It is our pleasure to offer this 1994 Porsche 964 Turbo 3.6 finished in Midnight Blue Metallic over a black full leather interior.  In January of 1993, the 911 Turbo became one of the fastest production cars in the world featuring a new turbocharged version of the 3.6L M64 flat-six engine, a design that had proven itself during the Carrera Cup racing series.  The 911 Turbo 3.6 was also offered with distinctive Speedline multi-piece wheels, larger Brembo brakes, and a 5-speed manual transmission with limited-slip differential as standard. This 1994 example is one of less than 1,500 produced in total and was sold new in Florida with optional supple leather seats and an exclusive Dark Rootwood shift knob. Acquired by the current owner in 2016 and preserved in climate-controlled storage ever since, this highly collectible 964 Turbo 3.6 is now being offered for auction out of Florida showing approximately 15k miles on the odometer,

This 964 was ordered in Midnight Blue Metallic (L39C) and features wide fenders, a distinctive Tea Tray rear spoiler, red-painted brake calipers, and a chromium rear model designation.  The factory 18” Speedline multi-piece wheels come dressed in a set of Michelin Pilot Sport tires. Over $5k worth of professional detailing was carried out in 2016 including a triple application of Ceramic Pro coating, and the seller reports the car has been kept in a climate-controlled setting ever since. The paint meter readings show some inconsistencies throughout the finish, images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

Inside, this Turbo features a black full leather interior (VD) with optional supple leather seats and a Dark Rootwood shift knob from Porsche’s Exclusive Department.  The seller notes the cabin has been completely detailed and remains in excellent original condition with all gauges and accessories working properly.  The factory specifications label lists the following equipment codes:

  • XC9 – Dark Rootwood Shift Knob
  • 513 – 4-Way Electrical Lumbar Support, Right Seat
  • 586 – 4-Way Electrical Lumbar Support, Left Seat
  • 650 - Sunroof
  • 692 – CD Changer Alpine Porsche CD-2
  • 935 – Supple Leather Rear Seats
  • 980 – Supple Leather Front Seats

The 3.6L M64/60 flat-six engine is equipped with a KKK K27 turbocharger, intercooler, and Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection.  As much as 355 HP and 384 lb.-ft of torque are sent to the rear wheels through a 5-speed G50 manual transmission and a limited-slip differential.  Compared to the first-generation 964 Turbo, the Turbo 3.6 featured larger Brembo brakes with fixed 4-piston aluminum calipers as well as a lowered and retuned suspension.  A 2017 service invoice and multi-point inspection from Champion Porsche are provided in the gallery.

This sale will include the original window sticker, owner's manuals, and a clean title.  A fine example of one of Porsche's most iconic air-cooled Turbos, this Midnight Blue Metallic Turbo 3.6 is ready to be displayed and enjoyed by a new caretaker.

@Murph-Dog Please explain? What is the point of this format if people don't ask questions? If you can't see the car in person questions are the only way to find out the facts about the car. I find far too many opinions that aren't relevant to be more disturbing.

I had a dozen or so people contact me asking about this turbo especially the paint readings and qty made in this color. I have too many Porsche's and a 3.6T so I have no need for another so I set the record straight so I didn't get anymore questions myself.

Finding one of these that doesn't have skeletons is hard if not next to impossible these days. Even more rare is a metallic color or anything other than black, white, red or silver. If you find a true unicorn you will pay far more than $275k. These are approaching 30 years old and very few remain in all original paint. Most have traded hands multiple times over the years with more forgotten than passed on.

My 94 is original paint and I have one panel with an outlying 9mils. It is a small area about 3/4". So what? It doesn't show at all and the best concours judges can't and feel it left that way from the factory. I find original paint to be a curse myself. I find it takes a lot of the joy out of ownership.

I am sure whoever buys this car will be happy. You aren't buying the paint as much as the experience and a 94 turbo 3.6 is one of the most unique driving experiences one can have.

For the record the Bad Boys turbo was a 100% repaint. I have no doubt if it was sold at any other auction house including Gooding, BaT or Pcarmarket it would have brought much more. Mecum is not the place you want to sell a Porsche.

@utopify How are you? Thank you for your message, as I disclosed before, I have no history on why the right front and rear fenders show paint work on the meter. Better then my words is the buyer having a PPI or personally inspecting it, there are 2 bidders doing it today and tomorrow. If you whish to please reach "contact seller" link. ALL the best, Rodrigo

I like people "poking holes" in auctions - it is how the lesser informed (like myself) learn. Now, there is a difference between being annoying and being helpful for sure. However it's hard as a seller to check all the boxes, thus....this chat. The more chatter and information sharing (WITH fact-checking) the better. I've learned gobs on these auctions. Coming from a bidder and a seller. I think the well-informed and seasoned among us can decipher between the need to fact-check or ignore....and the sellers don't have to entertain it all.
I love this car - and I'd like to know the facts on the paint work, which...I do think should be fully disclosed so that there are no surprises. With only 15K miles, there is likely a reason for the paintwork.

@Murph-Dog very well said and time one call d out the commenters whose agenda is to promote their knowledge on the finer points on Porsches. These types give the rest of us Porsche disciples a bad reputation. My advice to those types is to please go find another hobby to quench your zest for self promotion or reconsider your comments before posing here or on other auction sites

@Murph-Dog You hit the nail on the head. People don't realize the additional work that sellers have to go through to jump through those hoops. In some occasions the questions are justified but I find all too often that the questions asked are asked by people who are trying to demonstrate just how smart they are or they are looking for their 15 minutes of fame.
The auction format and Pcar in particular is a great format and a good way to vet a car if you can't go and see it yourself but commentators need to be more considerate and careful of what hoops they are asking the seller to jump through.
Good luck to seller and all potential serious bidders.

@Murph-Dog thank you for the comment on the car :)

  • 2 years, 11 monthsago

Murph-Dog. I totally agree with most of the comments that these register so call bidders are just that register bidders who never bid let alone capable of doing this kind of purchase and are just annoying. If you're not a serious bidder just stay away...

  • Murph-Dog (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

Beautiful car, impeccably maintained and will fetch a premium. I find it interesting that a lot of commenters on PCAR market ask absurd questions, try to poke holes in the car, and generally imply that the sellers are being less then forthcoming with information. These are typically the same people, that ask these questions about multiple cars on PCAR and never seem to make a bid, much less a purchase. If you're not a serious buyer, don't burden the buyer and make them jump through hoops for no reason. These questions take a tremendous amount of time to field and respond to, think about that when requesting information from the seller.

@william thank you for sharing :)

@Bison2020 For any Porsche of a certain price, a paint meter is really a necessity. It's the only way to know if a panel has be repainted or not

Most of the 911 has usually had one or 2 fenders repainted with reading >8
It's not a big deal by itself, but you just can't say it all original paint on the panels

I used to have a 964Rs in midnight blue non-metallic, but this metallic midnight blue looks way better in my opinion

Good luck with the sell @seller

  • Bison2020 (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

@nosubstitute4porsche Do you think that would really be all that helpful? My guess is that it would only cause more confusion.... considering there must be some differences inherent in painting these cars even from the factory...

@cobalt thank you for your post. The conclusion is that the rear right fender and front right fender have paint work. As for the units/colors thank you also on the update. I'll upload under car photos as requested, they are not in the same quality as the current ones but will work out fine. All the best

  • cobalt 2 years, 11 monthsago

I am not going to comment about the paint panels originality that is up to the buyer to come to a conclusion about 19 mils. It is obvious that at a minimum the rear bumper has been painted. The Vin sticker has been painted over and the factory would not do that.

I will correct you that this is one of 3 midnight blue 3.6T's I have been keeping records for 20 years on these. Midnight is a gorgeous color and any metallic is rare on a 3.6T most were black, white or red. As far as the most common metallic colors for these in the US Polar silver is #1 with around 18 units I know of and several more that no longer exist and I have records of at least 15 metallic black and Midnight blue turbos in the US.

A gorgeous car no doubt and a 3.6T which are rapidly climbing in value. There are probably 250 =/- out of the 335 imported (most likely less) of these remaining in the US so not an easy car to come by. If you want midnight as many do you have 15 or so to choose from but this being the only one currently for sale I know of. This IMO is far nicer than the polar silver that sold on BaT for $335k. Other than the paint ?? which may or maynot be an issue this appears to be a nice clean example.

Any chance you can add photos for the underside?

@Bison2020 just a thought here would you meter your car and share the readings with us? just a thought I mean you own one and here is one, same color, same year? thank you seller for bringing this car here..

I own another midnight blue 96 3.6. This is my favorite 911. Bad Boys car just went for 1.4... let's see what this one does.

  • RumbleAuto (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

@rodrigobonadia - thank you for the thoughtful response and I can confirm I've seen some similar patterns in other 911s from that period that also don't have any known accident history or paintwork.

  • rodrigobonadia (seller) 2 years, 11 monthsago

@robcapecod last service this car had was at Champion. Amazing dealer, yes, my car is 100% stock, everything the sticker says is still original in the car. And has all the original stickers everywere. Thanks for the message

@RumbleAuto @stevetheodore @SofiaLeo Sorry for the late answer, was doing research on the matter. The car in 1994 indeed was hand painted at the factory and this car color is special order, Midnight Blue, one of the 3 available for a 964 3.6T in that year. That being said, added to 3 layers of Ceramic Pro, meter can go from 4 to 10. So here is what I can disclose. Rear Left Fender, showing 10.1 in the middle, 11.4 in the back, I'm not sure it has paint work. Rear Right and the Front Right Fender 100% sure that both had paint work according to the meter. I have no history on the reason why, since I can guarantee the car has never been in an accident. The car is in Miami and available for inspection if desired. Just let me know

What a glorious 964 T 3.6! As this era of Porsche was hand painted, some inconsistencies of paint thickness can be expected, but not a difference between 4 and 19 mil. Do you have any idea why the paint thickness appears so high in some of those readings?

  • robcapecod 2 years, 11 monthsago

    Hi ,
I love this car! my current tubo was purchased at champion. Is it 100% stock ?

  • SofiaLeo (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

@rodrigobonadia seller you are stating that your car has had NO PAINT work? the paint meter reading show that it has had paint work? This car normally should meter on every panel at 4 -6 max. Please explain the very high meter readings. Thank you

  • rodrigobonadia (seller) 2 years, 11 monthsago

Thank you bidder, it's quite a catch. Car has an average of 600 miles per year. Never been in any accidents, car is fully original and I have no record of paint work, attached to the photos are the Car Fax and consistent paint meter. Car has a 3 layers of Ceramic Pro and shines as new. Glad to answer any other questions. Thanks

  • SofiaLeo (registered bidder) 2 years, 11 monthsago

Beautiful 3.6 seller! Has this car ever been in any accidents or had any type of paint work? Thank you
