Introduced as a concept car at the 1993 Detroit Auto Show, the Plymouth Prowler entered limited production in 1997, quickly earning its place as one of the most distinctive cars of the 1990s. This 1997 example, one of only 457 units produced in the inaugural model year, is powered by a 3.5-liter SOHC V6 engine paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission with AutoStick manual shifting. Finished in Prowler Purple Metallic over an Agate leather upholstery, it features a manually-operated black soft top, staggered 17” wheels, an AM/FM cassette stereo with a CD changer, and other notable features. Showing just over 8k miles on the odometer, this limited-production Prowler is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Canada.
Drawing design cues from 1930s hot rods, the Prowler features a lightweight aluminum construction paired with distinctive design elements, including exposed front wheels, flared cycle-style fenders, and a tapered boat-tail rear. This 1997 example is finished in Prowler Purple Metallic, the exclusive color for the model’s debut year. It has a manually operated black soft top, split front and rear bumpers with integrated lighting, and dual exhaust outlets. It rides on 17” front and 20” rear five-spoke wheels wrapped in Goodyear Eagle tires. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The interior is appointed with bolstered bucket seats upholstered in Agate leather, embossed Prowler logos on the seatbacks, and color-coordinated door panels and carpets. It has a retro-styled instrument cluster with a center-mounted AutoMeter tachometer and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Amenities include air conditioning, cruise control, and an AM/FM/cassette stereo paired with a six-disc CD changer. All gauges and electronics are reportedly in proper working order.
Power comes from a 3.5-liter V6 engine equipped with a steel block, which delivers a factory-rated 214 HP and 221 lb.-ft of torque to rear wheels through a rear-mounted 4-speed automatic transmission with an AutoStick shifter, enabling manual gear selection. It has an independent front and rear suspension with coilover shocks in the front and a multi-link setup in the rear for improved handling. Four-wheel ventilated disc brakes are equipped with an anti-lock braking system (ABS) to facilitate stopping power. The seller notes the vehicle has received a new fuel pump and routine maintenance.
This sale will include a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “This is honestly a prime example of a super cool collector car. It’s in excellent condition throughout and is priced very aggressively.”
