The purest and most unadulterated version of the 964 Carrera RS, the N/GT was created as a lightweight competition-ready homologation special of the 964 Cup car. It came designated with option code M003 which provided even more weight savings over the standard Carrera RS as well as a Matter roll cage, Nomex bucket seats, Schroth safety harnesses, a larger-capacity fuel tank, a fire extinguisher, and an emergency cutoff switch. This 1992 example is one of only 290 N/GT versions produced in total and comes finished in Rubystone Red. It was purchased new at Porsche AMAG of Switzerland in May 1992 and had remained under the care of its original owner in Germany where a complete bare metal restoration was completed by AP Car Design of Goettingen in 2015. Showing approximately 53k kilometers (33k miles) on the odometer, this incredibly rare and sought-after 964 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Munich, Germany, with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.
The body of the Carrera RS was manufactured using a special seam-welding technique and includes an aluminum front bonnet, thinner glass windows, a lightweight rear bumper design, and aero-style mirrors borrowed from the 911 Turbo. This example is said to be one of only 38 examples to have been factory-finished in Rubystone Red and rides on 17” Cup Design magnesium wheels with “RS” logo center caps and Michelin Pilot Sport tires. The car is said to have been stripped to bare metal and refinished in its original color during the restoration in 2015 with only 778 kilometers driven since. The hood, decklid, and rear glass were replaced and the seller adds that the paint remains in excellent overall condition, detailed images are provided in the gallery.
The cabin of the Carrera RS N/GT is devoid of rear seats, sound-deadening material, or carpeting. It features plywood floorboards in place of carpet mats, and lightweight door panels with manual window cranks and red cloth pull straps. Factory equipment includes a full Matter roll cage, a pair of Nomex-upholstered Recaro bucket seats, Schroth 6-point safety harnesses, a fire extinguisher mounted in the passenger footwell, and an emergency battery cutoff switch to the left of the headlight knob. The seller notes the steering wheel has been recovered in leather, paint protection film is applied to the sidebars of the roll cage, and the fire extinguisher was replaced in 2015. All gauges and accessories are said to remain fully functional.
Like the Carrera RS, the N/GT version is equipped with a naturally aspirated 3.6-liter M64/03 flat-six engine featuring hand-selected pistons and cylinders, solid rubber mounts, a lightweight singles mass flywheel, and revised ECU programming. Up to 260 HP is sent to the rear wheels through a close-ratio G50/10 5-speed manual transaxle with a racing clutch and a ZF limited-slip differential. In comparison to the standard 964 models, the RS also features a lower suspension with stiffer Bilstein coilovers, larger adjustable anti-roll bars, and ball joints in place of rubber bushings. Its four-piston brakes are paired with cross-drilled rotors borrowed from the 911 Turbo. The seller notes a complete mechanical restoration was performed by AP Car Design in 2015 and the car is accompanied by a copy of the original stamped service book and a post-restoration appraisal report as well as German TUV and European ASU road certifications (2023).
This sale will include owner’s manuals, OEM replacement service books, a toolkit, a spare tire, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and some documentation.
The seller would like you to know: “Fabrik proudly presents the very first 964 RS NGT Rubystone on PCARMARKET. First time for sale on the world stage/online/auction. The car has had one owner since new. It was purchased new at Porsche AMAG Switzerland in May 1992. The owner moved back to Germany sometime in 2001 and it remained with the same owner in Westphalia Germany until we purchased the car. This RS has gone through a complete mechanical restoration and bare metal repaint by world-renowned Porsche specialists, AP Car Design in Goettingen Germany in 2015. It has been driven only 778km since the work was performed in 2015. See appraisal photos and compare with current odometer pics.” The first ever issued Porsche Certificate took 8 weeks to obtain at Porsche Classic in Germany in May 2023 with the car present. Enclosed transportation only since in our possession. No signs of any accidents or damage detected as per the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity."Good luck bidding on this investment-grade Porsche!

Past Rubystone RS sales review:
40k km with minor accident sold in high $300's
42k km repainted sold on BAT $401k
Pristine condition low kms sold for $470k
This should hopefully give an idea of the various levels of the RS Rubystone spectrum sold recently.
Good luck to all. This RS is priced to sell. Let's GO!
I was able to find some more documentation on the service history of the car. Copy of Porsche option/build sheet (faded a bit) and copies of the service book with stamps from 1992 - 2007. All of those service shops in the stamps are still in business and can be contacted. See last 4 photos in gallery at the very end. As you can see the dates and mileage all adds up and confirms the time line.

Good morning/afternoon everyone. We have exactly 2 hours to go! We want to thank all the bidders and commenters for your participation in our debut auction on Pcar Market.
We've received quite a few PM's asking for the reserve price. But as per Pcar Market guidelines, we can't share this info. That being said, we've priced this car to sell today. Good luck to all the bidders!
@jakeg104 I appreciate the kind words. Thank you!
For what it’s worth to the current and potential bidders, I’ve worked with @FABRIK and had recently purchased an immaculate 964 sight unseen from Japan that he sourced.
Clearly a big thing to trust someone to eyeball a car that’s overseas, but am happy to say the car that showed up was quite frankly nicer than I expected and I was absolutely thrilled (which I know almost never happens).
The entire process was effortless and I would happily buy another one through @FABRIK.
This car looks absolutely amazing. Good luck to all you bidders!!

Is there factory Ac or not?
Where can I find all of the pictures of the car?
I thank the seller for the answers to the questions raised. A possible explanation for the reason why the front bonnet and the rear bonnet were replaced may be due to the holes that had to be drilled on the bonnets to allow the application of the bonnet retaining hooks required by the racing regulations in the N/GT categories. Therefore, during the restoration phase, it was preferred to use new parts rather than closing the holes. However, this hypothesis of mine clashes with the statement that the car has never raced. Checking the stamped numbers inside the doors therefore takes on greater importance. The same goes for the same numbers 142XXXX which must be present under the knee pad just under the dashboard heating controls. Just lift the knee pad in that area to take the photo. In a car restoration process it is important that everything (even if not original) is correct. In fact, the brake pump cover is missing, the position of the ABS control unit is incorrect and after all the battery must be 36a/h and not 70a/h, this is a non-negligible detail because there can be 15-20 pounds of difference. This is a car where weight really matters
@FABRIK appreciate you responding to all my questions, even though some appear to be buried with a lot of secondhand speculation. The listing should probably be updated to reflect that this is no longer owned by the original owner, and the hood, decklid, seats, steering wheel, and rear glass have been replaced. I disagree that 95% of NGTs have had their hoods replaced, just not true. And in order to require replacement of the factory alloy hood, you can bet something happened besides stone chips.
These are not deal breakers for many, but important things to know when purchasing an RS and will directly affect the value now and even more so in the future.
Since the front and rear opening panels have been replaced, it would be very beneficial to post photos or verify if the numbers on the doors match. These are under the door garnish rails, which take 5min and 2 screws to remove.
Your seat expert is no expert, these were not available in 1992 and have reproduction decals on them. The X brace design is completely different than the 964 NGT seats and came out years later. Regarding the steering wheel, yes all NGTs came with the extended hub, this is a replacement as well.
Not trying to knock the car, just trying to get straight answers that are very important to potential RS owners. This is still a highly desirable 964, and unlike a lot of perfectly original examples, I would not feel bad driving this as intended - on the track.
Please check out our cold start, 360 degree and undercarriage video if you haven’t already. It was posted this morning. I forgot to mention earlier. Cheers
@gclaym I’d love to but as per request by AP, I’ve been asked to not share it publicly. I’m guessing they don’t want pictures of their internal shop operations to live on an auction listing indefinitely. Which is understandable.
We have ~200 pictures of the tub and body In tact pre-restoration plus more. Serious inquiries please PM your email address and we’ll send those over to you. Thank you all.
Part 3 - I hope this gives some clarity and answers your questions. We are truthfully disclosing all the info we have. You are looking at a NGT that has been properly restored back to original as close as possible by a reputable Porsche builder. It is still a factory Rubystone NGT with a Porsche Certificate and numbers matching as per this certificate! Let’s not undermine those facts. What would this level of work cost today. You are welcome to call AP yourself and ask.
I understand if this is not up to the standard of some potential buyers, and I respectfully say they should continue their search for another one of the 38 Ruby NGT’s and hope they are more original than this one…and for sale. So far this is the second one to go up for auction online in the US. There are a few more that I know of personally in collections. Very few lower mileage concourse cars and majority that cover the other end of the spectrum. And most will not part with them because they know how scarce this market has become in recent years in Europe or Asia. Once on US soil in collections, they are not heard or seen from until the dust has settled and all the RS’s have been carefully plucked and stowed away, waiting for the next spike. How would this conversation be in say 3-5years? That’s all up for speculation of course but I’ll share one key word that time and time again has taught me a good lesson in my decision making in 20+ years trading collector cars and art. Scarcity.
Part 2 - I spent many hours talking to Porsche Classic, a few Porsche specialists in Germany and a Recaro seat specialist who has hundreds of collectible Recaros going back to the 60’s and 70’s in his warehouse. He specializes in finding and sourcing original seats and interior pieces for Porsche owners who are looking for original pieces to complete a build or in our case, are looking for period correct seats for their Porsche. He shed some light on this situation and I think the seat mystery is finally solved. The seats in this NGT are in fact aftermarket Recaro Profischale seats made in 1991-1992. Not 1995/1996. The white sticker on any Recaro seat is an indication that it’s aftermarket. Even if the seat is a high side bolster Recaro Pole Position with the exposed X bracing on the seat back. He was adamant that original 964 NGT’s and 993 RS Clubsport’s both had the Recaro Pole Position with high side bolsters and X on the back but came with a paper sticker with a Porsche part number plus 3 circular paper stickers in in the colours white, blue and green. He was firm about this and challenged me to send him a Porsche part number on any Recaro seat that has the White vinyl sticker. It’s one or the other he said. Either its from oem from Porsche with part number or its aftermarket with the white sticker. The white sticker can be bought online. The Porsche part number sticker is not obtainable.
Luckily, He actually has 2 original 964 NGT Recaros with the Porsche part number starting with “964” and the circular stickers that he is willing to part with that are in great condition. He is asking 9k euro for the pair. I’ve put a deposit on them and put them on hold. He told me the seats in this NGT are still period correct but aftermarket and a common replacements in the 90’s. And they are still worth 2000-2500Euro depending on condition. I will post pics of his seats oem NGT seats as proof shortly. I hope this clears up the seat situation.
As for the steering wheel, I was told it was replaced with a momo in the 90’s and the original was recovered in leather and put back during restoration. I couldn’t get an answer as to why it doesn’t have an extended hub. I was told not all came with that option.
Part 1 - @Lovebuzz - I spent a few hours investigating this yesterday because I wanted to get to the bottom of this once and for all. I spoke to Porsche Classic who told me “numbers matching” to them means the engine, transmission and serial number match up. As stated in the certificate. And that’s why we were not hesitant to purchase the car in the first place. Now I was able to finally get my partner to take pics of the 3 stampings and they do not match. I will post pictures on here as proof. This means the hood and trunk were swapped out at some point. Porsche Classic was not surprised at all and said that is the case with 95% of RS NGT’s as they all had a history of being tracked and well used until they started gaining value and many owners started to bring them back to original condition for reasons mentioned in my previous comment. Now as to why the parts were changed, I’m still not sure. I’m waiting for the previous owner and AP to give me an explanation and more pics if available. I also confirmed with Porsche Classic about signs of accidents, they told me that they took a several hundred pictures and sent them to Stuttgart to get approvals on the data they collected on this car. They could not detect any signs of damage or repairs to the chassic/shell as stated in the certificate and we’ve confirmed this over the phone. That leaves the question as to why the hood and trunk numbers don’t match the bulk head. At this point I don’t know. Do we trust Porsche or do we assume there was an accident they couldn't detect.
As for the ownership. We own the car outright, we purchased it from the original owner. We are technically the second owner yes.
@albe59 Good eye on the rear window. Yes, it has been replaced and originals are long NLA. The original rear glass is quite special since it is the thinner version of the C2 glass, still with heater elements, but not hooked up. Replacement RS glass was clear, as we see here. The windshield is less of a concern to me since it was not an RS-specific part.
Paint meter readings do look fairly uniform except for the front hood. The aluminum hood painted from the factory will actually measure about 2x thicker than paint on the rest of the car. A reading of 99 micrometers is thinner than factory paint, which compounded by the reproduction options sticker emphasizes my concern about wanting to see the body numbers on the opening panels. Hood, decklid, doors, and rear bulkhead should all have the same number.
In addition to what lovebuzz requested I would also like to see numbers printed on the inside of the doors and behind the knee pads. Looking at the thicknesses of the paintwork it seems homogeneous which suggests it was a simple respray (no stucco). However, it is easy to notice that all the stickers on the car are poorly made or missing copies. The finish of the front tub is too nice compared to the original Porsche finish, but a cover is missing and the position of the ABS control unit is that of a CUP and not of an RS N/GT. What worries me are the windscreen and the rear window which they were replaced with aftermarket parts. Does the seller have any information on glass replacement?
@Lovebuzz I'm just in a meeting. I got to the bottom of everything, I will post a thorough comment answering all the questions very shortly. Hang tight
@FABRIK I appreciate you being someone candid about the car used on track, yes this was common with these cars. I don’t think anyone said this was a museum piece, original-paint car, but what we all want to know is if there is more to the story on why it was refurbished. Please post photos of the body numbers stamped on the hood, decklid, and rear bulkhead - they are very easy to locate and will help back up your claim that the car has never been in an accident.
I’m also sorta confused to the ownership situation here. The listing says makes it sound like the car is still owned by the original owner, and you refer to it as a one-owner car, but then parts of your story sound like you purchased the car, effectively making it a two-owner car? If the former is true, can’t you just ask the owner to shed some light on why the seats and steering wheel were replaced? No way to know if the seats are 95/96 production or 2023, but it’s still suspect as to why someone would replace them with later model seats and then recover them with incorrect upholstery and throw on reproduction 1992 stickers. Why not just recover the original seat shells?
Comparing this car to an original one with an asking price of 500+ is a moot point, that is not this car and that is just an asking price. There was also another NGT track car that just got bid to 100k, data points are all over the place, but most collectors do want something on the more original side. I have owned and refurbed a number of RSs, I know the cars well. I don’t chase mileage or original paint, but I do need to know if panels and components have been replaced and why.
Part 2 - We are not trying to pass this car off as an original paint museum piece. There is an immaculate original ~20k kms with original paint for sale in the high $500k price range for sale. And it’s not a Rubystone car fyi. I would expect that car to be nothing less than a museum piece. What we have here is the best condition Rubystone RS NGT for sale currently on the global market. As for the steering wheel, great observation you might be correct about the hub, but I’m not sure to be very honest. We inspected about a dozen RS’s last year and this one stood out. I looked at the owner, his collection of 20+ RS Porsches, the cars quality and the attention to detail that went into the work and I knew this was the one to have if we are not talking about an original paint car. Porsche Classic has confirmed “no signs of accident/damage” and called the cars condition as “exceptional” in the report. I haven’t seen an original paint untouched NGT in 5+ years.
For me, the fact that it’s a 1-owner RS certified by Porsche “and” one of only 38 NGT’s ever made in Rubystone makes up for the steering wheel and seats or any other parts that can be replaced and are still available.
All that being said, I appreciate all the enthusiasm and attention this auction is receiving. We respect everyones opinion and feedback and welcome you all. We are excited about Thursday as this is our first time on the Pcar platform. @Lovebuzz and @Closingtime - I hope this answers your questions and things add up now but if you have any more questions please don’t hesitate to contact me. I’m also happy to get on a phone call should anyone feel more comfortable that way.
Thank you to all the bidders and participants.

Part 1 -
@Lovebuzz you are correct. After speaking to Porsche Classic and doing some research we now know the seats are Recaro SPG’s made only in 1995/1996. I’m still waiting for pictures of the seat backs to see if there is a big “X”. I doubt it but we just want to be sure. We don’t know why they were swapped out and AP said it was at the request of the owner who wanted everything to be brought back to new condition.
Now, regarding your concern about the extensive work that was done on such a low mileage RS NGT by the original owner etc. etc. Let’s look at this a bit deeper. It’s 1992, and the owner ordered and purchased a car that comes from a racing breed of Porsches that is meant to be driven and track ready meant to be “raced on the track”. That is why people were buying these in 1992. Not as a comfortable cruiser to drive to car meets on weekends and fancy dinners downtown. Now that being said, there is no history of any official racing or a race history book for this car. It was enjoyed for its intended purpose for many years as the owner moved back to Germany from Switzerland in 2007. Many fun days were spent on the Autobahn, the Alps and I’m sure on a track from 1992 until 2015 when the car was restored after 23 years of ownership. Nothing out of the ordinary here in my opinion.
Now why was the car restored to as close to new or perfect condition you ask? Maybe its because in late 2016 early 2017, the 964 RS was finally turning 25 years old and becoming legal to import into the United States, the most starved market for ROW RS Pcars at the time and the biggest collector car market on the planet, for the first time ever! And anyone who has been in this market for at least the the last decade or two, knows that the 964RS prices started to skyrocket starting in 2013/14 when many discerning buyers like us started buying them up in Europe in anticipation for export. This resulted in why many of the RS or RS NGT’s you see for sale today have gone through a complete repaint and reconditioning but most don’t have a Porsche Certificate issued. In this case it’s different in my opinion as it was brought back to its original glory by one of the most respected Porsche builders in Germany and it was only driven 778kms since…and we had it certified by Porsche in May of 2023.
Also, the steering wheel is a replacement, all NGTs came with an extended hub. Still curious why all this work and replacement components on a one-owner car with such low mileage. Doesn’t exactly add up to me.
@closingtime It’s not just the seat fabric, these are later-model SPGs with entirely different shell designs. Recaro released this design around 95/96 and are the same as you can buy aftermarket today. They did not exist in 1992 and are far simpler than the original RS/cup seats.
Seller - I think everyone would prefer that you post everything publicly as opposed to privately so that everyone receives the same information, thanks
@Lovebuzz is correct. When comparing the seats installed in this car with factory RS seats, it's clear that the Porsche patches do not match. Was the reason for this restoration due to the car being raced or damaged?
Thank you @Fabrik
The main thing I would like to see are the body numbers stamped on the hood, decklid, and rear bulkhead. They should all match unless panels have been replaced. The number on the hood is near the passenger side courtesy light provision (there is no light mounted on RSs) and on the decklid it is near the center where the grill mounts.
Less than 48hrs to go! Thank you for all the private messages, we are committed to answering all your questions asap. Please bare with us. We have before, during and after photos/info to share with you but prefer to do so privately. There is zero signs of any damage or corrosion fyi for everyone who has been asking. Please provide an email address in a private message and we will send them over to you. Thank you all!
@Lovebuzz - we didn't forget about your questions. We are waiting for info from Porsche Classic Germany. Will share the info as soon as we can. The time difference makes it a bit of a challenge with communication back and forth but we are on it :)
@Lovebuzz As far as we know it was offered to us first.
The work performed was solely at the request of the owner who is very meticulous and wanted the car to be brought back to brand new condition in 2015 after already 23yrs of ownership and enjoyment, hence the extensive work performed by AP. A quick Google search will reveal the caliber and standard of craftsmanship every Porsche receives at their establishment. This was one of several (in the double digits) RS’s in the owners collection and the only one in Rubystone, which he wanted to preserve. See appraisal report post work performed.
The option sticker could very well be a reproduction but we’ve inquired with AP and Porsche Classic in Germany to confirm. You would be hard pressed to find a 31yr old paper Porsche option sticker in such good condition. But we’ll find out and let you know about the sticker, stampings and seats asap.
Pretty sure this car was offered for sale publicly in Europe a few months back.
Why did it need such an extensive restoration after just one owner and such little mileage?
The options sticker is a reproduction. Can you post photos of the body numbers stamped under the hood, decklid, and on the rear bulkhead?
Any idea why the seats were replaced? Those are later-model SPGs
Bid in the amount of $100,000
