Debuting in 1996, the 993-generation Porsche 911 Targa introduced a new sliding glass roof system and remained in production until 1998, with only 4,583 units produced globally. This Porsche 993 Targa is one of just 462 sold in the United States for its model year. It is finished in Arena Red over a Black leather interior and comes equipped with an optional Tiptronic automatic transmission, Aerokit front and rear spoilers, Turbo Twist wheels, and more. Showing under 59k miles on the odometer, this rare and meticulously maintained example is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New York.
This Targa comes finished in Arena Red and boasts a factory Aerokit, featuring a distinctive front spoiler and bi-plane rear wing with integrated cooling ducts. Other features include iconic wide fenders and black-finished Turbo Twist wheels wrapped in a new set of Michelin tires, and a set of 17" Targa wheels is said to accompany the sale. The seller notes potential paint correction on the rear driver quarter panel measuring 8.8mm. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report and paint meter readings.
Inside, the cabin offers Black leather upholstery with matching carpets and a leather-wrapped shift knob and handbrake. Driver amenities include power-operated seats, automatic air conditioning, cruise control, a power sunshade, and a sliding glass roof, along with a detachable radio display with a CD changer. Other features include optional Porsche crested headrests and leather-covered instrument gauge bezels. All gauges and electronics are reported to be working properly.
Power is derived from an air-cooled 3.6-liter flat-six engine, delivering up to 282 HP and 250 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 4-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission. The seller notes that a comprehensive service, including seal, ring, and spark plug replacement, as well as a complete fluid change and A/C compressor replacement (valued at $4,000 by the dealer), was performed in June 2020, with corresponding service records available.
This sale will include the owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, an air pump, a set of original wheels, and a clean title.
The seller would like you to know: “Excellent example of a true 993 Targa. All original and a true gem. A great addition to any Porsche collector. Since purchase, I added less than 1,100 miles as I am a collector myself.”

@jwilkins2015 Unfortunately, i do not have a video...if it was asked sooner as the auction started 6 days ago, then I would have been able to...Sorry i do not have anymore under side pics.
Do you have more under side photos? Perhaps a driving video?
@Pdqgt3 Emissions was passed. No issues.
Bid in the amount of $37,000
Last entry on the CarFax was failed emission test. Do you know what the problem is, was it fixed? Is the emission systems intact and original?
Bid in the amount of $36,250
@Jwilkins ...original paint...I am unaware of any paintwork as the car meters correctly except the drivers rear quarter panel..its measures 7.7 to 8.8....that was painted most likely...the wheels are not from factory...the factory Targa wheels are included...refer to the pics for paint meter and Targa wheels.
Has the car ever had any paint work? Are the wheels black from the factory?
Bid in the amount of $36,000
@GravyTrain I took it off to secure it better. Noticed it was loose. common for these seats.
@GravyTrain Yes.
Beautiful car. Do you have the panel for the drivers side seat that is missing in the video?
@Nino20 yep, saw that, thanks. My comment still stands.
@Damaho912 FACTORY AERO KIT. I believe its on the option code under the bonnet.
@Damaho912 read the description...IT IS A FACTORY AERO KIT FROM PORSCHE>>STUUTGART GERMANY.
Never been a fan of putting a body kit on a 911. And adding one to a 993 especially is just a travesty. However, this looks really nice and tasteful! The colors, everything really, just gorgeous!

@slwags10 ...i had a dealer friend at Porsche..he was able to determine..i think..i while back lol
@oldsouth not sure...I purchased with the 3M.
How long has the film been on the car?
@nino20 Any idea where the US Sales numbers came from? I've been trying to get US Sales numbers for my 2009 Targa 4S, but can only get global production numbers (1156). Can't seem to find the right data for these amazing cars...
@Balibay Yes...very rare...thats why i snatched it up...very few numbers in North America and Canada...i researched and only found one other in grey....but with high mileage and fare condition.
@slwags10 Thank you...the way the car was kept was impressive...i purchased the first time i saw it in person...in a showroom./
Simply gorgeous car. Can't beat a glass top 911 of any generation. But this 993 is a rare breed...
Beautiful car - not sure that I have ever seen a factory aero kit on a 993 Targa. Seems pretty rare! These Targas are wonderful. GLWA!
