The Mercedes-Benz 300SL, part of the R129 series, offers a blend of luxury, performance, and advanced technology that was ahead of its time. Powered by a 3.0-liter inline-six engine paired with a 5-speed automatic transmission, this 1991 example is finished in silver over a tan leather interior. It features a body-color removal hardtop, fog lights, 16″ Gullideckel alloy wheels, automatic climate control, cruise control, and an AM/FM cassette stereo linked with a trunk-mounted CD changer. Showing just over 18k miles on the odometer, this R129 300SLis now being offered for auction by its seller out of Michigan.
The R129 300SL is characterized by its sleek, aerodynamic design with clean lines, featuring a long hood, compact rear, rectangular headlamps with washers, and a grille adorned with horizontal chrome slats centered by the iconic Mercedes-Benz star. This example is finished in silver and comes with a body-color removable hardtop, integrated fog lights, and fender vents. It rides on 16″ Gullideckel alloy wheels fitted with Pirelli P600 tires, with approximately 20% tread life remaining. The seller notes that the front and rear bumpers may have been repainted at some point, as the paint slightly differs from the rest of the body, which appears to retain its original finish. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The interior features power-adjustable seats with memory functions upholstered in tan leather and complemented by burl wood accents on the doors and center stack. Amenities include automatic climate control, cruise control, a deployable roll bar, and an AM/FM cassette stereo connected to a trunk-mounted CD changer. All gauges and electronics are reported to be in proper working order, with no warning lights illuminated.
Power comes from a 3.0L M104 inline-six engine, which delivers a factory-rated 228 HP and 201 lb.-ft of torque to rear wheels through a 5-speed automatic transmission. It features a power-assisted recirculating ball steering system and an independent suspension system with coil springs, struts, and anti-roll bars at the front and rear. Disc brakes on all four wheels with standard ABS facilitate stopping power.
This sale will include the owner’s manuals, toolkit, a spare tire, and a clean title.

Nice looking car- too bad about the previous service records.
To me, in these photos, the car looks like it is painted in a darker, warmer color than silver. Are my eyes going bad on me, or is metallic color a bit different than silver?
