’t ALWAYS mean it’s unsafe to drive on the street. However, in some cases, yes. That’s why the DoT gives vehicles branded titles, to keep people alert of any possible previous damages. However, the pedigree of this build does give me some certainty that the repairs were done previously were completed adequately.
HOWEVER, the only way to determine that is to drive it ourselves. I wouldn’t only take someone’s word. I would need to invest in both off and on road test drives to ensure stability due to the branded title.
There’s a caveat, both the seller and Pcarmarket, is representing that the branded salvage/rebuilt title is only on this vehicle‘s title because of a lack of payment for repairs done back in 2001. That’s new to me…. that a repair shop can have the power of retribution of damaging the title of a car for the rest of its life just because the owner of the car at the time decided NOT to pay the repair invoices. IF you ask me, there are other avenues, legal options that could’ve been taken instead of “incorrectly” branding the title of the Porsche. However, none of us know that. Who knows what happened back in 2001.
@BOOOM can a buyer even register it to safely drive on the street?
@Longclose sent
@Miller711 happy to send build - send email
@Rocolodoco Happy to send build sheet from Abreu if that helps. There is no history on the enigine except mileage checked out. Engine was young. Perfect shape - Elio builds all Abreu engines - I recommend you give him a call Monday if your interested.

@Finalspeed I am not familiar with CA laws - so I am sorry I am not more helpful with this .
@Rocolodoco Suspension was upgraded to bilsteins - the transmission is stock.
@Clay7484 no joke - if your serious feel free to reach out to Elio at Emegatronic.
Seriously WTF is that invoice? Zero info on how the motor went from 3.6 to 3.9. What parts were used, engine management, tuning is that a joke?
Has the engine completed its rebuild run-in period and had a post run-in service which looked over everything on the engine?
Can you should the service history post rebuild?
Seems like the transmission and suspension are still stock, is there any concern around the gearbox holding those power figures?

Maybe I missed it, but did you determine if the car will pass CA smog?
Is there a receipt for the engine rebuild? Any word done to the transmission, suspension etc?
Beautiful restoration. Nice throw back choices.
Artic Silver it is not. More like seal gray?
Be great to see the restoration repares pictures.
@Rocolodoco Evertyhing was removed from the car prior to paint.
Windows out
Doors off
Total shell when painted
@Miller711 Hi - THere are no photos of the damage or repairs -- J and B did not keep photos back that far.

Bid in the amount of $120,569
Is it possible to get pictures of the damage? Receipts for the repairs?
Bid in the amount of $120,250
@raceya1990 - Couldn’t agree more. Even with this pedigree of build, a salvage title will destroy any possibilities of being able to finance the car, limiting the buyers to just cash or I interest rate loans. Unless if there’s a way of better understanding what happened to cause the salvage/rebuilt title, there’s very little you can do at the DMV. They’ll want pics, etc to make any changes. But I believe the seller doesn’t have any.
Was the repaint an open door respray or was the car brought back to bare metal as part of the restoration?
@Longclose please check if possible. Would like to know if possible to register there. Thank you
Longclose
lightstream/Ally will fund salvage titles please confirm so i can reach out bc i checked putnam, jj best, woodside, all who i have worked with in the past and they all love the care but not the carfax.....thank you for your assistance
@raceya1990 LightStream - Ally - depends on how much you need. These are a few options. Thanks for your comments.
Eric
@Finalspeed I dont think so but I can check.
Beautiful. Do you know if this car will pass smog in CA?
AMAZING JOB AND BUILD MY ONLY QUESTION IS WHY SUCH A HUGE INVESTMENT OF TIME RESOURCES INTO A SALVAGE TITLE ....THIS LIMITS TO ONLY CASH BUYERS AS NO BANK WILL TOUCH A SALVAGE TITLE EVEN WITH THIS PEDIGREE BUILD.....
My goodness this is gorgeous. Congratulations to the person that takes this home.
Wow! Amazing build! Also curious about the front splitter. Looks like a GT2 extension without the side “wings” mounted onto the turbo S splitter. GLWA! Love the ducktail.
@bbroetsky - $33k bid jump? So early in the game lol
amazing Car! If I had not just picked up one of these last week, I’d be all over this! If what’s being said about the branded title is true, you can negotiate with Carfax and get them to make a correction! This car is gonna hit 200,000, and keep going from there!

@seller - Is there a way that you can upload the build sheets or costs from Abreu Motors? Interesting to see what he would charge for a build like this. Thanks
@chuckent front side hit - replaced hood passenger fender and wheel well. No photos unfortuantely. J and B best shop for this kind of repair. Hugley successful. Joe Izzo the owner is a dear friend. Frame is straight nothing was bent or twisted. Feel free to go take a look. I would not have bought the car if I thought it an issue.
Eric
@fastandloud29 THe duct tail was made in Germany - its awesome.
@StickyBlackice Car is in CT - Sorry about that - But is worthy of a visit.
@Upshift4 Fender hood and wheel well - You are welcom to inspect the vehicle.
@rabender Loading more photos today. Engine work was completed by Elio Mitri. Feel freet to reach out to him at Emegatronic. Hes one of the best I have worked with.
Eric
@993David Maybe New York Laws are different but remember it was also 24 years ago.
You are welcome to come inspect the car.

@Upshift4 No photos of the damage from 2001.
You're more than welcom to inspect the car.
It car was totally stripped and repainted. Awesome repair.
J and B is the best shop around. I would not have bought the car if I questioned its condition. My reputation is far to important to me. Happy to discuss with you.
Bid in the amount of $76,993
Stunning Car! Do you have receipts for all the work done both mechanically and cosmetically and any photos of the undercarriage. Also, details of the title and VIN. Thx.
Bid in the amount of $75,993
@seller do you have any pictures of the underbody? Is there any receipts from the engine rebuild or work done at Abreu? Any suspension work? Looks like a nice build and the 993 turbo platform is hard to beat
@Upshift4 it’s unlike the damage was superficial. In order to total the car and issue a salvage title the repair estimate needs to exceed 80% of nada retail value. At least in Kentucky
Wow. Beautifully done. It's likely just me, but where are the sun visors (photo 33)?
Any photos of the damage? Was it superficial or structural?
Bid in the amount of $22,000
Love the car, and i see the SC plates. I'm in Sc as well. Is there a way I can see in person? Not sure if you can send direct message, but very interested.
Great job on this build. The duck tail is perfect!
Bid in the amount of $19,993
can you elaborate some on the accident damage? Do you have any under carriage pictures?
