The Volkswagen Vanagon GL Westfalia is a classic camper van renowned for its versatility, factory-designed camping amenities, and durable construction. Powered by a 2.1-liter flat-four engine paired with a 4-speed manual transmission, this extensively refurbished 1991 example marks the final year of Vanagon production. It is refinished in Flash Silver Metallic over a grey interior and features a pop-up camper roof, a retractable awning, LED headlights & driving lights, external utility hookups, air conditioning, a kitchenette, a folding table, and more. Showing approximately 325k kilometers (202k miles) on the odometer, this Westfalia Vanagon is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Canada.
As part of its body refurbishment, this example was refinished in Flash Silver Metallic and features a white pop-up roof and a retractable awning. Additional equipment includes a color-coordinated front spoiler, sliding windows, a right-side sliding door, mud flaps, fender flares, and connections for electrical, potable water, and grey water on the driver's side. It rides on silver-finished 16” wheels with Volkswagen-branded covers and a new set of tires. Detailed images are provided in the gallery, along with a CARFAX report, indicating branded title issuance.
The cabin features front bucket seats upholstered in grey cloth, complemented by matching carpets and trim. The front seats swivel, with the passenger seat capable of turning to face the rear compartment. The rear area has a kitchenette with a two-burner stove, refrigerator, and storage compartments. The rear bench seat folds flat to provide additional sleeping space. All gauges and electronics are reported to be working properly, with no warning lights illuminated.
Power comes from a rebuilt, water-cooled 2.1-liter flat-four engine, delivering a factory-rated 90 HP and 117 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual transmission. The seller reports that the vehicle recently underwent a comprehensive tune-up, which included replacing the spark plugs and changing the engine and brake fluids.
This sale will include a toolkit, a spare tire, and a branded title.
The seller would like you to know: “Very nice rig coming out from a 600 hours refurbishment. Engine & body. Not a trailer queen, but a very interesting partner to circle the globe, 1 or a few more times! Can act as a second or third vehicle in the family. It runs like a Swiss watch and it is very fun to drive. The next owner will be VERY HAPPY.”

@SPHalliday Original Engine.
I live in California. The laws here are screwy about engine replacements. Is this the original engine?

@SPHalliday Correct. Insurance paid ex-Owner. Then sold it to the market. Current Owner bought it and refurbished it to a good / great level. No structural damage. VERY VERY Fun and Pleasant to Drive.
Am I under the correct understanding that the reason this vehicle's title is branded is only because of an engine fire and there was no structural damage from a collision?
